My pc says iTunes is incompatible  with Windows 7

I recently bought a new computer running Windows 7 and now it says iTunes is not compatible. My old pc ran the same OS, but it worked fine, what's the deal? I've tried uninstalling, deleting Bonjour, cleaning out the registry using my System Mechanic software as well as CClean. Can someone help?

Denisee,
Thanks for the thought, but I have checked and rechecked, as well as downloaded, uninstalled and redownloaded multiple times the 64-bit version. I was able to install 10.2 and get iTunes to run, however, I can't copy any TV shows, movies and music videos I have bought (in the past, or after the 10.2 installation) to my iPad or iPhone. It will let me transfer my music and my movies that I imported from other sources. I have made sure my pc is authorized and i have only 1 iTu\nes account, so I should be able to transfer items.

  • ITunes 12 incompatible with Windows Vista Data Execution Prevention

I just did a clean install of iTunes 12.0.1 after removing 11.4 and other components as described in Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates. I'm running Vista Home Premium 32-bit SP2 with 3 GB RAM. Soon after closing the iTunes GUI, I get a Data Execution Prevention notification:
I have already tested with every DEP setting except AlwaysOff, which would globally disable an important Windows security feature and is therefore not to be recommended. The problem is apparently a Buffer Overflow Exception. Here are the details from one instance:

This is actually not a new problem. As an experienced user of 32-bit Vista, I would have to say that the last compatible iTunes version was 11.1.5. See also Windows Vista problem reports after latest Itunes 11.2 update.

I have been getting a "Vista Data Execution Prevention" error message whenever I closed iTunes for months now, and after reading through a few forums, I have found a solution that works.  Long story short:
    1) Start iTunes
    2) Open the Windows Task Manager
    3) Go to the "Proccess" Tab
    4) Find "AppleMobileDeviceHelper.exe *32" and right click on it.
    5) Select "Properties" from the drop down menu
    6) Go to the "Compatibility" Tab
    7) Check the Box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
    8) If "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" is not in the field below, click on the down arrow and select said option.
    9) Click on "OK" to close the window.
    10) Close the iTunes application
    11) Reopen the iTunes application
    12) Close the iTunes application again.
At this point you should not see anymore "Vista Data Execution Prevention" error messages when you close iTunes!
P.S.   If you want to go back and de-select running "AppleMobileDeviceHelper.exe *32" in Windows XP Compatibility mode, you can.  Though this part is totally optional.  The next time you close iTunes, you will get one last "Vista Data Execution Prevention" error message, but don't worry, it will be the last one.  Try opening iTunes again and then closing it, and TaDa, no more error messages.  I don't know why running AppleMobileDeviceHelper.exe *32 in compatibility mode JUST ONCE solves the problem, but it worked for me.

Welcome tocguy. If I may ask you a question: How much memory does your Vista x64 PC have? I have 3 GB, which is the maximum that 32-bit Vista can recognize, but I seem to recall that 64-bit Vista can utilize much more than that, and wonder if that might be why 64-bit users are scarce in the 11.2 thread.
I have now also done a truly clean reinstall, deleting Apple folders in ProgramData and each user account's AppData folder, and even the iTunes folders in each user's Music folder. Of course I moved my iTunes Media folder to a safe location first, and one iTunes Library backup file suitable for version 11.1.5. I also cleaned the registry. The most I can say is that I sometimes don't get a BEX upon closing iTunes now, but usually I do. I deselected one default setting during installation, "Use iTunes as the default player for audio files." (If an audio file can be opened by Media Player 11, why would I want to open it in a program that gives me a BEX nearly every time I use it? Too bad my AAC files purchased at iTunes Store can't be opened by WMP, but I certainly won't be buying any more of those now.) My advice to other Vista users: Don't waste your time reinstalling, it won't solve the DEP problem.
Ran the Program Compatibility Wizard to run iTunes in XP SP2 compatibility mode, but abandoned that idea after the first BEX.
Thought I was onto something when I tried the registry fix at http://blogs.technet.com/b/askperf/archive/2008/06/17/to-dep-or-not-to-dep.aspx. Johnny DEP thought he was so slick when he saw iTunes listed as an exception in his DEP tab, but there was one minor problem (yes I did reboot):
Oh well, it's probably a bad idea to allow buffer overruns anyway. The fact that this didn't work causes me to think that Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit or Application Compatibility Toolkit would also be a waste of time. Vista users who wish to avoid BEX errors can either downgrade their iTunes (free) or upgrade their Windows (not free).

    Hi tcw iphone malaysia,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you are trying to back up your iPhone, but iTunes for Windows is not detecting the device reliably, I recommend starting with the steps in this article:
iOS: If you can't back up or restore from a backup in iTunes
These steps can help resolve many error messages that appear when connecting your iPhone to a PC.

  • Is iTunes now incompatible with Windows 8?

