  • I own a HP Pavilion dv6915nr, it stopped working suddenly.

    Hello,
    HP Pavilion dv6915nr.
    Windows Vista home premium 32-bit.
I own a HP Pavilion dv6915nr, it stopped working suddenly last night. It was working perfectly, I was watching a video on HULU and I stepped away for 2 or 3 minutes, when I came back the screen was off. The laptop seemed to be on sleep, but when I tried to use it again it didn't do anything. When I try to turn it on the keyboard lights turn on for about 2 seconds, then it goes completely off and there is a faint cracking sound on the speaker bar.
I already tried taking the batteries off and using the AC/DC adapter only, it did not work. When I plug-in the AC/DC adapter the light around the power connector turns on.
Hope someone could help me. Thanks.

Try a hard reset, works sometimes.Disconnect all external devices first.
    1-remove power cord and battery
2-press power button for 30 seconds
3-reinstall only power cord for first startup.
    4-power on
******Clicking the Thumbs-Up button is a way to say -Thanks!.******

  • Pavilion g6 sound stops working after a while

Over the past week the sound in my laptop has begun to stop working after a while of the laptop being on. It works initially but after a while when I check it doesn't work anymore. The mute button does not mute work, the volume increse and decreases on the screen but it does not affect the absense of sound. Please Help.
System Details: HP Pavilion g6, Windows 8

HI. I'm having the same problem. This has been happening for some time now. I can play anything with sound and then it suddenly goes and I can't use the mute/on/off or work out what's happening. Is it a fault?

  • HP Pavilion dv6 audio stops working upon inserting headphone

I have a HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC with Windows 7 64-bit Service Pack 1 installed. Almost every time that I insert a headphone into either of the two headphone jacks the audio stops functioning and this issue continues even after I remove the headphone from the headphone jack. As a result when I want to play an audio on my laptop I get an error that there is a problem with the driver/sound device. I have the latest IDT High Definition Audio Codec driver installed, i.e. sp59542 ver. 6.10.6381.0. Occasionaly, disabling and enabling, or uninstalling and reinstalling the audio driver would resolve the issue but the problem would happen again upon connecting a headphone to my laptop. I have used two different headphones (differen brands) and the problem continues. From the searches I have done this seems to be a hardware issue and something related to the on/off switch in the headphone jack so I was wondering if HP is aware of this and whether any recall has been made. It looks like there are different symptoms associated with this hardware issue. Any help with fixing this problem would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi HP-User22,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP Pavilion dv6 and audio stops working when inserting headphone. Here is a link to update the BIOS.
I would be happy to assist if needed. How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Have you tried to run a hardware test? Here is a link to do a hardware test. This will test all hardware functions.

  • HP pavilion dv6 touchpad stopped working (read this if you have dropped your computer)!

Hello, this is not a question it is advice for people having touchpad issues with their dv6 (I've noticed a quite a few posts). My touchpad suddenly completely stopped working one day (didn't respond to anything that I did).
Most of the forums I've been to (actually, all of them... and they were many) ask you to try reinstalling the driver. However, if you did not recently uprage your OS or make any such major changes this is not likely to be the issue.
Try going to device manager. If your touchpad is not showing up under the mouse and pointer devices section (it should say Synaptics something or other) then it means that either something is broken OR your touchpad came unseeded.
For me, it was the second option (I drop my laptop... occasionally). The cable for the touchpad is held in place by a little plastic lever-like clamp. It can easily become loose, so try this out before taking your computer into a repair shop (and loosing it for weeks, not to mention the price if you're not under warranty!)
    Three easy steps:
    1) take the removable bottom cover off (that little plastic bit in the center where your hard drive is). For my model (6145dx), it just snaps off (with a flathead screw driver or other tool for leverage). You might have to unsrew a few things, but it should be easy.
    2) Take out the hard drive (held in place by 4 screws in most cases). You do not need to disconnect the cables leading to the hard drive! Just pull it out and lay it off to the side.
    3) Toward the very front of your computer (right under where your hard drive was, and where the touchpad is on the top cover) you will see the ribbon cables coming from your keyboard, touchpad, etc. Give them a little wiggle (just pull the plastic tabs that stick up. If one of them moves, then you need to re-clamp it! Push the cable all the way in and push down the lever.
Super easy! Should solve all your problems!

