If you have a Logitech webcam or Lexmark scanner you need to either delete or update the drivers for the device.

  • ITunes shuts down when I plug in my iPod

I've used my iPod without a problem since Christmas. For the past week, when I plug in my iPod, iTunes shuts down due to an unnamed error.
I have reinstalled all my USB drivers, removed all of my Apple software twice and reinstalled it twice (once with the guidance of an Apple tech via phone). The Apple tech guy sent me to the Apple store to replace my iPod, which I did. But none of that has fixed the problem.
So now, I'm left with an empty iPod that can't sync with my library because iTunes keeps shutting down when I plug in the iPod. The people at the Apple store said they couldn't help me further because I have a PC. The people at Microsoft won't take any responsibility because iTunes is an Apple product. So, I'm left with a $200 iPod that is suddenly for some unexplained reason, shutting down iTunes. So now, both the iPod and iTunes are worthless.
Does anybody know how to fix this problem? I'm a singer and depend upon my iPod for rehearsal, so I need it fixed ASAP. Any help would be much appreciated.

Sorry I wasn't very clear the first time. Changing the Drive Letter is done through Disk Management in Windows. I suggested you open the itunes preferences in hopes that you would then be able to connect your ipod without it crashing.
    To change the drive letter:
Since we know this trick works
First open itunes, then select Edit-Preferences and leave this open.
    Then, follow the steps [here|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1493]
I use Q, R and T for my ipods so the computer doesn't confuse it with other removable devices.

  • Shuts down when not plugged in

My new (got it in July) MacBook shuts down when it's not plugged in. I usually turn it on and it will last around 2-3 minutes before shutting off completely, then if I try to turn it on it will make the turning on sound and immediately shut down. If I plug it in it will stay on. I looked at downloading OS X 10.4.8 in order to download the suggested firmwire to help with this issue, but will that cause me to lose all of my photos and everything else stored on my computer? Could there be any other solution to my malfunction?
    Thanks for your help!!

    Hi -
When it's plugged in ...does your battery show a charge? Also, if you press the little button on your battery (on the bottom of the macbook) a series of green led's should tell you if you have a charge. just asking this because your macbook may not stay on if your battery is not charging/dead.
Yes, you should also update you system and firmware as well.

  • PC shuts down when I plug the iPod USB cable in :(

    Hi,
I have just bought an iPod Nano 8GB. Downloaded the latest version of iTunes and installed. Then as soon as plugged the USB cable into the PC it shut down instantly. I had to wait a good 5 minutes when before it would boot back up again. I have tried the front and rear USB port... but to no avail
I running Windows Vista and my PC spec is as follows:
AMD Athlon X2 4600 Dual Core
    2GB Corsiar RAM
    256MB GeForce 7600GS
    320GB SATA II HDD
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum with Nvidia nForce 3 Ultra Chipset (motherboard)
The USB ports are all 2.0 compatible.
    My PSU is 400W.
I have 3 USB devices plugged in the rear and nothing in the front. Devices connected are:
    Keyboard
    Printer
    Scanner
I am sort of guessing the iPod USB cable is causing a surge of some sort, but I might be wrong.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem might be... and to fix it please?
    Many thanks,
    Gazza.

Have you tried to use a different USB port on the PC?
Does the same thing happen when you plug in a different USB device?
Try a restart of the PRE and try again. Go to device info, reset options and select restart. Try again and see if you get the same error.
When you get the Blue Screen Of Death in Windows, it ususally means that Windows has a problem and needs to be reinstalled.
You could try to re-insall the usb drivers for your PC and see if that may resolve the BSOD error. You may need to contact the PC manufacturer for assistance in re-installing the USB drivers.

  • My PC Shuts Down When I Plug In My New IPod Nano 3rd Gen.

