can't get downloaded itune movies to open.any tips?

I have three computers that are practicably clones of each other and the new itunes update failed on two of them but one worrked fine. Here is fix that worked for me. This fix was suggested by another member but I cannot recall or find his post. My system is WinXP sp3 with all the latest patches.
    1. Download AirPort Utility 5.5.1 for Windows http://support.apple.com/downloads/
    2. Open task Manager and stop the mdnsresponder process. The corrupted mdnsresponder will be using 50% of your cpu.
    3. Open control panel / add remove programs. Find the bonjour app and click on it.
    4. Note the corrupted version of bonjour 2.0.0.34 by clicking on the support link.
    5. Uninstall bonjour
    6. Restart Windows.
    7. Install the AirPort Utility. This will install a good working version of mdnsresponder. Restart windows again.
    8. Upon restart you will see a new the airport icon in your task tray. You can also find mdnsresponder.exe running under process in task manger with little or no cpu usage. Your bonjour app under add remove panel will now be version 1.0.106

  • Itunes is downloaded, but will not open

Itunes and quicktime was successfully installed on my computer and while quicktime is running, itunes is not. I've tried everything; installing and uninstalling, but to no avail. I have no idea what to do anymore. I have windows xp service pack 2, an ipod nano, windows firewall....yada yada.If anyone had this problem and had it solved, please help me out.

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7,now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP,head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post. (If you've got XP, although the procedure is for Vista and 7, just read "Computer" as "My Computer", read "Uninstall a program control panel" as "Add or Remove programs control panel" and assume the system is 32-bit, and you'll be doing the right things.)

    Hi, Ken -
Since you have a new install of OSX, you may be missing Stuffit Expander, needed to expand downloads encrypted/archived in a Stuffit format. That problem confronted me with a new machine running OSX 10.6; a download and install of Stuffit Expander fixed it.
You can download Stuffit Expander from this webpage -
    http://www.stuffit.com/mac-expander-download.html
Note - be sure to get the version that matches your OSX version.

A lot of my songs, once put on the iCloud, will not download to my iPod.  They are in my iTunes library, already downloaded, but will not appear in my library on my iPod.  There is no common thread for the origin of the songs--many were ripped from CD's, others purchased in the iTunes store.  Before I started using iCloud, all music in my iTunes library was on my iPod without any issues.

    - Are you saying that they are not listed in your Purchased section?
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    - Are they listed in your Puchases history when you log into your account on your computer?
    - Are they still available now for purchase? If not then you are out of luck
If they are still available and listed in your Puchase History then contact iTunes

  • ITunes installs properly, but will not open

I have just upgraded from iTunes 6.0.1 to 6.0.2
Everything installed correctly, and I am receiving no error messages; the program simply will not open. I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, and I have exactly the same problem each time.
My music files (including ones that I purchased from Apple's music store) will open with other players, but will not open with the newly installed v6.0.2
I am running Norton Internet security, but the problem still occurs after I disable the program.
    Any assistance is appreciated.

Well, that annoying. So, I am a bit confused here. Does iTunes launch at all or sometimes? BTW, You need to Configure Norton to allow iTunes to open. Otherwise, it will continue to block it silently.
Do you see, under your Processes tab in your Windows Task Manager, both Quicktime and iTunes?

  • ITunes downloads but will not open.

I have downloaded the latest version of iTunes with QuickTime but it will not open up on my computer. I had QuickTime before, and that works fine, I can use that program normally. But my iTunes just doesn't open. When I click on it, the hourglass appears for a few seconds then nothing happens. I have tried the suggested problem solvers that are already on the apple site, but they haven't fixed my problem. I was wondering if there is anything else I could do?

I helped a friend today with his new iPod. He had not updated since I installed version 6. When the installation of QuickTime/iTunes 7 was done, I rebooted the computer. I ran into the same issue as you each time I tried to launch iTunes. The screen would flash once, the hourglass cursor would appear for a few seconds, then nothing. Then I realized I was using an old shortcut from the Windows Start menu. Oops. Once I found the newly installed iTunes application and double-clicked on it, iTunes launched and we were good to go. Created a new iTunes account, redeemed the gift card I gave him, imported some CDs and sync'd the new iPod so he was happy. I went home happy knowing that he is going to be an iTunes addict just like me.

  • The newest version of iTunes begins downloading but will not finish and install.

I have just purchased a new MacBook Pro, and the App Store lists iTunes 12.1 as an update to be downloaded and installed.  I have tried multiple times but it will not install and continues to show up as an update.  Is anyone else having this problem?  If not, what do you suggest I do to solve the problem.  All the other updated downloaded and installed with no problem.

That is not possible, as iTunes 12.1 has not been released yet.
The current version of iTunes is 12.0.1.

  • Itunes Installs Correctly, but will not Open

    Hello
I have downloaded the latest version of iTunes for Windows XP and I installed it correctly yet when I attempt to open it the hourglass appears for a second and then disappears and no iTunes. I tried to open it with the process list in front of me and saw that it indeed opens but then disappears off the list. Please help. I do not have any firewalls running, am an administrator on my computer, have tried uninstalling-reinstalling several time on different Windows accounts but nothing has worked.
    Please help me. Thank You.

