My PC recently crashed and I got my new Mac today.
I backed up my PC files on an external hard rive. How do I get my new mac to recognize this they are backed up in zip files? Some of my word and excel files are read only?
Turn on your new Mac and let it get itself setup, after it has done this and installed all the Software Updates then begin using:

You will need to install either MS Office for Mac on the new machine or there are free alternatives too. For your read only files they may be a problem. One way you can switch the permissions on a file is locating it then clicking Command I (I as Ivan) and the note the permissions. You may be able to change them there. Also if your external HD is formatted to NTFS (again use Command I to check) OS X can read to it however it will not write to it. You will need to install NTFS-3G which you can find at NTFS-3G Download.

Be aware, you go that route & every time you try to update or restore, it will error out, leaving your phone unusable. Not to mention, you void all warranty/support.
Sell it & use the proceeds towards an officially unlocked iPhone bought directly from Apple.

If you mean your content then have you copied it onto your new computer from your backup and added it to its iTunes via File > Add To Library ? If you haven't got a backup then if you have any of your purchases on your iPod then you should be able to copy them to your new computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases, or you might be able to re-download some/all of your previous purchases (what content types you can re-download depend upon which country that you are in and whether it's still in the store) : re-downloading.

Got a new mac today, I created my iCloud account (and therfore my Apple ID?) I tried to set up my iTunes and download updates, and it says i need to review my account, then I had to edit my Apple ID details, but said my email address was invalid???
From the information that you have provided, it sounds like your Apple ID has been disabled. You can read this to see how you can troubleshoot that issue.

You can try signing out of your ID on the iPad and sign in with his ID and see if that works.
Settings>iTunes and App Stores>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Then sign in with your husband's newly created ID. -
My hard drive recently crashed and I had to have a new one installed, at the same time I upgraded to Yosemite since then I have not been able to get on my banks website to do any online banking. I just get a blank page after I log onto the bank. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
Using Safari? Safari/Preferences/Advanced - enable the Develop menu, then go there and Empty Caches. Quit/reopen Safari and test. Then try Safari/History/Show History and delete all history items. Quit/reopen Safari and test. You can also try try Safari/Clear History and Web Site Data. The down side is it clears all cookies.Doing this may cause some sites to no longer recognize your computer as one that has visited the web site.
Try another browser as a test.

They will not magically appear on another computer.
Your music will only be where you put it.
Copy it from the old computer or your backup copy of the old computer.
You buy one and only one download. It is your responsibility to move/copy/backup your music.

It says that if I use the new laptop that I will lose everything. I have been using the new one for downloads, sync's and purchases for a while now but I forgot when I first got the phone it was the other laptop that crashed. Can someone please help me on this?
Thank YouIf things went correctly your phone should look the same. But now you are able to sync with your new computer without losing your data. If you succesfully synced your phone with iTunes and still have all your apps and other data intact then you're all set. (If you didn't get a merge or replace prompt for calendars or contacts you may not have chosen to sync these by selecting to do so on the Info tab of your sync settings.)
Updating is another thing; it does erase the phone but restores from backup later. Read "The Update Process" here: https://sites.google.com/site/appleclubfhs/support/advice-and-articles/updating- ios so that you understand what to expect before updating your phone. Also, as a precaution, before updating your phone you should always import all your photos to your computer and back up your contacts. If you don't have any other way to back up your contacts use the app My Contacts Backup. -

Well, let's hope that nothing was jiggled out of place when you were installing the new hard drive. Your optical drive may just be out of alignment or the disc you have is "dirty." Get a lint-free cloth and some rubbing alcohol, then clean the disc as thoroughly as you can starting from the center and working outward in a concentric circlular motion. See if that helps. In particular clean the inner portion well.
If this does not help, then you have a problem. You have opened the computer yourself. That action voids all support from Apple. If you take the computer in for service the store may refuse to service the computer. This is not related to your now expired warranty. -
I get the subscription through school and it doesn't expire until October, but I have projects that I need to get done. I can't download any programs that I already have and it's really frustrating.

My laptop recently crashed and is unsalvageable with my itunes library on it. My ipod still has all of my music still on it.
Is there a way that I can put the songs on my ipod onto itunes on my new computer without loosing them or having to buy them all over again?Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your ipod. Only if you back up your iPod manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your iPod to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your ipod without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your iPod for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the ipod for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.

No Playlists, or Ratings, Last Played, & Play Count attributes will be transferred from the iPod to iTunes using this method.
If you have problems with seeing the iPod within 'My Computer', try again switching your update method to 'manual', detach the iPod, then reconnect the iPod to the PC.
After recovering your Library, strongly consider developing a thorough and frequent backup strategy for just this type of situation (and many other potential disasters).
You need at least two full sets of your music, not including what is on the iPod:
-- One full set on the PC within iTunes (on internal HD or ExHD)
-- One full set on an separate external backup medium (CD/DVD/ExHD/other)
-- One (full or partial) set on the iPod
Music files on just the iPod and only one other medium is not considered having any backup.
If you cannot store your complete music files on the computer’s internal HD, then create and maintain at least two external sets (any multiple combinations of ExHDs, DVDs, CDs).
Backup both the music files and the Library database file (iTunes Library.itl). What are the iTunes Library files?

What actions, if any, did you take to transfer your iTunes Library from your old computer to your new one? Unless you do so, the only songs that will automatically be available to you are your previous iTunes Store purchases - and even then this is dependent on both where you are (not all regional versions of the Store provide this facility) and whether the songs you've purchased are still available from the Store.
As leofanti points out, iTunes Match is not a backup service for your library.