The title of this post pretty much says it all. Got me my new iPod Nano 3rd gen. yesterday. Brought it home, booted up the puter, loaded iTunes and plugged that sucker in. Well first iTunes kindly instructed me that I would have to download it's newest software, which I did.
Then soon afterwards when I thought i was set, I plugged in my new 3rd gen iPod Nano to the pc and as soon as I did that my pc shut down completely, and restarted. Shut down is putting it mildly, I mean it just went 'kablink" and then was restarting.
I tried uninstalling iTunes, cleaning my temp folder, my internet cache, then reinstalling iTunes anew, still nada. All to no avail, people, because each and everytime I plug in my new iPod Nano, no sooner than i do this my pc summarily goes "kablink" on me and starts booting up again.
NOW I STILL have my iPod Nano 2nd gen, and it works fine, even with the newest iTunes software, it doesn't screw up my pc like the new 3rd gen iPod Nano does.
Now I am to conclude that the problem lies in the 3rd gen iPod itself. How could it not? My iPod Nano 2nd gen works absolutely fine, and everytime I plug in my new iPod Nano, I shut down in a flash withtout fail. Anyone of you have this error? I would love to know short of calling iTunes tech support about what to do about this, this is a MAJOR bummer for sure. Now I have to be concerened about whether or not I am ever going to get this thing to work now.
Is the iPod broken? If not why the shutdowns then? Please advise. Many thanks in advance.

Hey, I bought an iPod nano 3rd gen yesterday and I have exactly the same prolem you are describing in your message. Have you found any solution to this?

  • Itunes shuts down when ipod plugged in

my itunes shuts down the minute i plug in my ipod. ive unistalled and reinstalled ipod and downloaded the ipod updater but still same problem.
what can i do to fix this bc ipod is now worthless.
    thanks,

okay, let's try getting a crash log to the Discussions Hosts, so they can throw it over the fence to the Apple engineers, so they can have a look at it.
Typically, you'll need to configure Dr. Watson on your PC in order to generate crash logs. Windows start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return. At the prompt in the command line window that comes up, type in
    drwtsn32 -i
    And hit return.
This will create crash logs in Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\. There'll usually be a file in here called "drwtsn32.log"
prior to collecting the itunes crash log, delete any existing crash logs in there. (we want to make sure we send the correct crash log.)
plug the ipod in, collect the crash log, and send it to a discussions host
    in the email:
    (1) let them know the precise version number of itunes that you're using. (go into your "Help > About iTunes" to doublecheck.)
    (2) let them know the precise version of the ipod updater you're using.
    (3) include the URL to this thread so that whoever gets the email has some context, but also explicitly mention that you're getting this when you plug in the ipod.

  • IPhone 3G shuts down when not plugged in

    Hello,
I have had this problem for awhile and now just getting to troubleshoot the issue. Basically the phone appears to take a charge after it's been plugged in to my computer and/or outlet, however when removed it shuts down after 30 seconds or so and I have to reboot. Is this a battery issue or another underlying issue? Can it be fixed? I took the phone to the apple store but they were not any help due to no warranty. Thank you!

My 3G's problems have only gotten worse with each new update. Now I literally can't use it continuously for more than two minutes without a full charge going down to zero. I can basically just call people on my 3G and that's it. I probably need to get a new phone now, but with the iPhone 5 possibly coming out this year I want to see if the iPhone 4 (and iPad 1) will go through the same ordeal with iOS5.
I think Apple just needs to learn how to make their software more scalable and learn to support different versions of their OS simultaneously.
With so many models in use it's almost become the same as their personal computers. They shouldn't continue to just support one updated OS optimized for one specific model. Microsoft continues to update and support Windows at least one generation back from the current version because they know there are people who are going to own these things for four years at a time.

  • MBP shuts down when not plugged into wall

    hey there,
was wondering if anyone has experienced this paritcular problem or knows what to do...
I've had my MBP for about a week now, and I just notcied a day that it randonmly shut down... but it was only once, so I though it wasn't that big of a deal. I left the computer charging all night ast night, and when I tried to start it without it being connected to the wall, it wouldn't boot. I checked my batter power, which is 89% full, reset the PRAM and reset all of my premissions, but it still shuts off everytime the DC adapter isn't plugged in. I aso ran the memtest program for RAM which someone on this forum had suggested, but it says that everyhting is A-Ok... What do i do? Somebody, please help!