I'm having the exact same problem I think. Spent about an hour on the phone with tech support, installing and uninstalling to no avail.
Basically, when I would click on the itunes icon, it would try to open.Sometimes, a white EULA screen would pop up VERY fast and close immediately....I couldn't click on anything. Other times, nothing except hourglass. Same behavior as others in task manager.
Tried opening things up in safe mode and got much further. It wouldn't open everytime...sometimes, I have to shut down in task manager a couple of times, but it would open eventually. Once I couldn't open and had to shut down, but it does eventually open.
Now here's the important part (I think): After accepting the EULA in safe mode, I get an error message that says " iTunes has detected a problem with your audio config. Audio / Video playback may not operate properly." Everytime I open it now in safe mode, get the same message. In normal mode, iTunes behaves exactly as before (.exe pops up in TM, but does nothing and closes) with no error. So I'm thinking that this "audio config problem" is causing iTunes to shutdown in normal mode.
I'm still working on figuring out how to get rid of error. I've tried disabling everything under Sound in device manager...no help. I also tried removing Windows Media PLayer's association with all files thinking one file type may have 2 default programs.
Anyone else with this problem able to confirm similar error? (use F8 during startup to get into safe mode) Let me know if you figure anything out or have ideas of what may be conflicting.

  • Installed Acrobat Pro XI on Win 7, 64 bit.  Program installed fully, but will not open or run.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times.  Downloaded reader, no help.  Adobe will not support by phone.  What do I do?

    Thanks, Sara.
I have done just that - I ran the cleaner and removed Acrobat entirely.  Did a fresh install.  Everything looked fine, was able to enter my serial number successfully, and got a successful install message.  Yet when I try to open the program, it will bring up a box briefly which then disappears and the program does not launch.  Subsequent attempts do not even bring up the box.  No program running in task manager.  This is version 11.0.07, running on Windows 7, 64 bit.  I don't know if it makes a difference, but this was obtained through TechSoup.org.

  • HELP - FRUSTRATED - iTunes 7 Downloaded but will not install

Hi....I have downloaded iTunes. But when I then run the iTunesSetup.exe to install it, I keep getting the exact same message:
"The installation of QuickTime did not complete successfully. iTunes requires QuickTime"
That's it. No error number or further explanation. I have deleted/erased all other versions of QuickTime. I have downloaded, run and installed the QuickTime 7 standalone installer from my hard drive and yet I still keep getting the same message I posted above.
This is going on 3 hours now, and I'm not happy.

let's try getting an itunes 7 installer log to the Apple Engineers for a look.
    1. Open a command prompt window. (Start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return.)
    2. Drag and drop iTunesSetup.exe onto the window so that the full pathname of the file is at the command line prompt.
    3. Type in a space, then the following line:
    /l*v C:\log.txt
    4. Hit return.
    5. The installer will create a log file:
    C:\log.txt
Find that file and send it as an attachment to this email address.
in the email to Roy, be sure to include the following information:
    - A link to the thread on Apple Discussions where the issue is being discussed
    - The username you are using in the thread
    - The version of iTunes you are using or trying to use
    - the version of Windows you are using (mention service packs)
    - A concise description of the issue you are seeing
    - The exact text of the error message you are seeing

  • Itunes downloaded but will not open

i have just downloaded itunes and when the download was complete i tried to open the software and nothing happened, i have never had a virus or anything on my computer so i am just comfused, how do i get it to open?

    hi stubbs!
let's start off with the three usual suspects with an "error-message-free" itunes launch failure:
if you don't see anything but a two-second-hourglass AND you've got Norton Internet Security 2005 on that PC
... let's start you off with the trusty Lorraine M technique:
    Lorraine M: NIS/itunes problem rectified
(other symptoms people sometimes see with the NIS 2005 one include looooong slooooow PC shutdown times, a ccApp.exe end program dialog box during the shutdowns, and a end program dialog box where the name of the program is apparently a long string of non-printing or random Asian characters ...)
if you don't see anything but a two-second-hourglass but you DON'T have NIS 2005 on that PC
... quickly check to see if you've got an unstable itunes configuration file:
iTunes for Windows doesn't open after upgrading
if you see a brief flash of the itunes license screen when you try to launch itunes AND you see similar behavior when you try to open your QuickTime
... your PC is probably infested by Qoologic adware. the free trial version of the EWIDO malware removal software has been cleaning that up for most folks:
    http://www.ewido.net/en/
if no joy with any of those possibilities, we'll try checking on some of the rarer possibilities. (actually the configuration file thing is pretty rare too, but we've got a troubleshooting document on it so i throw it out there anyway early on in proceedings.)
if, on the other hand, you're getting an error message when you try to launch itunes, post back to let us know what it says. the treatments for those are generally different from the treatments for the error-message-free itunes launch failures.
    love, b

  • TS3274 app icon for App Store has 6 awaiting downloads, but will not show up when selected.

Ap store icon shows 6 updates waiting to down load but when selected does not download page stays blank.

    Try this workaround
    App Store>Purchased>Select "All"
Note: Look out for apps that have the word "Update"

  • Purchased photoshop elements 11, worked after downloading but will not open now.

I purchased photoshop elements 11and it worked after the intial download, however when I click on the icon now nothing happens.

    What OS you are on?
If it is Windows then please ensure there is no PhotoshopElements process running in the background.
Launch Task Manager > Processes tab and stop if there is any process running for Photoshop Elements.
    Restart the application again.