I'm on Windows 8 and have the latest version of iTunes. I noticed an entire folder was missing from my iTunes Music Library. I tried the File/Add Folder and it didn't do a thing. I went to the folder on the hard drive and tried dragging and dropping to the iTunes Library. Nothing. Finally, I moved the folder to the iTunes folder on the hard drive. Still nothing! Am I to be without all this music now? I don't dare sync my iPod because it will then lose all that music.

Problem solved. The music was from Amazon MP3 store and I had to re-download it from the Amazon Cloud Player to my hard drive. It was there, but not even the Amazon Cloud Player software would play it from my PC, though it would from the Cloud. So after the re-download, I was able to add it to my iTunes Library.

  • Itunes incompatible with Windows 7?

I have windows 7 and am running 64 bit
itunes USED to work ok before there were a few glitches but it was ok
now since I have downloaded the latest itunes (yes I downloaded the 64 bit version) it has not been working at all. I would open it and it would not pop up. So i went to task manager and it says itunes*32.exe. After about an hour or so itunes would open but it would just be frozen.
I have completely uninstalled it and all components of apple 6 times now.. I have tried to download the lastest itunes once again and an error msg would show up
*The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows*
*you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether*
*you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then*
    *contact the software publisher.*
I have no idea what this means bcoz i downloaded the 64 bit version!!!
so i tried to download an older version i tried 9.2 which did not install..
and then tried 8.2 which installed but does not work!!!
so when i try to run 8.2 itunes NOTHING happens when i click task manager there it is in processes again as itunes*32.exe
I have never had any other version of windows on this laptop but i have tried to change the compatibility to other versions.. did not work ofcourse..
then tried troubleshoot and it just says itunes is incompatible..
i really dont understand how a month ago itunes was working and now its not
yes i have sweeped my computer for viruses and downloaded all the updates windows has suggested..
I dont know what else to do im no computer whiz
i have seen a fair few people with similar issues
    any suggestions???

The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows
you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether
you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then
    contact the software publisher.
    Try downloading an installer again:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Is the name of the file you're downloading iTunesSetup.exe or iTunes64Setup.exe ? (The latter name is what the 64-bit installer file should be called.)
If you've been getting an iTunesSetup.exe, then your web browser hasn't been autodetecting your operating system correctly. So to get a 64-bit installer, on the left of the downloads page in the *Windows Software* text (you may need to scroll down to see that) click on the *64-bit installer* link. That'll take you through to a downloads page for the iTunes64Setup.exe.
Once you've got the latest 64 bit version installed again, we start checking on a few of the more common causes of error-message-free iTunes launch failures.
Some questions in the interest of narrowing in on possible culprits with an error-message-free iTunes launch failure.
    (1) Does your QuickTime Player launch, or do you get an error message of some kind when you try to launch that?
    (2) If your QuickTime seems to be launching fine, try (by way of experiment) disabling the BonJour Service.
In your Start Menu, right-click Computer and select "Manage".
    Expand "Services & Applications".
Open "Services". (Maximise the window to better see what's going on.)
Right-click the BonJour Service and select "Properties". In the "General" tab, set Start-up type to "Disabled".
Restart the PC, and try launching iTunes again. Does it launch this time?
If iTunes launches with the BonJour Service disabled, by any chance do you have a recent version of IOBit's Advanced SystemCare utility currently installed on the PC? If so, try uninstalling and reinstalling Advanced SystemCare. Can you launch iTunes without having to disable the BonJour Service now?

  • Hello. I have an ipod classic generation 4 and I want to add some more music to it however my computer and itunes do not recognice it when I try to connect it. Is it incompatible with windows 7 or itunes?

Hello. I have an ipod classic generation 4 and I want to add some more music to it however my computer and itunes do not recognise the device when I try to connect it. Is it incompatible with windows 7 or current version of itunes?

It should still be compatible.  Have you tried plugging it into a different USB port using a different cable to see if that helps?  Perhaps, try it another computer as well to see if it's recognized there.
Otherwise, start by checking to see if it's even recognized in Device Manager.  See this article for details.

  • 10.5.0.142 update incompatible with windows 7

I unfortunately updated my desktop (windows 7 32 bit) and laptop (windows 7 64 bit) to itunes 10.5.0.142. Update seems incompatible with windows 7. It has slowed both computers to a crawl, even when itunes not running. Itunes functions do not work or process at a dead crawl. Cannot access the store. Cannot sync iphone. Tried reinstalling previous itunes version, but previous version can't access itunes library, giving error message: "cannot access itunes library that was created by newer version of itunes." Have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes multiple times. Have turned off all other processes to look for incompatibility, but issues remain. I am NOT PLEASED!.

I had the same problem and i downloaded microsoft fixit software and it did fix the issue. Here is the link for that guyshttp://support.microsoft.com/fixit/  When your on this page, dont change the first option n 2nd option be Connect to the internet or networks and for 3rd option choose  Automatically diagnose and fix common security setting on Windows. and run the software and enjoy itunes store.........