So my touchpad wasn't working and I have an HP dv6-6135dx. It started being messed up shortly after I took my PC apart to upgrade the screen. Sometimes it worked perfectly, sometimes it was completely unresponsive, sometimes the ring around the touchpad was lit, other times it wasn't etc.... It got worse and worse to the point where the touch pad almost never worked.
I followed this guide, and it didn't fix the problem; however, this got me thinking, and I pulled the keyboard out and reseated the touchpad cable where it connects right under there. BAM works perfectly. THANK YOU so much for this post, for some reason I didn't think to reseat the cable... I must have not plugged it back in completely when I took my laptop apart. You can find the service manual for the dv6t here Its in the first post

  • HP Pavilion x360 touchscreen stops working with Win 8.1 pro

I currently have a HP Pavilion x360 2in1 convertible laptop.  The model # is 11-n010dx.  My issue is the touchscreen was working just fine with Win 8 on it, however, I need to be able to connect to my work network and that requires Win 8.1 pro.  I did the upgrade to Win 8.1 pro 64-bit and the touchscreen is not even recognized by the OS.  It states "No pen or Touch input is available for this display."  I have installed all of the drivers, nothing is missing from the device manager.  I try to install SP57846 but get an error that states that my computer does not meet the minimum requirememnt for this update.  I just need drivers to run my touchscreen in Win 8.1 pro 64-bit.
    Thanks

    Hi @ThundarTheOrk ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion 11-n010dx x360 and the Touchscreen not working correctly after a Windows 8.1 update. Here is a link to a document on troubleshooting the Touchscreen.
Here is a fix I found from Microsoft.
The touchscreen shouldn’t need recalibration, but if you or another user has recalibrated it, it may affect the performance of the touchscreen.
Here’s how to check or restore the factory default calibration using a keyboard or mouse:
Press the Windows logo key Type Control Panel, then use the arrow keys to highlight Control Panel, and press Enter.
In Control Panel, use the arrow keys to highlight Hardware and Sound and press Enter.
Under Tablet PC Settings use the arrow keys to highlight Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input, and press Enter.
Use the Tab key to select the Reset button, and press Enter.
If the Reset button is grayed out, your Surface touch calibration is still at factory settings and nothing further required.
Use the Tab key to select Yes, press Enter, and then follow the instructions on the screen.
    Hope this works for you.
    Thanks.

  • Pavilion dv6 headphones stop working when certain programs launched

My pavilion dv6 (product number: A5F76AV; OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit) is brand new, just arrived yesterday. On startup, the headphones work fine when watching videos online and for any other system audio, but when I launch a game (through steam) I no longer get audio through the headphones (system reverts back to playing audio through the onboard speakers). Once this happens, no audio comes through the headphones regardless of the source, although the volume coming from the onboard speakers changes somewhat when the headphones are plugged in and unplugged.
I've tried manually downloading and installing the audio driver for my computer by going through the HP support website, but doing so did not help. I would be extremely grateful for any help that can be offered.
    Thank you.

  • Pavilion DV6 1320sl stopped working and will not boot

Pavillion DV6 1320 was beiing used.  Had been running hot - fan was on all the time. The left mouse pad button was pushed and the screen went black with a blinking cursor. It will not boot.  There have been no software or hardware changes, a nd it hasn't been dropped.  Win  7 64 bit is installed and it has run OK since new in 2009.  There are no error messages.  Turning off the machine is with i single depress of the power button.
Turning machine on disk=plays BIOS message to sel esc to enter BIOS.  From BIOS, system check of memory, hard disk and hard disk SMART have been run.  All passed.
No other BIOS function works - ie f9, f8 ,or f11 all do nothing.
I ran the hard reset to no avail.  The buttons glow but the screen remains black with blinking cursor.  I followed the HP guideline for trouble shooting a black screen with glowing buttons.  Didn't help.  swapped each memory bank and tried each possible bank configuration.  Didn't help.  Replaced the RTC battery and reset BIOS to default.  Didn't help.  Hooked up another monitor but that didn't help either.
I did not try system restore, but f11 doesn't work and booting from cd was unclear as to results - I didn't have  a boot disk so I used disk 1 of the restore set.  Nothing happened.
I used canned air to blow out the cooling holes but they didn't seem clogged (although the fan was on much of the time these past few months).
I'd appreciate any ideas.  Perhaps a component has been burned.  What would be the visible symptoms of a CPU failure?  What about the chip set - if the Northbridge fails, what would it look like?
I don't think it has actually loaded and is a video chip failure but who knows?  I'm open to suggestions.
    Rob

Thank you and yes it is an Airport Express.
Reset router; could not locate the unit using the Airport Utility.....took back for an exchange under warranty as it was only a week old....no problems at store - exchanged for a new one

  • HP Pavilion dv6 speakers stopped working but headset jack working fine

    OS Installed : windows 7 64 bit

I would first start with performing a hard reset. This will remove all electricity from the laptop unlike a reset or shut down. Here is a link that will walk you through the steps: http://goo.gl/25kKj
If this does not work post back with your exact laptop model number and we will continue from there.
    Thanks!

  • Pavilion dv7 fingerprint reader stops working after several hibernate/suspend cycles

After severl hibernate cycles, the fingerprint reader on my Pavilion dv7 latop stops working. The indicator LED no longer flashes (in either colour), and nothing happens when I scan my fingerprint. I'm forced to revert to password login.
This has been an issue since getting the laptop. Fingerprint scanning works fine at first after a reboot, but when I hibernate (or, for that matter, suspend) the laptop after using, I'm never sure whether the scanner is going to work when I restart it. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, and the only way that I've so far found to fix it is to reboot.
I've tried using installing the latest driver from HP's support site, although it seems to be dated May, 2011, and, interestingly, claims to fix a problem with not restarting after several hibernate cycles (hint: it doesn't). I've tried uninstalling and then re-installing the driver. Doesn't seem to make much difference.
Laptop is an HP Pavilion dv7-6166nr with Windows 7 64-bit Professional installed (although the problem was present with the factory-installed Windows 7 Home Premium).

