My palm rest clicks the trackpad mouse button!
Every time I put any pressure on the right palm rest above the optical drive on my 15" MBP C2D (with where the meaty part of my thumb would naturally rest), the aluminum flexes and clicks my mouse button. It's starting to bother me with random clicks when I least expect them.
Furthermore, if I press down on the right side of the palm rest near the right arrow key, there's a noise/feeling similar to how your shoes feel on a sticky, soda covered floor.
Does anyone else have this fit and finish issue?
No, although this does sometimes happen. Contact AppleCare and explain your situation and most likely you'll get it fixed.

Hi there. I'm having a problem with my external hard drive. Actually with only one of them (others seem to be ok...). The problem is that when clicking the right mouse button (or using other ways to do the same), in the drop-down list there isn't an option for "create new folder". Please, can anyone help with this issue?
The drive is NTFS formated. Most probably that's the reason, but there is some info on the drive which I wouldn't like to loose. If there is a way to re-format the drive and save the files, that would be great. If there isn't such a way, then please, tell me how to re-format it. But bear in mind as well that I'm using Parellels and the drive is to be used in Mac and Win modes, both. Just to add some more info: my other drive is FAT32 formated and all seems to go well with it.

Loud Click when I press the right half of my trackpad mouse button

I have been using a macbook for the past year, and just recently I get a very load metal on metal click or crunching noise when I press the right side of my trackpad mouse button. I have removed the battery and looked behind to see the trackpad assembly and when I press on the corresponding side of the assembly it also make the same clack or click or bad noise. When I do the same to the opposite side there is no noise. My guess is that there is a spring on that side that has come undone, am I right? If so how do I fix it? I bought my laptop in the US, but right now and for the next few months I am living in Norway (no apple stores) is there a place where I can bring it to in order to get warrentied service? Will apple mail me the part? It ought to be fairly easy to fix. ThanksI also had a trackpad 'click' problem ...my complete topcase had to be replaced. Although there may not be an 'Apple Store' in Norway, I'm sure there are Apple certified dealers there that can complete the repair. Here's a list of contact numbers...

My mouse can not click to anything left, right or the middle mouse button does not work
I am using a 24 inch imac and the problem is suddenly my mouse can not click to anything left, right or the middle mouse button does not work i can see cursor moving and i can use the features of the keyboard but my mouse dies. I tried to plug in another mouse magic trackpad and my tablet but each has the same problem. I can not click to anything but cursor is moving and computer is not frozen. I have to shut it off from the power button when this happens. Do you have any idea what can cause this and how can i fix this?
Reset the SMC 2-3 times. Click Intel iMac SMC and PRAM resets for instructions.

How do you tell if the first mouse button or the 2nd mouse button is clicke

I need to figure out if the first mouse button is clicked or the 2nd mouse button is clicked.
it seems that there is a method that is suppose to return an integer value dpeneding on what button is clicked but I printed out what is being returned and it seems it keeps printing out 0 for both the first and second.
Here is my code:

The right click menu pops up after I push the right mouse button, instead of when I release it.
I am using an extension All-In-One Gestures. It works on my other installation of Firefox 4 - particularly, the right-click menu pops up if I click right mouse button and then release it so I can perform gesture or turn the wheel instead of getting a right click menu.
But on this installation (basically the same addons and OS), the right-click menu pops up on pushing down the right mouse button so the right-button+wheel gestures do not work, and the menu stays there while I am performing the gesture which is rather annoying.
So I though maybe there is some obscure configuration option to toggle to make right-click menu pop up after the button release? Or is this entirely the extension's fault? Note that it does work as expected on other installation...You have to enable in Firefox
-> Options -> Content -> Activate JavaScript (yes) -> More
-> Allow scripts the following actions
-> Inactivate or replace context menu (yes)
in order to allow All-in-one-Gesture to block the immediate appearance of the context menu.
If you forbid Firefox JavaScript and/or the manipulation of the context menu by use of JavaScript, All-in-one-Gesture cannot work properly. -
Why do i have to keep clicking my left mouse button to make the program work it just stops and if left click it starts working. I'v only just started to use this program and It's no good at all if I go to a website and click a button I have to keep clicking it to finish what its doing.

