My Pavilion Dv-6 won't turn on. Power dissipated already.

Hi everyone,
My Pavilion dv-6 just won't turn on. I don't know why. It was never treated differently prior for this to happen. Turned the laptop off just as usual.
I tried dissipating the remaining power already using the infamous method, by removing any peripheral device including battery, and the power cord, pressing + holding the power button for 45-60 second. And lastly plugging back in the power cord and try turning it on.
Still doesn't work. Please help! Thank you in advance.

Thanks for replying. But eeww, really T.T ?? it's dv6-3064ca .. I bought it on dec10/jan11, so warranty is already expired.
I am kinda prepared to bring it to some computer repair center .. hoping it won't cost me as much, I live in Vancouver..
But what did I do though, I didn't drop it, bump it or anything..

I am reading it, the one with syptoms: LEDs glow, Fan noise heard, but display is null, zilch.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

  • RESOLVED: 2-day old Pavilion 13 x360 won't turn back on after putting it to sleep...

Laptop's been great, I love it, used it for 2 days with no issues.  Today, the battery was getting a bit low and I knew it'd be awhile before I needed it again, so I selected the SLEEP option as opposed to SHUT DOWN or just closing the lid.  Got home, took a look at it, power button flashing slow blue, so I thought, ok, I'll wake it up and get back to work.  First I "wiggled" the mouse, hit space a couple of times, then resulted to hitting the power button.  Nothing.  Power button stops flashing.  Hmmmm.  Dead battery?  So I plugged it in, the amber charging light near the power port lit up, so then I try the power button again.  Nothing-no flash, not a glimmer.  Is there some "secret" way to wake this sucker up or did I just buy a $499.99 piece of landfill?  This is NOT my experience with HP PC's-I love HP.  But what's up here?  Someone PLEASE HELP!  I'm using my ancient HP Pavilion zv5000 XP dinosaur to write this!!
Kindest regards, and thanks for reading,
    Rob

EDIT:  After about 30 mins. of charging, it gives me a black screen with CHECKSUM INVALID, RECOMMEND REBOOT-HIT ANY KEY TO BEGIN.  So I GUESS I'm ok?  SORRY for jumping the gun-new hardware scares me...  love you guys!

  • HP 655 won't turn on, power light on and won't turn off.

My HP 655 laptop has apparently gone into sleep mode, permanently. It was up, went into sleep mode and now it will not come back up. I have removed the battery and unplugged the power source for an hour. As soon as I plug in the power or battery, the power button lights up but the laptop will not turn on, no matter how long I hold the power button down. I even plugged in the HDMI cord to make sure that it wasn't the screen, obviously,  which it wasn't.

    Hello  ,
To get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial product. You can do this at Commercial Forums.
Even though this is a Commercial product, try performing a hard reset. Lots of information in this document that could help. When performing a hard reset please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices.

  • 2008 MBPro won't turn on/power issues

My friend's 2008 Macbook Pro (5,1) has been acting really screwy this past month. First the (original) battery would not hold a charge and now it's failing to start up. Today it just sat there with no sign of life, despite being on the charger and swapping out two different batteries. I opened it up and blew it out (there was a decent bit of dust) then reseated the RAM and reset the SMC for good measure (something he had already tried) and it did start up and recover.
Does this sound like a failing logic board? Or perhaps a jinky power connection? It's up and running now but everything points to a massive FAIL looming on the horizon, and I don't know if anything can be fixed versus scrapping it and buying a newer model. Both batteries were close to full and the power adapter had a green light, but nothing we tried would turn it on until I opened it up and reseated everything.
FWIW, he and I both bought the same model at the same time; both were Apple refurb and we've upgraded the RAM to 8GB using OWC chips. He still has the stock HD and I replaced mine with a bigger one, otherwise they're the same. And I haven't had nearly as many problems as he's had with his.

I do not see anything critically bad, just the battery has seen a fair amount of use and if it is the original, that is what is expected.  Favor me once more and download from the Internet Coconut Battery (free):
    http://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutbattery/
Post the image.  This is from mine:
I am interested in the 'health' or current capacity divided by battery capacity.  If it is 80% or more, than that is good,  If it is less, then a new battery may be considered.

  • Week-old Pro won't turn on, power cord doesn't light up

I bought a new 13" non-retina MacBook Pro a week ago. Now my laptop will not turn on, and there is no green/amber light on the power cord when it is connected.
Backstory: I've already had problems with this machine. The same day I bought it, it no longer recognized my admin password that I had set up and logged in with several times. I had to reinstall the operating system.
The day it stopped working, I had been transferring some files from my old laptop to the pro via an external hard drive. The laptops charge was getting low, so I plugged in the charger. In order to do this, I had to unplug & replug the external hard drive's power cord to get both to fit. I was dumb and forgot that it was necessary for the drive to work, but after I had realized this I assumed that it wasn't such a big deal. After all, I had already transferred everything I need over and there was nothing on the drive that controlled the laptop in any way. There was a popup similar to when a flash drive isn't ejected properly. It said that some things on the drive could be corrupted, but I didn't pay much notice because, as I said, everything I needed was already off. However, after I clicked "ok", the machine shut down.
Now, my laptop is completely unresponsive. No lights, no fan, nothing at all that would show it is functioning at all. Pressing the power button does nothing. When I plug in the charger, there's no colored indicator. I know this isn't an issue with the charger, because I tried another charger and it too did not have a green/amber light.
Does anyone know what's wrong, or how I can fix this? If not, I'm bringing it back in to Apple to be fixed/returned.

