My pc cannot find itunes

I moved my "my music" folder from my C drive to an external drive. Now I get an error message
"The folder "itunes" cannot be found or created, and is required. The default location for this folder is inside the My Music folder."
I moved my itunes folder back to the c drive in my music but I still get the same error message. I tried reinstalling itunes to no avail.

"The folder "itunes" cannot be found or created, and is required. The default location for this folder is inside the My Music folder."
The best place to start with that one is with the following document:
iTunes for Windows: "Disk is locked" or "iTunes folder cannot be found" when installing or opening iTunes
… but if you run into the complication where “My Music” doesn’t appear as an option in TweakUI, perhaps try the alternate procedure from the following Nigel Carpenter post:

  • HT1926 my itunes will not update due to an error message saying cannot find itunes.msi

I need help to resolve the fact that my computer will not update. It gives me a message about 95% way through the update that it cannot find itunes.msi and I also went to just uninstall the program completely off my computer and it gives me the same message. Help please!

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • Error message, Cannot find iTunes Connect user

I cant access my I tunes from my Iphone, I get the following. Authentication Error. Cannot find iTunes connect user (2002)(2002)

    Hello wallydt,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
Resolve specific iTunes update and restore errors
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694
    Check USB connections
If there’s an issue with the USB port, cable, dock, or hub, or if the device becomes disconnected during restore, try troubleshooting the USB connection, then troubleshooting your security software.
    Common errors: 13, 14, 1600-1629, 1643-1650, 2000-2009, 4000, 4005, 4013, 4014, 4016, “invalid response”, and being prompted to restore again after a restore completes.
To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
    Use another USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port on your computer.
Try a different dock connector (or no dock).
Add (or remove) a USB hub between your device and computer.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, with no routers, hubs, or switches.
If you see your error after changing your USB connections, continue to the next section to troubleshoot your hardware.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

  • Itunes won't install update to recognize my iphone comes up with a error cannot find Itunes.msi

my itunes won't instal the update errors saying cannot find itunes.msi

    Hi, kdub5.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that you can not update iTunes due to a .msi error.  I would recommend uninstalling iTunes and all of it's components as outlined in the first article below.  For any component that gives you the .msi error, go through the steps in the second article below.
Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable" alert appears when you remove Apple software in Windows

  • Can't install or uninstall iTunes because cannot find iTunes.msi

Everytime I try to install or uninstall iTunes it won't let me do it...even though I have downloaded it, it keeps telling me "Cannot locate iTunes.Msi"
    Any ideas?

I was able to solve my problem by following all the directions at the following Apple site - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1926?viewlocale=en_US
I was not able to remove the iTunes program using Add/Remove Programs from the Control Panel; however, that didn't seem to matter. I removed the directories and used the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility. I reinstalled iTunes Ver 8.1.1.10 with no problems. I'm sticking with this version for the time being.

  • Cannot find iTunes in My Music

I have copied my music folder to an external HD as back up, and now I cannot access iTunes on my c drive or elsewhere for that matter. I have tried all the logical steps. Repair iTunes, Uninstall and re-install iTunes, but I keep getting a message that says " The folder 'iTunes' cannot be found or created, and is required. The default location for this folder is inside the 'My Music' folder. "
The appropriate files all appear to be where they should be, but still I canot get back into iTunes. I appeared to have duplication on my c drive of "my music" folders so have moved this back to only one folder.
    Please Help me.

here is the best place to start with that message:

  • Message "cannot find Itunes on this computer"

Hi - I have a weird problem - I Tunes is installed, I can access and use it (and the store) from the taskbar and Google Chrome, but can't access it from Explorer - I get a message "can't find ITunes on this computer" and a download icon. I've tried downloading (even though it's already on the computer) and still get the same message. It's not a big deal as I can still get to ITunes, but I'd like to know what is going on with it and Explorer. Privacy settings seem to be okay, and disabling the firewall hasn't helped. Ideas anyone?

