My pc harddrive crashed.  is there a way to download my ipod to the computer to keep what i have?

My external harddrive crashed and i wondered if there is a way to download my ipod and save both purchased and music from my CD's.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy.  Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you failed to maintain a backup, then you can transfer itunes purchases:  File>Transfer Purchases.
The ipod is not a backup device.

Is there a way to play itunes music while the computer is shut?

Not without either an external monitor and keyboard, or using a hack. If you want to try an hack app, look into:

    Use at your own risk.

is there a way to get my ipod past the logo screen ?

    - Have you tried resetting the iPod. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
-Next connect the iPod to its syncing computer, if iTunes sees the iPod restore the iPod via iTunes.
    - If iTunes does not see the iPod see if placing the iPod in recovery mode will allow iTunes to see the iPod so your can restore the iPod.  For recovey mode see:

Is there a way to download my iPod to my MacBook?
    Thanks

Im having that same problem, i have a windows formated ipod and i want to move all the music to my new macbook. and like you i want to do it from my ipod, not networking the comps together. im a bit worried though about using some of these "programs" that say they can do that, since apple seems to be against taking it straight from the ipod.

  • Is there a way to get lightroom to search the computer for catalogs like aperture does?

Is there a way to get lightroom to search the computer for catalogs like aperture does? I've switched over from Aperture to Lightroom, and i liked how in Aperture when i went to open "other library" it would basically scan all connected drives for them, and show me when last opened and what version. Is there a way to do this with Lightroom, either in program or by a third party app?

The user interface is on a level of elementary PC software
something I have deteced till now
    no free moving workspace windows
no search function for the whole catalog
no support of mpg files in the archive
    no chromatic appararture correction
second screen sometimes gets lost, when moving between screens
no automatic creation of collection ( very risky direct interfacing with the original file system )
wrong counting of objects in catalog folder when creating virtuel copies
What worked good is the import of the APERTURE Archive ( 40000 objects ) took me one night and its there with the above obsticles!!! I am using just three days and I have to say
    not user friendly
    not workflow supporting
    risky user interfacing with masters
As JimHess stated, there is no risk working with the masters.
Chromatic aberation correction is available in Lightroom, searching the entire catalog is available in Lightroom.
With regards to your other comments, the idea that Lightroom should work the same (or very similar) to Aperture is one that you should remove from your thoughts. It will only get you into trouble. Lightroom is not Aperture and will not work the same, and has different underlying principles, and so its pointless to think you will be able to do everything the same way you did it in Aperture. You need to be open to Lightroom's features, and Lightroom's way of doing things. I agree with JimHess that it takes most people a while to learn Lightroom's way of doing things, but your patience will be rewarded.

  • Is there a way to download all songs from the cloud in one step?

Is there any way to download all my songs from the cloud in one step?

Ok, if you're wondering about an iOS device, there is no way to do that - you have to tap all of the cloud icons.
But I do have a workaround.
Store all the songs all locally on your Mac
Disable iTunes Match on your iOS device
Plug your iOS device into the computer (or this can be done with Wifi sync)
Sync all songs to your device
Now enable iTunes Match on your iOS device
You now have all songs stored locally on your iOS device and iTunes Match is enabled, so your metadata syncs over iCloud, and you no longer have to plug your device in to update its music library. :)

  • Is there a way to use multiple ipods on one computer without them overwriting each other?

i have in total 3 ipods.
One is an the square ipod. (the one with the moving screen on the right)
the second is an ipod shuffle (the touch screen one)
and i just got an ipod touch. (the colorful one)
i still use all my ipods but on my first two i use the same itunes for it. so for example, i use one ipod to download all of my music library.
then i connect my second ipod only to download selected songs.
but now that i have an ipod touch, one of the ipods is going to be overwritten.
So is there a way for that not to happen?
having a flash drive for a seperate itunes for one ipod is to much of a hassle.
but if anyone has the answers, i would greatly appriaciate it.
    thanks! : D

Why do you think that one will be over written?
You can sync as many ipods/iphones/ipads as you like to one computer.  Each is different and will only sync what you select.

  • Is there a way to make photo files on the computer the same as the files in iPhoto?

I have all my photos organized in iPhoto but they are not organized the same way in the photo section of my files.  Is there a way to have them show the same files?  When ever I need to add a photo to a website I can't find the same one's I have in iPhoto since I'm only able to upload them from the photo file section and not iPhoto.
    Thanks!

No and neither is there any need to.
When ever I need to add a photo to a website I can't find the same one's I have in iPhoto since I'm only able to upload them from the photo file section and not iPhoto.
Just need to learn how to use iPhoto:
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:   You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.  If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later:  You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation  which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File:  a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier:  Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.    3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • Is there any way to use my iphone through the computer?

Today at work, my phone screen, which was already cracked, got messed up to the point where the screen is getting false touch signals. It is resonating from the top left of the screen and traveling down the fracture and making the phone impossible to use. I can barely open the lock screen, and there is no way to access any of the apps (including the actual call aspect). I want to know if there is a way for me to be able to use my phone through my computer, at least to be able to access my contact list and turn off an alarm I had set for tomorrow which I would prefer not to go off, since I would never be able to actually deactivate it...
My problem makes it impossible to even shut off the phone, and since I use it as my house phone as well, it would really be amazing of there was some way to work it through the computer. I also am wary about letting the battery run dry because I want to be able to see if people are trying to contact me.
    Any help is appreciated, thanks!

This is not a feature of the iPhone or iOS.

  • Is there a way for LabVIEW to know if the computer has an ethernet connection active?

I need to know in my VI if the computer has a network connection, to avoid trying to connect through TCP/IP when the connection is not available. I would prefer to know if there is a connection available rather than rely on errors coming from the TCP/IP functions not being able to connect.
Windows instantly knows when a network cable is unplugged. Is there a function in LabVIEW that can similarly instantly detect a connection?
Or, does anybody know if there is a Windows-provided dll that contains the function that the taskbar indicator uses to know if there is a connection present. If there is, then I could call the dll from LabVIEW and know the connection status.
    Thanks.
    Alejandro

    Hi there,
    there`s an API
    unsigned long WNetAddConnectionA(CStr lpRemoteName, CStr lpPassword, CStr lpLocalName);
    in mpr.dll.
lpRemoteName the address of a network resource (e.g. "\\YOURSERVER\YOURDRIVE")
    lpPassword may be NULL
lpLocalName should be NULL, otherwise the API maps lpRemoteName to the drive you specify in lpLocalName (e.g. lpLocalName = "e:")
if all is ok, the API returns 0, otherwise some errorcodes.

  • Is there a way to move a library from one computer to another if they have different Apple IDs?

I just got a Macbook Pro and all of my music is on my old PC. We bought the Mac so I could take it to college. I was thinking about making a new Apple ID because all the devices in my house (My mom's stuff and my sister's stuff) all use the same ID so that we could Facetime once I was gone.
Is the process the same for moving the library as it would be for 2 computers with the same Apple ID?

Is the process the same for moving the library as it would be for 2 computers with the same Apple ID?
If you're using home sharing for the move, yes. I'd be inclined to use the Apple ID of the iTunes Store account on the PC you're moving stuff from as the Apple ID to set up the Home Share on each computer. (You're going to need to have the new Mac authorised to the account you used to make purchases on the old PC to play any purchased items with DRM on them from the old PC, anyway.)
