My PC itunes does not add mp4 files in the library.

My PC itunes does not add mp4 files in the library. why?

YEs, files downloaded before Monday are fine, coul add them ti library.
I'Ve now changed the FTP client, from Transmit to Cyberduck, and can now add new files to the library. All files transfered via Transmit however remain unacceptable to iTunes. It is a pity, as Transmit is much faster and user-friendly.
HAve written to Transmit for their input.

  • ITunes won't add large files to the library

I use software to convert my personal DVDs into Apple TV format via H.264 decoder for 720p resolution. The resulting files are typically larger than 3GB for a 2 hour movie. Now iTunes won't add them to my library so I can't sync them or stream them to my Apple TV.
Any advice? Is there a setting in iTunes that I overlooked?
I have tried the mpg4 conversion setting for 480 resolution and those files will load into iTunes and stream to Apple TV, but they are grainy and a horrible quality. So for those saying I don't need to use the H.264, I am picky and want a high quality resolution.
Thanks for any advice and help.

It is possible that there is something else wrong with my files. Several mp4 files worked fine prior to getting a new iMac and transferring the files over (using ext HDDs, not the migration wizard). Quicktime won't even open the files in question. It states that they are not movie files.
Sounds odd, they may be corrupted.
Try enusring the file extensions are either .mp4 or .m4v (or .mov perhaps).
3GB+ for a file intended for AppleTv 2 hours long sounds excessive and may exceed AppleTv playback specs but it shouldn'tbother quicktime. If the files don't open in QT they may well be corupted.

  • ITUNES will NOT add mpeg4 files to library!!!!

So I've tried many video converters on many settings...the files are fine. They play fine in quicktime.
I cannot get the newly made video files into Itunes. .mp4 and .mov files will not add to the library. When i try, absolutely nothing happens
Itunes WILL add .WMA Files to the library and actually play them. These files will not convert to ACC format so i can play them on my ipod however.
all files meet the video file requirements that apple claims will work. (320x240, under 768kbps, etc.)

  • ITunes will not import mp4-files.

For some reason iTune will not import mp4-files into iTunes. The files only contain audio, no video. I know that mp4 is a format that combines the two.
The files were generated in an earlier version of iTunes, like in 2006 or something. They were imported from CD's. I can locate them just fine on my computer and they play without problem in Windows Media Player.
The problem is that when I try to import them the way that iTunes want me to import files its like they don't exist. ITunes locates the folders and sub-folders, but its like there's no content in the folders...
I've tried changing my import settings but nothing seems to help...
Have any of you encountered a similar problem, could you fix it and how?
I've contacted Apple-support but they were unable (incompetent) to assist me...
To me it seems like the only option left is to convert all the files, like 2 GB, from mp4 to mp3.
Thankful for any help I could get solving this ***** of an issue...

iTunes can handle just about any file format that works with QuickTime and will play any file purchased or downloaded from the iTunes Store. If you've got video files that end with a .mov, .m4v, or .mp4 file extension, you can import them to iTunes with ease. However, the video especially the MP4 video must meet the following specifications: it must be encoded as 540 kbit/s (minimum) MPEG-4 video (H.264) with an approximately 128 kbit/s AAC audio track or encoded as 1.5 Mbit/s (minimum) MPEG-4 video (H.264) with a minimum 128 kbit/s AAC audio track. If not, you will fail to import MP4 to iTunes.
Even if your MP4 files meet the above specifications and are added to iTunes successfully, it may still fail to sync to iOS devices. For iPhones, iPads, and video-capable iPods play videos in more specific video formats and codecs.

  • Itunes does not add some videos

itunes does not add some videos you create, are videos of my nephews and does not add, also new films and not to add that I can do .....

this should help a lot. i've had the same problem w/ my ipod but i ended up fixing the problem and having about 5 videos on my ipod (until it was stolen). nevertheless, download a program called Videora Ipod Converter. once you're done installing it, click on Setup on the tabs to your left and then click Profiles. After that, create a profile with the following settings.
Existing Quality Profiles: (create new profile i.e. ipod)
    Profile Name: (same as above)
    Mode: MPEG-4 > CBR Bitrate: 768kbps
    Resolution: 320x240 Framerate: 29.97fps
    Passes: One
    -audio settings-
bitrate: 128kbps Channels: stereo Sample rate: input
after that, you should be fine. make sure you use the one-click transcode because you wont be able to complete fully with the transcode option (i forgot why because its been such a long time since i had my ipod)

  • Lightroom 3 does NOT support raw files for the  Canon Sureshot S95

Have just bought the new Canon Sureshot S95
after contacting Adobe support I am told Lightroom 3 does NOT support raw files for the
    Canon Sureshot S95.
Come on Adobe.....please provide an update asap.