    Explorer
Just doublechecking, remy ... is that *Internet Explorer,* the web browser, that you're having the trouble with? (As opposed to Windows Explorer, the Windows Desktop?)

  • My computer cannot find iTunes folder !!

I have an older laptop with 40G memory, so I store my iTunes on an external hard drive (H Drive).
I went to open my iTunes this morning and it says: "The folder iTunes cannot be found or created, and is required. The default location of this folder is inside the 'My Music' folder".
I can find the My Music folder in the H Drive. When I opened it, all the individual (3,000 +) song title icons appear; but when i click on one, I get the same error message.
One of the suggestions on the Support site is to re-install the iTunes software. I'm afraid that if I do, I will erase all my library for good. I want to make sure they won't disappear forever before re-installing.
    PLEASE help !!!

  • Itunes cannot find itunes library.itl file?

We are having difficulty on our XP Pro PC opening iTunes to update an iPhone. We keep getting a message that itunes cannot locate the above .itl file. But the file is there where it supposed to be.

Are they brought in this Music folder by hand perhaps?
In Finder go to the Music/iTunes folder, there look for a folder called iTunesMusic, in there is a folder called "Automatically Add To iTunes", move all music from the folder where they are now to this folder: iTunes will automatically build its library.

  • HT4946 cannot find itunes backup on my PC (win xp). want to move over to external hard drive to restore from backup bc PC not enough space

i just restored my ipad2 to iOS 6.1.3 yesterday. i have been trying to restore from backup, but i keep getting error messages from itunes (running latest version of itunes) that says there is not enough space to save the backup on the computer. i have tried clearing up as much space on my PC (windows xp), but there is still not enough room. and ive tried disk cleanup on my computer and resetting the ipad and running it through recovery mode (as some articles sugggested it would help with restoring after failed attempts). i read on another question in the apple support discussions that someone just moved his whole backup folder into his external harddrive and then he was able to restore from backup.
the backup is definitely saved on my computer (itunes confirms that), and the backup folder is supposed to be here  \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\, but im still not finding it with that file path. i get as far as "username" and then i dont see "application data" and so on. but when i try searching that file path in google chrome, i find it and i see it, but its strange that i cant find it in the "docs and settings" folder in my C drive.
please help! i just want to be able to move the backup folder to my external to restore from backup. thank you in advance!!

Thank you! I was able to find it. Im sorry, i have a few follow up questions. Does the iTunes have to be running from my external as well to do the restore from backup? And if so, how do I move iTunes to external and run it from there? Also, I just copied over the "backup" folder (last part of that file path to my external, is that enough, or did I have to copy it starting from the beginning (docs and settings and so forth)? Lastly, when I select restore from backup in iTunes, would it automatically know that it's the copy on my external to restore backup from? Or do I have to delete or do something with the original file path in my computer?
    Thank you!

  • Trying to update my iTunes.....keeps telling me it cannot find iTunes.msi

I have iTunes 11.1.3.8 and when I try update iTunes it is looking for iTunes.msi and can't find the file. I have searched around is there something I can do to fix this without reloading windows. I am also concerned about  loosing any information if I install on a new load of windows. How can I ensure I don't wipe a device. The iPods used to get wiped when connected to a new computer. Do the iPads and iPhones get wiped when connected to a new computer.i have iPad 4 iPad Air and iPhone thanks for any help

    Hello, KokoMerlin.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I would recommend doing a complete uninstall and new install of iTunes as outlined in the steps below.  Uninstalling iTunes on your computer will not alter your iTunes library.
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923
Since you are receiving an error that a .msi file can not be located, you will need to process the steps in the article below for any component that gives you this error during the uninstall process.
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable" alert appears when you remove Apple software in Windows

  • 10.5.3 update will not install..cannot find iTunes msi, 10.5.3 update will not install..cannot find iTunes msi

how do I correct iTunes to find the msi so I can install the lastest update 10.5.3?

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?