I am having the exact same problem as you! The computer will run all day plugged into the wall, but after I remove power, it shuts down within 10-15 minutes. It usually refuses to start up again at all until you plug it back in, even though the lights on the battery indicate full charge. After plugging in and restarting, OS X still reports full battery charge. I have tried resetting the PRAM and PMU, and also cleaning the magsafe connections. Apple Hardware Test reports no problems.
I added a stick of Techworks memory from OWC when I got the computer. Other people with sporadic shutdown problems seem to be pointing to bad memory as the culprit. I don't know if that applies here though, because the problem only happens on battery power. Also, I installed the memory as soon as I got the computer and it's been working fine for almost a month now. My shutdowns didn't start until a couple of days ago. I think i will remove this extra stick of memory and see if the problem goes away, just in case. Maybe you should try removing the additional memory you got from the apple store to see if you got a defective piece.
I haven't tried calling apple yet regarding this. Have you? I'm curious to see what they say about it.

  • My computer shuts down when I plug in my iPhone 5. Please help!

I have a new iPhone 5, and when I plug it into my PC, it syncs for a few minutes and then my computer abruptly shuts down. This is my 3rd iPhone model (previously 3G, 4, and now 5), and I've never had this problem before. I reinstalled windows 7 home premium, and reinstalled itunes, but this problem persists
    Any ideas?

Also, I do not have a webcam on this computer, so it can't be an old camera driver... (as was the case for others with this same issue...)

  • New Mac Book Shuts Down when I plug in the Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter

I have a new 15" MacBook pro and every time I plug in the Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter, it shuts down. I installed the Mini DisplayPort to VGA Firmware Update (http://support.apple.com/kb/dl799) and it still shuts down. It shuts down whether I have a display/projector plugged in or not.
    Any suggestions???

Try turning the MBP off before you connect or disconnect an external monitor. I could be wrong but I do not believe that the DVI interface was designed to be a hot swap interface.

  • TS1410 Itunes shuts down when I plug in my Ipod

Ipod Nano shuts down as soon as I plug my Ipod into my Mac

Does iTunes shut down or your Nano? Your title says iTunes, but your post says your Nano...
Are you running the latest version iTunes (10.6.3)?  What happens if you plug the iPod into an other available USB 2.0 port on the Mac?  Do you have another cable you could try and use?

  • ITunes shuts down when iPod plugged in?  iPod corrupt?

I'm sorry if this was posted before...but I looked through a few pages of this board and didn't find it so I'm posting it....
When I plug in my iPod to update it, it says that my iPod file or whatever is corrupt...and the iTunes says it has encountered an error and needs to close. If I start iTunes again, it says it needs to close as soon as it starts up. So, there is no way my iPod is updating.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
    please help!
    thanks if you do

Hello, Below are a couple articles to hopefully assist with this today.
If you find that you have
    -Performed all Windows Updates
-Performed all updates from your computer manufacture
    -Updated iTunes
-Updates hardware drivers of devices connected to the system
*And the computer is still rebooting when iPhone is connected. Please connect it to another computer to see if the same thing occurs. Also please ensure you have tested all USB Ports, and disconnected any un-needed USB Devices.

  • Computer shuts down when not plugged in

When my computer is not plugged in it will not stay on. I've tried removing the battery and putting it back in and restarting the computer many times. Any help would be very much appreciated as to what I should do.

Try resetting the SMC first http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303319
Then check your battery version System/library/systemconfiguration and check is 1.2 if it is 1.3 drag it to trash and reboot then run software update to install 1.2
    Check firmware update in applications/utilities
    Finally calibrate the battery http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/9036.html
If none of those help welcome to the club of the sudden shutdown...