Try downloading and running the HP Support Assistant if you have not already. It can search for updates for you specific to your notebook. Here is a link to the download: http://goo.gl/gvpTr

  • Quicklaunge buttons on my HP Pavilion dv7-2260ed not working and always red

The quicklaungebuttons (Mute, Volume, cd options and wireless) on my HP Pavilion dv7-2260ed stopped working and are always red.  This happend 3 weeks ago. I runned the HP assistent but no errors were found. Any help is welcome

Hi, I have more or less exactly the same problem.
I own a pavilion dv7 1090eb, which originally had Vista 32bit on it, but I updated to Windows 7 32bit more than a year ago,
not long after 7 was released. Ever since that update (or a few days after, I don't really remember) I've been having problems with the quick launch buttons.
For over a year it was just my mute button that was always orange. I could still mute my sound, but when not muted, it sounded like it was really filtered, all the low and the high were gone, only low mid sounds remained.
My jack exits, both of them, however, still work fine, and I have good audio through external speakers, so I kind of solved that.
But still, the laptop itself has great sound, so I should be able to get that without having to carry around external speakers wherever I go.
Oh and I used to have the same problem with Vista from time to time, but after rebooting it would just go back to normal.
But now just today, I left my laptop on for about 2 hours for some image rendering while I was away, and I switched the wifi off, which I usually do when I leave my laptop unattended. But when I came back, it wouldn't turn back on again, and none of the quick launch buttons worked anymore.
I tried reinstalling all drivers after I did some troubleshooting options which didn't work.
Turned it off and on again a couple of times.
Then found this thread and installed the above link, rebooted, still doesn't work.
What now? What can I do to resolve this problem?
I really hope I can get a solution for this.

  • Pavilion dv9880ee speaker not working

One of my two built-in laptop speakers has stopped working. I've already updated my Audio driver, but it seems like it has nothing to do with my audio channels because it works fine with my headphones.

OS: Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit Edition

  • WiFi (Key) stopped working after upgrade to Windows 10

I thought I would post this on the forum for those who are having the same problem because help for this issue is few and far between compared to the number of pleas for assistance from HP owners. When I upgraded to Windows 10 on my Pavilion, the WiFi stopped working and I could not turn it on using the hot key (F12). I searched for answers and worked hours trying to solve it until I came upon the only suggestion that worked for me: I had to disable fast boot (power options, change what the buttons do, "change settings that are currently unavailable" (?!?)) , so I could get into the bios and then I went into the bios by pressing f10 during boot.  Reset them to defaults.  (Changed from default back to what I wanted) saved and the wifi button turned white after pressing during windows 10 boot up. EDIT: If it does not turn on right away, try turning it on through the wifi settings. I hope this can help a few, who like me, struggled endlessly for a problem that few HP mods seem to be responding to. Cheers.

  • HP Pavilion dm1-4000au Entertainment Notebook PC_Keyboard and Touchpad Suddenly Stops Working

    Hi there,
I have an HP Pavilion dm1-4000au Entertainment Notebook PC (QG411PA) running Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit for more than a couple of years already. During those times up until now, whenever my laptop is on standby for an hour or so, its keyboard and touchpad suddenly stops working, regardless if its running on battery or on AC power.
I always ensure that I have an external mouse in order for me to navigate properly and pull up the on-screen keyboard in order to type once that issue arises.
All appears to be updated in terms of Windows Updates and I even reformatted it, but issue still persists.
Is this particular issue that I am experiencing a harware issue? Perhaps a software issue? Or maybe a defective model itself?
Your prompt response is highly appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    Led

  • Pavilion G7 wireless adapter stopped working and now will no longer boot.

    I bought a Pavilion G7 about 7 months ago.
After a couple of months, the wireless adapter stopped working, it just disappeared from the Device Manager (Win7 Home).
I reset the computer to factory settings and it fixed that problem.
One month after this, the wireless adapter problem returned, I tried to use system recovery to restore it to a previous point, no luck.
I closed the laptop after this, didn't turn it off.
Opened it up and decided to watch a video I had on there, I had to pause the video halfway through (used Windows media player). Came back to continue watching and the screen was black. No lightbar activity, just blackness.
I pressed a few buttons, nothing.
Decided to do a hard reset (hold the power button for 8 seconds) then I left it and turned it on again, the blank screen returned, no signs of life, no boot, no HDD activity, nothing. The caps lock button was on, the wireless light (of course) was orange.
What on Earth has gone wrong? What can I do to fix this?
    Thanks.