Whenever I click on a link with the middle-mouse button, it opens multiple copies the link instead of only one (Version is 4.0.1). I have checked the mouse in other browsers and it doesn't behave oddly in them.
Does that happen if you {Ctrl + Click} the same hyperlinks?

How do I change what the middle mouse button/wheel does?
I feel like an idiot asking this, but I can't figure this out...
I've plugged in a bog standard 2 button + scroll wheel third button mouse, but I can't get the middle mouse button/wheel to behave like it would in Windows. If I click it, it changes programs, hold it it brings up the task switcher thing. It's like I'm pressing command + tab.
I want it to work normally, where the program I'm using the middle button responds, not the OS. Like in Firefox, I want to be able to close tabs with the middle mouse button, and open new links with it...instead all it can do is switch programs.
Is there a way to do this? Am I missing something obvious?Err...I don't know what happened, but I rebooted and now it's working like normal (knock on wood!). Noooo idea how it ended up in that state!

[SOLVED] Thunar 1.6 doesn't drag-and-drop with the right mouse button
Hallo all.
It might be something I've done (though I did delete my ~/.config/Thunar directory before upgrading), but Thunar doesn't let me drag-and-drop with the right mouse button, thus stopping me from copying something instead of moving it, etc. Has anyone else had that too?

Microsoft Windows, Nautilus, the Haiku Tracker, and probably many other file managers have a feature where, when you right-click or middle-click and drag an icon to a new location, a pop-up menu appears and asks what you'd like to do (Move, Copy, Link). I thought I used to use this feature in Thunar too but it seems to have stopped working in recent versions. Has anyone else had any experience with it?

This also happened in Windows XP which I was using until recently.
The Yahoo mail menu is there but the Firefox menu is on top of it. I tried Firefox safe mode with everything disabled and the problem still happened. I tried Yahoo mail in IE 9 and the right mouse button works correctly.Can you attach a screenshot?

You can double click on the selected object to get into the multilevel isolation mode.

Right click as primary mouse button won't work
Here's my problem...
I go into system preferences / keyboard & mouse and click on "Right" under "Primary mouse button:".
Then I close system preferences, but my right click isn't set as my main click (the contextual menu keeps popping up).
So I re-open system prefs / keyboard & mouse and notice that "Primary mouse button" is set to left again, so I click on "Right" again, close system prefs.
The same thing happens again:(
I tossed preferences for keyboard & mouse, repaired permissions, restarted...no dice. I'm on a powerbook g4 osx 10.4.7 & it's a logitech mouse (logitech's latest driver is bunk..I had it installed previously but uninstalled because the same thing was happening).
The thing that bugs me is that i have an imac at work w/ 10.4.7 and it works fine with the same mouse!

I'm using a logiech mouse w/ left & right click buttons. It's possible that if you're not using a 2 button mouse, "Right" does not appear in the Keyboard & Mouse system pref.
I'm trying to make the actual right mouse button on my mouse my main click & make the left mouse button my right click. Basically I want to reverse the mouse buttons.
About the test user account...if it does work correctly in the new account, how can I make it work in my main account?

Dragging with the Middle mouse button down should move the viewport.
Just like it says in the title: I believe that dragging with the Middle mouse button down should move the viewport, just like using the hand tool. Would be very handy for people still using a mouse. This can be hacked together using SetPoint (or similar software), but it doesn't work perfectly. Photoshop should've had it for a very long time, as the middle mouse button could be used to move around documents in other applications (web browsers, word processors, other graphics programs) for years.
I've never had that happen with Firefox 4 on WinXP. I haven't updated my Netbook that runs Ubuntu to Firefox 4 yet.
1. Try disabling the Java Console 6.0.24 and the Java Quick Starter 1.0 extensions and see if that solves your middle-click problem.