    Clare,
Please don't be insulted here, but sometimes the obvious is the stuff that bites us. Are you sure the power cord is plugged into a good outlet? If you're using the cord that attaches in place of the onboard AC connector, is it securely snapped in?
It seems odd that this happened when it did, meaning you were low on power to begin with. If you think about it, this is how a no power to the charger situation would behave.

  • Bluetooth won't turn on on my new c5

I received a c5 phone this august but the bluetooth won't turn on. I already updated the software, tried the factory settings but it's no use. Could this be a factory defect? I am planning to exchange it back to Nokia but i don't have the receipt anymore. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

TC die at around 3years.. earlier models generally faster.. so most a dead already.
There is nothing you can do.. either repair or dispose of it. Apple will not assist unless it is less than 3years old and you have applecare on a computer.
Even then they will replace with a refurbished of the same model.
Some of us do not like the throw away model Apple has adopted.. but if it is Gen 1 or even Gen 2 it could be time for update.

These are seldom worth the expense of repairing. Once they are over 3years.. the cost of parts is a significant percentage of the new items.. the hard drive can be pulled to recover your files. Ask a tech in a repair centre for help doing that.

  • HP Pavilion DV2500 won't turn on

I'm posting this out of desperation, hoping that someone out there can offer some advice. My wife's HP Pavilion DV2500 won't turn on. When I press the power button, the blue "power LED" comes on (as do the blue lights under the DVD controls and the "harddisk LED" flashes once... the computer fan whirrs into action, but then nothing happens. The screen is always black, nothing appears on the screen. I've tried removing the battery and holding the power button for 60 seconds. I've tried turning it on with the power cord and battery both in, just the power cord no battery, just the battery no power cord, etc. It doesn't make any difference - doesn't power on with any of those configurations. I've also tried unscrewing the panel on the bottom and removing one RAM chip, leaving the other in. Then putting it back and removing the other. Then removing them both. Again, it doesn't make any difference - doesn't power on with any of those configurations. (FYI, the blue light around the AC adapter does light up blue when the AC adapter is plugged in... so that's not the problem) Any tips? The computer is out of warranty, and I'm living in France. It's nearly three years old, so it's probably not worth the labor costs of taking it to a service center. I'm happy to open it up and try to fix it myself - unless it involves a soldering iron! Please... any advice much appreciated.... thank you!!

I hadn't used my my DV2500 for about a week. Last night I switched it on no problem downloaded and installed the MS updates ok.About 15 mins later the machine switched off with no warning, and it was connected to the mains, so no power issues.I started the machine up again which started loading Windows Vista Home Premium. during startup it switched off again.I started machine again and message stated Windows Start up repair recommended which I proceeded to do, another message appeared stating that Windows needed to be repaired, so I bit the bullet and decided to reinstal the o/s from the factory image. The machine loaded the Windows files and started to format error message appeared stating corrupt windows file and that I should load the recovery disc which I did. I rebooted the machine from the disc, started to format again and the machine switched off again. All that happens now when I switch on are the blue lights come on. I cannot access the bios or anything, it will not boot up from the disc, just pretty blue lights!I now have a machine that has no o/s pretty blue lights and a blank black screen. From reading the other posts it seems like a motherboard problem.Ideas anyone? p/n  KC453UA#ABA

  • Pavilion dv6-2044ca laptop screen won't turn on, unresponsive

Hi, I have an HP Pavilion dv6-2044ca laptop that was purchased in late 2009, running windows 7. It was working normally the other night when I went to get a drink, and when I came back the screen was off. I couldn't get the screen to turn back on by moving my mouse, so I shut the computer down and restarted it. When I started it back up, it sounded normal, but the screen continued to not turn on. I tried taking out the battery and holding the power button for the power reset method referenced often on these forums, to no avail. I hooked it up to an external monitor but nothing showed up. When turned on, the caps lock and num lock lights won't turn on, however the light indicating it's plugged in, the lights for sound and wifi, and the light indicating the mousepad is turned on all light up. I have made no changes to the hardware or software in weeks. I'm at a loss as to problem solving methods at this point, and would greatly appreciate a more experienced opinion on the matter!
    Kevin

Try a hard reset. Remove battery and AC power. Hold down power button 30 seconds. Now put AC power to it and try to fire it up. It is a 100 to 1 longshot but worth trying. If that does not work it ain't sounding good. Maybe try removing and reseating the RAM sticks, but other than that a new motherboard might be the only fix.

  • My pavilion dv7 won't turn on

Left it on like I usually do n went to work. Came back and it is dead. It won't turn on

Try a hard reset as follows:
    1) Remove the battery and unplug the DC power adapter.
    2) Press and hold the power button for more than fifteen seconds.
    3) Plug in the DC power adapter (leave the battery out for now)
    4) Press the power button

So I have a brand new hp pavilion running on windows 8, but as the title states it won't turn on anymore. The problem started after I accidentally removed the battery when it was running.
