My Partition Doesn't Show in boot menu

Hi there.
I recently partitioned my 500Gb SATA drive, resizing my Maverics drive to create  a new smaller drive for the developer preview of Yosemite.
It's fantastic and all to have the preview, but I now can't find my maverics drive.
I boot the mac and hold option, and the screen comes up. I have 'Install OS X' 'Macintosh Yosemite HD' 'Recovery 10.9' and 'Recovery 10.10' - All of my data is still there, I can see from the 10.10 disk utility.
I have a mid-2010 mac mini.
Any ideas?

Boot from the 10.9 Recovery HD.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
See if this fixes the problem. If it does not then you will need to reinstall OS X onto the Macintosh HD (your 10.9 system drive.)
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive

    hard disk not detected during booting or also it does not show in boot menu please tell

    you may have a failed hard drive or bad cables, i would check first to see if the hard drive is powering on. if it doesn't try a different power connection, and if it still doesn't start spinning i would say that it is bad and get a new hard drive. If
    it does start spinning and just isn't being recognized, try a different sata port if you have the option or a different sata cable all together.

  • Show the boot menu on every boot?

    Hi there, i'm wondering if there is a application or method to show the boot menu on every boot instead of having to hold down the the option key?
    I apologize if this question may have been asked previously!

    Not really although there is a menubar application called QuickBoot you might look at - VersionTracker or MacUpdate.

  • Windows 7 Boot Camp partition doesn't show in the System Preferences.

    Hi,
    I'm running an up to date 10.6.2 on my OS X partition and Windows 7 x64 on my boot camp partition. When I looked at the start up disk preference pane the windows 7 installation didn't show. Is this normal? 32bit XP always showed in the past. If not, what should I do to fix it? I know that I can boot into windows by holding down the alt key on boot but I would like to know this is working correctly.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Make sure that you have a good install of the Apple drivers (boot camp 3.x) in Windows and that Boot Camp Control Panel there works so that you can set the default OS to either, and that it works.
    But yes, someone else mentioned the same problem or bug.
    The only cause I've seen in the past was where Mac OS X had an NTFS driver and control panel (Paragon, MacFUSE, etc) and you had to use their control panel in OS X.

  • Windows 7 partition doesn't show up on my boot camp assistant

    i tried to Windows partition from my Mac and i this is all i get.
    what should i do?

    Are you trying to use Airplay or a wired HDMI/DVI connection From Windows?
    Are the BC drivers installed? You can find them using the matrix at Boot Camp: System requirements for Microsoft Windows operating systems - Apple Support and download/instal them on the Windows side.
    According to MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2009) and (15-inch, 2.53 GHz, Mid 2009) - Technical Specifications you have a Mini DP port.
    Does your Audio work on the OS X side?

  • My Bootcamp partition doesn't show up when I go to install Windows...

    I just partitioned my hard drive to install windows. When I open up the Boot Camp Assistant to install Windows, it doesn't let me select which partition to install it on. It attempts to install on to my Mac partition. The Bootcamp partition is available on my Desktop, but it's not showing up in the Assistant. Any suggestions on how to install Windows?
    Thanks,
    Allie

    Yes, it matters very much which service pack version of Windows XP you are attempting to install.
    I tried to install XP on a Boot Camp partition, and it only showed the C drive as my entire hard drive. Not knowing better, I selected that one thinking that I could back out and not choose format - just have a look. But! Just selecting it and hitting enter completely deleted my Mac OS X partition. Luckily there was nothing important on it, but wow! Anyway, long story short - be very very careful when installing Windows under Boot Camp, and stay well away from installations of XP less than SP 2.

  • Recovering Mac HD via Time Machine Backup fails because "Restore system from backup" doesn't show in Utilities Menu of original install. DVD

    Hi, after serious problems (troubleshooting didn't help) with my iMac G5 (PPC) running Mac OS X Leopard I've tried to recover my Mac HD via Time Machine (exactly as described by David Pogue on page 242 of the Leopard Missing Manual). However, "Restore system from backup" in the Utilities Menu of my original Leopard installation DVD failed to show up. What can I do?
    Any assistance will be greatly appreciated -

  • Pages Table of Contents - doesn't show in sections menu - any ideas?

