My pages document converted to word, seems corrupted.

I saved two pages files as word files, so I could open and edit them in word on my work laptop.  THe MacBook Pro in work uses Microsoft Word 2008, the document that corrupts it is over 2mb ( an 8,200 word document with image files) and the first half opens fine in word, but once I scroll down after the initial okay pages, all the pages are blank and below the pagination starts to go crazy, trying to give me thousands of pages (my document is 28 pages) subsequently crashing word.  I also emailed myself another pages to word converted document which was much smaller, and all of the information on this one seems perfectly correct and formattted.  Is the previous one too large for word?!
any help is much appreciated, this is for an MFA dissertation

By the word 'convert' you mean 'export', right? I usually export heavier files with images to word and don't have any problem. Two suggestions: 1) Also get a copy of open office application (Neo Office) for all sort of double checks, 2) Yes, try exporting it again...

  • I can not export Pages document into a Word file

Please help! I have researched many feeds in regards to my issue. None of the suggestions seem to work. I need to export a Pages document into a Word file and get the error messge "an unknown error has occured". I have attempted to "Save as" and export directly from the file menu. All of my fonts have been validated. Not sure what my other options are. Can anyone give any insight? Thanks

In case if the files are missing for the once you have in your book module they can have issues exporting as PDF or JPEG.
Please check the same and replace the files which are missing or attach the same and then try exporting the same.

It's difficult to do more than guess when you don't say what version of OS X or Pages you're running, but if you're on the latest, have you tried the Share menu -> Send via Mail command?
If that doesn't help, you may have better luck if you ask in the Pages forum:
    Pages
When you repost, be sure to include full details about your versions so that people know what it is you're working with.

I'm afraid that your choice if names is the problem. Try "RoomSched2X", or similar, and let us know how it goes. If that works you can try some other names of your own choosing.

  • Making a Pages document compatible with Word and Full-screen view

Hi there! I would like to know if it is necessary to have Microsoft Office installed on my computer in order to be able to save a Pages document as "Microsoft Word" compatible. As of now, when I select the "Save As" option, I'm only able to save my document as a iWork 06 and 05 file. Also, I've noticed that on the video tutorials online, there is a "full-screen" mode and I was wondering if it was available on iWork 08, or if it is only for iWork 09. Thank, and sorry if these questions have been answered before!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
No, you don't need Office installed. That's the whole idea. Go to File > Export & choose Word (or text, rtf or pdf). The option to "save as" Word has been added in Pages 4/iWork '09 as well as in export.

  • How to insert blank page into pages document when using word processing mode?

I've recently created a 50+ page document using Pages '09. I started the document using word processing mode. Now, when I view in thumbnail mode and try to insert a blank page somehwere in the middle of the document, it won't allow me to select where I want. It just selects all the pages, as thought they are one section. I believe this is because I am in word processing mode. My question is, can I convert the document to layout mode so that each page represents it's own section, without losing what work I've already done? And if so, how?
The document is entirely text boxes and images, so I don't have any need for word processing space. I just need new pages to act as blank templates for the text boxes and images I create.
Is it possible to keep all my work as is, and convert the document to layout mode vs. word processing mode?
    Thanks!

It just selects all the pages, as thought they are one section.
That's because they are one section. You must insert section breaks to separate them. There is no need to use page layout which does make each page a separate section. You have to manually add each page & use text boxes or other containers for the text & link the text boxes.

  • How to save a Pages document as a Word file

I downloaded the new version of Pages hoping for better Word compatibility. To be honest I can't see any difference in the compatibility.
Apple says on their page for Pages 5.0 that you can save Pages documents as Word files. "You can save Pages documents as Word files. Or import and edit Word documents right in Pages." Since they say "save" and not "export", I figured I could treat it like I would in Word. Do I still have to export the document or can I now just save it as a Word file without ending with duplicates?

    You have to Export.

  • Why is a 4MB Pages document converting into a 20.7MB epub file?  How can I reduce the size?

I'm using Pages 4.3 to create epub files.  It converted a 112-page, 4 MB Pages document to a 20.7 MB epub file.  Yet when I converted the Pages document to a mobi file (for Amazon ebooks), it's only 3.6 MB.  Obviously I can't use a 20.7 MB file.  Why is it doing this and what can I do about it?
    Thanks for any information.

that's the thing that pump size.
    Video files.
Please take note that FLV is not much better than regular
    video. In fact it's
larger and lousier quality. So you could import MOV to flash
    and keep it as SWF.
This would keep the file smaller a bit. Than you can always
    load these files
in run time, swf and flv. Making main movie small and just
    stream the content when
    needed.

  • I'm trying to convert a pages document to a word document

via Share - Export - as word document but it fails every time. I can't send via mail as a word document either. Does anybody know why this is happening or how to fix it?

Thanks very much, but I've managed to do it by copy-and-pasting to an email, then to word.
    Thanks for your help!

  • I am copying and pasting into a new, Pages document (from the word processing menu), and I paste in text that is longer than one page, it doesn't continue onto the next page.  I can't see the end. How do I get it to show everything I paste in?

I want to copy an extensive amount of text from a web page into a Pages word processing document, but it seems to chop it up into text boxes, some of which aren't long enough to show all of the lines of text.  I can't get hold of a bottom edge of the boxes to drag them to make them longer.  I tried several times starting over with a new, blank page (and I made sure to choose from the Word Processing part of the dropdown menu, since I read about a similar problem that said not to use the layout menu.  It keeps doing the same thing.  What do I have to do to get long text pasted to multiple pages, instead of it trying to be all on one page?
In the long run, what I want is to create this as an ePub book.  Is there a better way to go about this?

    Hi Ellen,
Copying from web pages can include some weird formatting. Instead of Paste, use Paste and Match Style (Edit Menu).

    Ian.

  • Trouble with pdf document converted to word

I converted a pdf to a word document but it will  only allow picture tools. It does not let me make changes to the word document.

Update: I have run additional tests today, seems like it's a font that is creating the problem:
I use Merriweather, which suddenly convert to shrunken size in PDF, but if I convert the document font to something more generic, e.g. Courier New, the font size remains accurate in the PDF version.
