My passwords have for no apparent reason dissappeared - HELP
Yesterday passwords were all fine..
Today after running the trial version of Registry Mechanic all of my passwords have disappeared.
I have done a system restore to two days ago got rid of RM but alas the passwords are all gone.
Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Backing Files Stop Working For No Apparent Reason. Help?
I have a portal application accessing a remote WSRP PageFlow portlet. The remote portlet populates a backing file and the producer application reads the data. It was working fine and then it stopped working for no apparent reason. The data was simply null, no errors or warnings. I put traces in the backing file and verified that the life-cycle methods were indeed being called and that data was there, and yes, both were indeed the case. Data is being set on the SimpleStateHolder and it's just not transferring over to the producer side.
In order to rule out environmental issues, I've done this on multiple machines. Also, I started a whole new project, got backing file setup, verified that it worked, started developing with it and one time I deployed and it was broken again. I rolled out the changes I had just made but it didn't matter. The earlier code still failed to work although it had been working moments earlier.
So, any ideas? Has anybody else encountered backing file issues like this and if so do you have any suggestions on debugging or fixing them?

Password rejection for no apparent reason
For the second time in 30 days, my apple ID password is "incorrect". I know its the right one, I've been using it for 30 days. I can reset for a new password, but why the heck is it rejecting an established password......for a second time?
The first time I think it was because the password parameters changed. Cool. I created a valid password. But this new rejection has be baffled.Have you tried Reseting the iPad when the problem shows up? [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. The screen will go blank and then power ON again in the normal way.] It is app and data safe!

IMAC crashing for no apparent reason. Help please.
So, my computer keeps crashing. I reinstalled Mountain Lion, hoping that would fix it. It did not. It happened twice (once before and once after reinstall) while using MS Word for Mac 2011. But I think it's also happened at other times (many times) when I have not been using Word. Here's the panic. Grateful if someone could take a look at it and tell me what might be happening. Thanks.

Parallels runs slowly for no apparent reason-Please Help
Hey everybody. I'm running into an interesting situation when I'm running Parallels on my Core 2 Duo MBP. Basically, when parallels is running Windows XP, the whole computer is running very slowly. I have windows running on a second monitor, and I am running mac os in the laptop's screen. I checked my cpu and memory usage and it's around 30% for cpu and 27 mb for memory...this seems far from maxed out to me. Anybody have a diagnosis for what this is or a suggestion on how to fix it?
I have Parallels running on my MBP 2ghz CoreDuo with 2gb of memory. It seems to be running pretty fast.
How much memory did you allocate to Windows? Initially, I had 1gb, then lowered it to 700mb, no difference. I do, however, notice that Parallels takes up about 300-400mb real memory and 2.1GB of virtual memory.
The only issue I have is when I use remote desktop to connect to my PC at work. (my vpn sw does not work on the Intel Macs yet ...
Occassionally, Remote Desktop will go crazy sometimes and consume 100% of the CPU and hang for several minutes...hehe but that's Windows for you... -
CPU Temp spike to 120c for no apparent reason. Help!

I've got a 2.5 dual G5 4gb ram and yesterday I noticed the fans were running constantly for about 5 min. I had Photoshop and Illustrator running so I didn't think much of it (cpus were running at about 60% in activity monitor). Next thing I know I get a black screen that went away after I moved my mouse (It did this twice). I quickly shut down the programs and all was well. I did a bit of research and figured out that this is due to the cpu's overheating and it's putting the system into sleep mode. It's never done this before, and I work on these programs daily.
Well, I decided to download a temperature monitor today so I could keep an eye on what the temps are. I was listening to a podcast a that was approx. 30 min long (no other software running but Firefox, activity monitor, and the ). CPU temps were ok (around 65-80c), but suddenly the fans started screaming and the screen went black. When I got it to come on (only got it to come on for a few secs) I noticed the temps on both cpu's were running at over 120c. I shut down Safari and every program I could think of, but the temp remained high. I was afraid of frying my cpus' so I shut it down via the apple menu. The monitor went black, but the fans continued screaming so I held down the power button.
Now when I try to start it up I get the normal ding, but a black screen. When I look through the mesh on the front I see two red lights (I'm guessing where the cpus are). Please help me determine what the cause of this is! I'm a designer and this is my only source of income. Thanks in advance!!!!Well, I've taken it in to my local Mac repair shop. I'm wondering if the coolant is coming from my power supply (which is under warranty and was replaced 2 months ago), or if it's a separate component. I know this is a known issue with the liquid cooled G5s, and I hope that whatever is wrong will be fixed!!
When I was carrying it out to my car to transport today the coolant leaked all over my floor. I had both my dogs indoors and I didn't notice the trail of liquid till I got back (almost an hour later). I really hope neither of them licked up any of it! Between this and the potential fire hazard I'm almost starting to question on whether or not I even want it fixed. I'm literally afraid of my computer..lol.
I should be hearing back from the repair shop tomorrow. Fingers crossed this leak didn't fry my cpus and logic board. At temps like that I don't see how it couldn't!