    (1) Well Boss I did what you said and used Canon DPP to convert to TIFFs. Choices are 8-bit TIFF or 16-bit TIFF - I chose 16-bit because part (90% part) of the reason for wanting to work in RAW is to keep the bit depth of teh original. On my EOS 40D it is supposedly 14 bits, which gives great scope to play with the levels & curves without seeing poster effects. If I choose 16 bit TIFF then each S95 image becomes a 70MB file, parallel to my JPEG and RAW.  Hardly a satisfactory solution.
(I realise, however, that I don't actually know the bit depth of the S95 RAW file - anybody? ).
    (2) SUGGESTION-  even if you are adding S95 support to the next update (which I dearly hope), be kinder to those with new cameras in general and allow LR to import JPEGs if it cannot import the RAWs (overriding if necessary the 'ignore JPEG' preference setting).  I am sure users with that preference would still prefer a JPEG than no picture at all!
Since I discovered this compatibility problem, I switched the camera to record RAW+JPEG*. To my great irritation LR3 ignores the JPEGs even though it cannot load the RAWs.  So if I want to import from one supported camera (EOS40D) and one unsupported camera (S95) I have to keep going into preferences to switch on and off the 'ignore JPEG' function.

    *  (this seems to be a setting that needs doing in the various different modes of the camera, by the way).

  • ITunes will not add my files

I'm having trouble adding files other than music to iTunes. If I add a file using file> add file to library, iTunes will not add the file, no matter what i do.

What kinds of files are you trying to add? iTunes will only add certain kinds of files. For example, I realized after about an hour of trying to drag and drop them into my library, that iTunes hates .wmv files, and I had to convert them.

  • I have a PC.  I would like to sync my iPad2 via itunes.  My computer recognizes my iPad but itunes does not.  I have deleted the itunes program, shut down my computer and restarted and then reinstalled itunes.  I still have the same problem.  Suggestions?

I have a PC.  I would like to sync my iPad2 via itunes.  My computer recognizes my ipad but itunes does not.  I have uninstalled itunes, shut down the computer and restarted plus reinstalled itunes.  I visited the Apple store there is no problem with the iPad or the cord. I still have the same problem and am unable to sync when I plug in the iPad via the USB cord.  Does anyone have further suggestions?

Try going into the control panel, add/remove programs. Uninstall iTUnes, Apple mobile device service, apple application support. Then redownload and reinstall iTunes and see if it'll work
If the computer sees your iPad you know the cable and connection is good, so the issue has to be software.

  • TS2529 itunes does not let me restore from the last backup of my recently upgraded to 5.1 iphone

I recently updated from 4.2.1 to 5.1 and now itunes does not show me the "restore from the backup of..." option. It doesn't even let me restore from any backup. I found the backup in the library and made a backup of it just in case. How can I restore from this backup if Itunes doesn't give me the option?
    Please help!

    Welcome to the discussions,
go to iTunes/Settings and see if "Apps" is selected in General/Show:
If yes, your App folder should be listed under "library" in the left window in iTunes again.
There is no extra App folder listed when you click on your device in the device list.

  • ITunes does not import certain files

    Hi everyone,
I had to reinstall my WinXP system and therefore also reinstalled iTunes (v9.0.3.15). Now, when I imported my whole MP3 directory, iTunes did not import some albums without displaying any error message. When I realized that some albums are missing, I tried to import them using drag&drop from the Windows Explorer, using the "File-Import file", "File-Import directory" (or whatever these menu items are called in english...), but nothing works! iTunes simply does... NOTHING. No error, no file imported, no action at all.
The files are fairly typical MP3 files: 192 kbps, 44kHz, ID3v1, ID3v2 both present, no DRM... And the most weird fact is: on my old WinXP system (same machine, but slightly older iTunes version) iTunes did import the files without problems!
I have no clue why iTunes won't import them. Does anybody else have an idea?
    Many thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    gehho.

