My pavalion dv4-1220 lap top
well after two hard drives within a year and half and now we after diagnostics are told it will be a mere 520 dollars to replace the mother board and the LED display due to the fact that the led doesn't work anymore. The machine has always produced excessive heat and this is the likely culprit for burning up the both the motherboard led location and also the feed to the LEd itself. What a lemon this machine has been. the first hard drive replaced by HP was within three months of purchase. the second one i purchased a year later ,a western electric and had it installed. i had to do the same on my pavilion 6000 . this one is my 20 yr old sons . he has always complained regarding the heat and it has on occasion just shut down until it cools off. the western electric hard drives have worked very well.
I'm well out of warrenty and i know that HP will do nothing but i just needed to vent in saying i'll never own another one.
these people don't care and they are in for another big fall in the market. dealing with Raji or Bob from Mumbia is equal to ten proctoscopic exams at onece if you catch my drift. We purchased the machine for my sons college in june of 2009 and its been a miserable journey. Never another one !
Do you have a wireless router? If so, connect to it via the printer front panel: Setup > Network > Wireless Setup Wizard.

My family uses a single lap-top as our home computer and several of us have i-pods that we like to synch, using I-tunes. Although we've tried to create separate I-tune accounts, our i-tunes playlists are getting wiped out when one of us deletes songs on our I-pod and it seems as though I-tunes is not distinguishing our distinct accounts and all i-pods are being synched to reflect the latest i-pod anyone makes on their respective account. It appears as though our distinct I-tune accounts are not being loaded on our lap-top when we sign in and unfortunately, when we're in I-tunes, there is nothing to indicate what account is on the screen. For all the glowing appraisals apple-related products usually receive, we are finding i-tunes and its interface with our respective i-pods to be a very, very frustrating experience.
Can anyone shed some light on this for a family of non-techies? Thx
Pegger64You need to create separate Windows user accounts if you want to seperate the behaviour of iTunes for each user. That also means separate iTunes libraries for each user.
Windows is a multi-user operating system but you are not using it properly. iTunes is not a multi-user application. No application is. You can't expect it to treat different users differently when they are all using the same computer user account.

my iphone 4s and ipad2 both with 7.0.4 update will no longer connect to wifi.
About three days ago the ability to connect came and went and the connection never lasted more than 10-15 minutes; it has not been able to connect since last night. I do not think it's my wifi router as non-mac lap top has no issues. I have seem many similar questions posted.Reboot your router by removing all power from it for about 15 seconds. Also, if your router still has its default SSID (such as LINKSYS, DLINK, NETGEAR, etc) change the SSID to something unique. Note that all other devices on your network will have to be reconnected if you change the name, but if the name is still the default that is most likely your problem.
If the SSID is not the default then the reboot should fix it. -

While transferring Adobe from laptop to PC the licensing files got corrupt and the right way to use Adobe Applications is to install first as transferring from a different machine can give you problems.
You can try steps from this article if that helps otherwise you have to reinstall and manually delete some files , everything is mentioned.

I have recently changed lap tops and moved my itunes library successfully.
However I cannot now synce my ipod classic with the new windows pc.
The lap top is not recognising the ipod.
I have spoken to apple and they think its a settings issue on my pc ? I have fully deleted and then reinstalled itunes .
can any one help ? This should be easy to resolve but appears to be a common issue when looking on the web.

My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc. -
I am trying to authorise a new lap top for my itunes account. The instructions to me to open my itunes and go to Store then choose "Authorize this computor" or if using an older version of itunes to go to the Advanced menu. Neither of these two items appear under "Store" when I open itunes. Am I in the wrong "Store" as I cannot locate anything thing similar on the open itunes.

Bob,
They did not mean the Store; they meant the Store menu on the iTunes menu bar! It is in a row with File, Edit, View, Controls, Store, and Help, as shown below.
If you don't see the menu bar, enable it by holding the CTRL key and pressing B. -
My IPad cannot download live Tv from skygo. I have no problem with my lap top so I assume the broad band is okay. Can anybody suggest why the live streaming will not work on my iPad .
Are you using the Sky Go app to try and watch it ? If so are you logged in with your Sky account ?
If you are using the app then you could try closing the app completely and see if it works when you re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Sky Go 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Sky Go app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. -

I am using FCP 7.0.3 on my Mac Pro. I bought a new mac book pro and loaded the software on to the lap top but the software is 6.0.3. How do i get the update to the lap top?
.. and by the way, the jump from FCP 6.0.3 to FCP 7.0 (or higher) isn't an "update" It's a full version "upgrade" that has to be done using the install discs (or disc images).

On hols my lap top died and I replaced it while away - so Lap top is Fijian, but my Apple I Tunes account is British - in case that's relevant.
Trying to download iTunes to the lap top, (windows 7) but I get the same error each time. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software several times.

Iphone wont receive mail till i open my lap top ??? please help
my work email will not go to my phone until i open my lap top. once i open my lap top and all the mail loads into 'mail'.... then they pop up on my phone.
Its an exchange account. i have also tried it as an imap account. i have 4 other accounts that all work fine.. only this one account does this.What troubleshooting have you done so far? Have you follwed the steps outlined in the manual? Reset? Restore?

MacBook Pro doesnt start. When I start my lap top, it shows the apple and the line uploading but it only goes like to 1/3 and then it goes blank for some seconds, then it turns off by itself and turn on again and happen the same, apple logo, line .. the noise like-fan going on, then turn off and turn on again. Tried starting holding option command P and R key and didnt work either. Starting to think I have lost all my data inside

It tells me to review my account in settings. I tap on settings and nothing happens. My ipad is frozen. I can even shut it off. This icloud message stays on the screen and nothing works. I've looked at my settings on my lap top and everythings is okay. I bought the ipad in Palm Springs area. I can't remember if he set up I cloud for me there. Now I am in Canada. I updated my lap top to Lion so I would get I cloud, too. Should't the passwords be the same on both units when I access icloud. Something is not right. Do I throw my ipad 4 away! It won't do anything with this icloud message on the screen. Can't even cancel it. Can anyone help?

anyone help please my phone woint stop telling me everything sice pressing a button for voice on a translator app. the screen will not scroll. I have sync the phone deleted the app on the lap top but it wont let me delete it on the screen because its frozen. I have taken out the sim card.. I have turned it off now Im stuck.. Plug your phone into the wall charger for at least 30 minutes...make sure you have a sim card in the phone...then:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.
Make sure you have no anti-virus software running or any firewalls...turn all of that stuff off. -
I have multiple devices (iMacs, Lap tops, Ipads) all connected to a Nas Drive. Can I create a user for myself and one for my wife and we each have our own apple ID's, Itunes etc, but share the same data on the hard drives? So when she logs in, and sync's her ipads, they will sync with her stuff and when I do the same under my user account, on the same device, my ipads will sync with my stuff?
You can share the same Apple ID for purchasng form the iTunes and app stores without any problems, but you should all used separate iCloud accounts with separate Apple IDs. (You are not required to use the same ID for iCloud and other services as you do for the iTunes store.) This will prevent you from ending up with merged data. You should also use separate Apple IDs for iMessage and FaceTime or you will end up getting each other's text messages and FaceTime calls.