one account goes offline for no apparent reason. I check Mailbox drop down menu for Take all accounts online, check correct password OK, turn mail off and on, reboot computer, etc. Nothing seems to work. Has happened in the past, but has also "fixed itself" after unknown time periods. One account has not been working now for awhile. I would like to get to the bottom of this.

In Mail's Window Menu, choose Connection Doctor, any red dots for status, if so what is the message?
Then click the Show Details button & Check again. -
When I open Thunderbird it takes up to 5 minutes for the prompt to come up to enter my password. This has just started happening-for no apparent reason. I opened the program in 'safe mode' and it made no difference. Please advise.

OK, so, opening in safe mode does not change behavior.
I'm on Mac (ver 10.9.5), Thunderbird 31.3.0 - up to date.
I'm using a POP server. If changing to IMAP will be beneficial please give instructions. I didn't find anything helpful on the Mozilla site for doing this.

It takes 2+ minutes for my password verification to come up.
It no longer automatically downloads new emails once I am able to enter password (I checked the account settings and it IS selected to do this).
It takes 1-2 minutes to send messages (no attachments).
I can't think of anything I may have done to cause this change in the way it works. Is there any other specific information you'd like?

For no apparent reason my Mac (2 GHz PowerPC G5) running 10.4.11 has put a mesh-like pattern over the folders on my desktop and also a band of the same pattern across the top of the screen and down the right-hand side over the dock. (See screen grabs below.)
It doesn't affect any operations but makes folder names and drop-down menus difficult to read through the pattern.
I'm not aware of changing any settings so suspect I must have clicked on something without noticing. How do I get rid of the overlaid pattern, please?Information about my computer is as follows:

Hi I have been successfully printing from my ipad2 wirelessly to HP printer but for no apparent reason it has stopped . Any ideas please ?
Try clearing your printer queue. Double click the bottom button to see your active apps and scroll to find your printer app. Cancel all documents listed for printing. Hopefully you'll b able to print again. This solution worked for me recently.

My ipad went blank last night for no apparent reason. It was on one minute, and then completely dark. I didn't touch it, it just seemed to have died. I tried turning it back on/off, but nothing happens. Anyone else have a similar situation?
Thansk for the reply King_Penguin...let me elaborate and see what you think...I had the ipad2 in the office and saw the battery was getting really low. I tried charging it with the iphone charger (connects to my pc at work). It took a while, but it got enough juice in the ipad2 to bring it back to life. when I got home, I hooked it up, and got to about 50%. All was fine, then I was attempting to hook it up to my TV with the AV adapter (or VGA adapter, whatever it is), left the ipad alone for a minute, came back to it, and that's when it went dark. I tried the home/sleep buttons, but only for about 5 seconds...any other suggestions in case that doesn't work? Thanks again...

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. If you want to get content from your iPad to you iMac, there are a few things to try.
First check to the iPad to see if it is syncing with iCloud. To do this, go to Calendar app and click the Calendars button in the upper left hand corner. If on the iPad it says “On my iPad”, the following steps will guide you to get it back your iMac.
First, in iTunes, go to the preferences by clicking in the drop down menu iTunes > Preferences… Go to the device tab and make sure to check the box that says Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from Syncing automatically.
Then follow the steps in the following articles to make a backup and the sync the data.

New to Macbook Air. Screen suddenly expands to 4-500% for no apparent reason. Have to use back arrow to return but lose what I've been typing. What am I doing to cause this?
Next time you want to put your iMac screen to sleep, try switching off the Magic Mouse, wait for the notification to come up on the screen telling you the Magic Mouse has been disconnected, wait for it to disappear then press the keyboard shortcut to put the screen to sleep. See if that helps and we'll go from there. If that doesn't help, can you just say wether the screen always turns back on the same time every time?