  • Witch laptops are compatible/incompatible with windows XP/VISTA

Hi so i am planning on buying Apple MacBook or maybe PRO
i have a list of laptops that are served in our area:
    Apple MacBook Pro MA895
    Apple MacBook Pro MA610
    Apple MacBook Pro MA611
    Apple MacBook Pro MA897
    Apple MacBook MB062
    Apple MacBook MB063
and i need to know wich one of those are compatible or incompatible with Windows XP? please make a quick response
In advance thank you for your time

All of the "MacBook" laptops are compatible with XP/Vista.
One thing to note is that BootCamp is currently in the beta version (at least until when OS X Leopard comes out), so you may have some minor problems installing and running windows, but they should be fine.
Another thing to note is since Vista craves a lot of CPU, RAM, HD and graphics, I would suggest you going to a MacBook Pro. I have heard that Vista does not run smoothly on computers with less than 2 GB RAM, nor does all of its features render well if you don't have a 128 MB graphics card. Increasing the MacBook's RAM to 2 GB may also significantly increase the performance.
Either way, the option is yours. All of them should work out fine, with perhaps a couple of firmware updates

  • Will itunes 11 work with windows xp, I have ended up with this neqw version and it doesn't work , I can look at my library ,but not play and since synching my ipod it is now empty. Apple support is useless, they treat me like I'm on a Mac not a PC .

Apple support can't seem to get it's head around the fact I'm on a PC keeps asking for an apple serial number, Help!!!

  • I am running Mac OS X 10.5.8 and I cannot download Firefox 4 because it says it is incompatible with my operating system, although supposedly it is compatible with OS X 10.5

I would like to download Firefox 4. I get an error message during download saying it is incompatible with my operating system and that it needs OS X 10.5 or 10.6 but I AM using 10.5.8, so what might be the problem?

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox
If you prefer, you can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

  • Adobe Photoshop Incompatible with Windows 7 ?

I typically do not have problems installing Microsoft products, Corel products, HP products, AV software, dozens of other companies products on my Windows 7 Home Premium computer. I have never had problems installing Adobe products on ME, XP, Vista. However, every recent Adobe product I have purchased have failed to install on Windows 7 Home Premium and it typically takes support several hours to fix, if it can be fixed at all. It involves creating new accounts, disabling services, disabling the UAC, doing partial restarts (I did not even know those existed) and normal restarts, etc (I do have administrative rights on my account(s)).
Today I was working with customer support (taking control of my desktop). We did not succeed to install Adobe Photoshop Elements 9.
During the installation a windows dialog box was displayed which stated that the Adobe installation .exe file was incompatible with Windows UAC.
There is clearly something wrong with the Adobe installer because Adobe products are the only products that cannot be installed.
Why is it so difficult tp install Adobe products on a Windows 7 system?
Does anyone know what is going on?
Is the Adobe installer really incompatible with Windows 7 as the Windows dialog box stated?
    Thomas

Thank you for your help all three of you,
    I finally succeeded to install.
I was using the downloaded version (not the DVD), I should have mentioned that. I did two things. I turned off the UAC (as suggested) and I moved the installation files from my user account folder where they were placed by default (I initially just accepted the default). The user account was protected despite my administrative rights, which is why install using setup.exe in the user account location failed. I have a feeling that I would not have had to turn off the UAC or move the files out of the user account folder if I had run as administrator. I'll remember that next time. It is funny customer support did not see this.
    Anyway, now it is installed

I am running a Mac 10.5.8 and your software says it should be compatible with 10.5, yet it says it is incompatible with my operating system. Why?

Thanks! I agree with you completely. I love my computer, it does everything I need it to. I have no reason to upgrade to a whole new computer just because it has new bells and whistles, or is marginally faster than what I have. I'm not using it for gaming, and I don't mind waiting an extra second or 2 for internet pages to load.Firefox has been a wonderful program. it would be shame if they force us to switch to something that is not as good.

  • PPro 1.5 incompatible with Windows 7

I just upgraded laptops and have been eager to continue editing with Premiere Pro 1.5.  However, the program will not upload and gets stuck during the initialization process at GPUPagecurl.aex.  Is version 1.5 incompatible with Windows 7 and if so, is there a fix/patch?
Laptop specs:  i7 chip  8G Ram  dual quad processor @1.6 Ghz  1.6 Ghz and 64bit OS

Personal aside - I feel that the min. requirements are awfully low. They are basically enough to install the program, and launch it. Trying to edit anything with a min. system will be horribly painful, if even possible.
It is good that you read of the min. system requirements. I would not attempt to go with something below those.
Now, with about Photoshop CS, Adobe finally issued a min. video card statement for PS. It was 128MB VRAM min. I still ran PS CS for a few years on a Matrox G-450 64MB video card, without issues. Now, this is VASTLY different than CPU, RAM or HDD setup.
Good luck, and thanks for reporting, even if it was not good news. That will very likely help others with the same question.