    Hi ed2345,
thanks a lot for proposing the MP3 Validator! This fixed my problem. For others having a similar problem: I used this software: http://www.gromkov.com/faq/repair/mp3_validator.html
However, I must say that I am really annoyed about iTunes and Apple. I mean, what kind of design is it when you say: "We do not accept slightly invalid files, although every other player accepts them. And most important: We do not display an error message to the user, so that he/she has to find the problem him/herself! Ha!" This is really extremely bad user experience, and I always thought Apple was known for their innovative path, especially regarding user experience. Pfff...
There are sooo many other things that annoy me; I think I will not buy any Apply product anymore. In my eyes, they have even overtaken Microsoft in being the most user-unfriendly company on the market:
    1) You HAVE to use iTunes to copy files on your iPod instead of just using the iPod as a USB drive. What is this for??? It's just to promote their stupid iTunes which again introduces new problems.
    2) iTunes obviously does not accept ID3v1 tags. It just displays all my MP3s which only have v1 tags as "Unknown". Come on, every other MP3 software supports ID3v1, why does not iTunes???
    3) The import process in iTunes is such a hassle. Instead of being able to observe a directory for new files, you have to add every single new album manually. Of course, only after you validated it... Moreover, you cannot add multiple directories at once using the menu options - you have to do it with drag&drop; and it took me some time to try that.
    4) EDIT: Another point just came to my mind: When importing a whole directory, iTunes is stupid enough to add all files once again, instead of just adding the new files. Therefore, you really have to know which album is missing in iTunes because otherwise you will have lots of files twice or three times or hundred times.
OK, that's enough for now. I am just really pi**ed off because I was playing around with those "invalid" files for about 5 hours. Might also be that it's me who's the stupid one - if so, please tell me. But from a company like Apple, I expect a software which is easily handled even by absolute newbies, and I would not call me a newbie...
Anyway, have a nice day everyone, and happy validating!
Thanks again to ed2345! The comments above were not meant for you! It just came out of my fingers... Btw: As you asked my to pick my interpretation... I would pick "INCOMPETENT" - completely!

  • ITunes does not import WMA files

I have iTunes 9 for Mac and it is not importing the sound files I have in WMA. Is there any setting I should activate so the conversion is automatically?
I would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks!

iTunes for Mac will not add and automatically convert WMA files, that function is only available with iTunes for Windows. On the Mac you need to convert the files prior to importing them, you could have a look at something like EasyWMA or Switch audio converter. These will let you convert the files to an iTunes compatible format:

  • ITunes does not see music files in folders in external drive after crash

I put over 3000 music files on an external drive.  It was a laborious project to organize them so iTunes would recognize them and organize them.
Unhappily, my laptop crashed this morning and I had to restore the whole hard drive to a backup of 3 weeks ago.   Unfortunately this was before I did all this work.
Now iTunes only "sees" 1400 of the songs, yet when I examine the files usinig Windows explorer, they are all there.
How can I get iTunes to again "see" all the music files.
they are organized in a directory called iTunes, and all the subdirectories containing the mp3's are artist's names.
    Many thanks!

Check the security permissions on the drive. See Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows.
Enable the menu bar if needed with CTRL+B.
Under Edit > Preferences > Advanced check that the media folder is set as you wish it to be, and also that the options for Keep... & Copy... are what you want. Uncheck copy if your media folder is elsewhere and you don't want to create copies when importing.
Use File > Add Folder to Library and select the folder that has you missing content. It should be added to the library.

  • ITunes does not add album art though being added manually..

    Hello people..
i have this problem, i just bought an iPod and used the iTunes 9 for the library and all. got some of the artwork from the store and some i downloaded manually and tried adding them..
now the thing is, it saved some of the artwork that i added manually and then it stopped doing that.. i tried restarting and closing iTunes and then opening it again, but it didn't work.. i don't know why!
    any help please?

Would the problem album have all tracks by the same artist? If there are guest artists, your phone is not set up to Use Album Artists, and you're selecting the album via the Artist menu that might explain the issue.
For general tips see Grouping tracks into albums.
It may help to look at a concrete example with details of which tracks do and don't make it to the iPhone.