    Watched the video and it looks simple but when I go to Sections it does not give me the option of choosing Table of Contents. Anyone know if there's something I'm doing wrong?
    Thanks

    Click at the beginning of your document > Menu > Insert > Table of Content
    It only works in a Word Processing document and you select which of the applied Styles you have used in the document. eg Heading 1, Heading 2

  • T430 DisplayPort doesn't show pre-boot display

    We have T430's (and X230's for that matter) connected to L2251x's via a Mini Dock Plus 3.
    We also have McAfee SafeBoot installed, which has a pre-boot password prompt before hitting the Windows 7 OS. No matter what we do, we cannot output this pre-boot screen to the monitors when the laptop is docked with the lid closed.
    I have tried looking around the nVidia control panel but found nothing. I've also tried changing the BIOS settings to use discrete graphics instead of nVidia but that breaks the resolution and Aero features.
    Anyone else had this issue? Is there a solution?

    The T430s I used to have drove all external LCD panels off the Intel HD 4000 GPU.  Therefore, the BIOS setting had to be Integrated or Optimus.  In additon to the display setting, while docked you should be able to specify which port receives the POST messages.
    My W530 is different.  The Discrete setting is required to see POST messages on an external LCD panel.

  • Wiki doesn't show the top menu if Vector theme is choosed

    Hi, if i choose other wiki theme than the default one, i don't get the top menu (Home, Packages, Forums, ...), so it gets more complicated to navigate through arch website. i usually have two tabs in my browser: one for the wiki, and one for the rest.
    is anyone else getting this behaviour? i think the right think is to always have the menu, regardless of the choosen theme.

    itsbrad212 wrote: (...) I see no reason to use a different theme (unless of course you want to)
    well, i have to completely agree with that
    BTW, i really don't get why, if you put the content in a different frame, is there the need to make one menu for each theme. is the menu also themeable? i don't think so though..
    just to be sure, did you get what i meant when i proposed to load content in a different frame? (it will behave like a completely different page, and the menu will always be there).. this is all about separating the content from the menu.. similar to this (this is a single iframe design, for simplicity):
    <html onload="javascript:highligh_the_right_content();">
    <script>
    if (document.location.href == "http://www.archlinux.org") {
    frames['content'].location.href='http://www.archlinux.org/home_content.html';
    hightlight('home');
    else if (document.location.href == "http://www.archlinux.org/packages") {
    frames['content'].location.href='http://www.archlinux.org/packages/packages_content.html';
    highlight('packages');
    </script>
    <div id="menu">
    <a id="home" onclick="javascript:frames['content'].location.href='http://www.archlinux.org/home_content.html'; highlight('home'); ">Home</a>
    <a id="packages" onclick="javascript:frames['content'].location.href='http://www.archlinux.org/packages/packages_content.html'; highlight('packages'); ">Packages</a>
    // etc
    </div>
    <iframe name="content"></iframe>
    //etc
    the same for all sections. this way 2 separate files are needed for each section:
    *index file
    *content file

  • OS X Mavericks not showing up in boot menu?

    Hi,
    I recently applied to the OS X Yosemite Beta program and downloaded and installed the Beta. I have a 1TB Hard drive in my MacBook Pro which is was partitioned in two partitions, one for OS X Mavericks and one for Bootcamp. I decided I wanted to keep my original partitions intact so I installed the Yosemite beta onto an external hard drive so I wouldn't affect my main system. The Yosemite Beta installed and booted fine from the external hard drive but when I rebooted my computer I was presented with option to boot into my Bootcamp partition or an OS X Yosemite Installer. I can boot into Windows fine but not OS X Mavericks. The OS X Mavericks partition is still intact but does not show up during start up. I tried using a third-party bootloader like rEFIt but doesn't seem to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Here is an image showing my boot menu, the items in orange are my external hard drive with the Yosemite Beta on it.

    Thanks for the reply, I managed to solve my problem by forcibly unmounting the install partition and booting into Bootcamp (My only option). From there I selected my OS X Mavericks partition from the Bootcamp menu in Windows and I rebooted successfully into it. For some reason it still wont show up in the boot menu  but rEFIt now works and will detect it along with the Bootcamp partition
