My PC has broken, if I buy a Mac, can I transfer my entire library over with ease?

That depends. What is broken on the PC? If the hard drive has failed and you do not have a backup, you will need to look into data recovery services.
It's easy to move stuff over from a working PC. One that is not functioning is a bit more difficult.
Take a look at this Apple article about data migration from a PC, it may be useful.
Best of luck.

  • Need help!! How can I transfer my entire MediaCenter? Old laptop broken

My old laptop has broken down and I have no current backup of my iTunesMedia. Anyway, is there a possibility to transfer my entire mediacenter to my new laptop or not?
I looked for a solution in many communities, but the only thing I read is that I can now only transfer the songs that I bought in the iTunes Store.
At the moment, I've got about 1900 songs on my nano and "only" 250 of them are "iTunes Songs", I got the rest from friends etc. and not all the other songs are saved on my hard disk.
    Can you help me?

  • I have had CS3 on a windows desktop that has died and now have a mac can the licence be used to down load it in mac format or have I got to purchase it again.?

I Have had CS3 on a windows desktop that has died and I now have a mac, will my licence allow me to download a mac version of
CS3 or do I have to buy a new package and licence?

Unfortunately your CS3 license is Windows only.
There is a platform transfer process available from Adobe but that only applies to CS6.
Order product | Platform, language swap
Your options now are either to buy superseded CS6 for Mac or join the Cloud and get the latest versions, provided your hardware and operating system meets the system requirements.
With the Cloud you can install on both Mac and/or Windows for no extra cost with no complicated platform swap processes. On both Mac and Windows you just sign in with your Adobe ID then download the Cloud apps.

  • How can i transfer the entire itunes program (not the library, but the actual program itself) from one cpu to another? I have the older version that has the slide feature. I can't stand the new itunes.

HOW CAN I TRANSFER THE ITUNES PROGRAM ( NOT THE LIBRARIES,BUT THE ACTUALLY EXE PROGRAM ) FROM ONE CPU TO ANOTHER. I CAN'T
STAND THE NEW ITUNES. I WANT TO TRANSFER MY OLD ONE THAT STILL HAS THE SLIDER FEATURE. THANKS

Sounds like you've already installed iTunes 11 and are now trying to downgrade. To do so successfully you will also need access to a pre-upgrade copy of your library as set out below...
The main differences between iTunes 11 and earlier versions are the loss of coverflow and ability to have multiple windows open.
In Windows, you can restore much of the look & feel of iTunes 10.7 with these shortcuts:
ALT to temporarily display the menu bar
CTRL+B to show or hide the menu bar
CTRL+S to show or hide the sidebar
CTRL+/ to show or hide the status bar (won't hide for me on Win XP)
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour
Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may let iTunes start up more quickly)
If you don't like having different coloured background & text in the Album (Grid) view use Edit > Preferences > General and untick Use custom colours for open albums, movies, etc.
With iTunes 11.0.3 you can enable artwork in the Songs & List views from View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) making it more like the old Album List view.
If you still feel the need to roll back to iTunes 10.7 first download a copy of the 32 bit installer or 64 bit installer as appropriate, uninstall iTunes and supporting software, i.e. Apple Application Support & Apple Mobile Device Support. Reboot. Restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below, then install iTunes 10.7.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.

  • I have a new hard drive and itunes and my computer (windows XP) no longer recognise my ipod. I also had the problem with the registry keys not being present but this has now been fixed. However i can no longer link my ipod up with itunes.

When I first tried itunes with my new hard drive there was the problem with the registry keys but something also flagged up about needing a signed driver. Is this anything to do with why Itunes and my computer no longer recognises when my ipod is linked up? Whatever i try under 'devices' my ipod is never available to sync up. If anyone can help I would be most grateful.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately this has not worked. I didn't have quicktime to begin with so I don't know if that makes a difference? After following the instructions, I get the "registry keys missing" problem appear again (which I've subsequently fixed again) and then when I connected the ipod I got the following message - 'Device driver software was not successfully installed'.
I've tried windows update but this doesn't do anything as '...the service is not running'.
    Any suggestions?

  • Buying a new iPod,,how can I transfer all my songs over?

My 30gb iPod which I've had since May of 2006 sad to say may be on it's last legs. It did not make it through my morning workout today, crapped out at the 15 minute mark. I think it was fully charged, the battery indicator showed a full charge when I started my workout, but it died right around the 15 minute mark of my workout.
So if I buy a new iPod, how do I get all my songs on it. I have over 5000 songs on iTunes (they're all backed up on my external hard drive too) and I just need to know what I would have to do to use a new iPod and upload my entire iTunes library.
    Mike

    Hello blackhawks2488,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
If all your music is located in your iTunes library, all you have to do is simply plug the iPod in, register it, set it up sync however you wish, actually sync it and be on your way.
There is no limit to the number of devices you can have synced with one iTunes library or account.

  • If I buy new IPOD can I transfer music from my existing itunes library?

I fear there is something wrong with my current ipod. It will not allow me to update from my existing library.
    Question:
If I just go out and buy a brand new ipod, will I be able to plug in to my computer, and then transfer all the music that is currently in my itunes library?
    Thank you for your reply.

so long as your ipod updater software and itunes meet the minimum system requirements for the ipod, it would be fine. (attractive beast downloads precisely the same music as mauve, from the same library. back in the day, all i had to do was upgrade my ipod software first.)
    iPod: Minimum System Requirements
what's the problem with the current ipod? are you getting an error message? if so, what does it say? include error message numbers if you're getting any.

  • I have a new computer. How can I transfer my ITunes library? My old one has a virus. Can I transfer it from my IPhone?

I can't find any information on how you can transfer your ITunes library from an old computer to a new one. I have installed ITunes on my new computer but it doesn't seem to synch with my IPhone. And I don't want to erase the library that is on my IPhone.

From reading Vista forums support for SSD is one of the things Vista SP2 and Windows 7 hope (need) to improve upon. I was in a similar discussion once befoe on SSDs:

"My guess is that [Samsung and Microsoft] are maybe working on the OS recognizing an SSD with a 4K-byte sector size instead of a hard disk drive with a 512-byte sector size," Wong said.
Sun is already working with Samsung to bulk up SSD support on the ZFS (Zettabyte File System), which is included in the Solaris OS, and will also be supported in Apple's upcoming Mac OS X 10.6, codenamed Snow Leopard. Sun is adding capabilities to boost the durability and performance of SSDs on ZFS-based operating systems. For example, Sun may add defragmentation capabilities for SSDs, which organizes data in a particular order to enable quicker data access.
SSDs were not considered ideal for defragmentation because of limited read-and-write capabilities, Wong said. However, Samsung and Sun in July jointly announced an 8G-byte SSD that bumped up durability from 100,000 read-and-write cycles to 500,000. That brings defragmentation in SSDs closer to reality, which could improve its caching and provide quicker access to data. Sun plans to put SSDs into storage products later this year.
