My PC won't let me restore

Hello. I don't understand computer very well so this might be silly question. But I need your help.
I got iPhone4 yesterday. This iPhone might be defect, b/c I cannot hear anything when I pick up a phone call. Speaker works fine, but not the phone. Person on the other side can hear me, but I cannot hear him/her.
I called my provider and he tried to help me, but we were unable to finish it by phone.
He had told me to sync my phone on iTune then restore it. But, when I click on restore, this came out.
There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone. The network connection timed out.
Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active. or try again later.
After I downloaded iTune, I restarted a PC. I also uninstalled and installed it again. But it still comes out like this.
I have no idea what seeting of my PC is wrong. Could you please help me out? I think unless I try to restore my iPhone and see if my phone is defect, provider will not exchange my phone.

Not a problem at all and this is a question that many people have had. Make sure when you get the time to go to Safari, tap on your bookmarks and you will find ones that connect you to the iPhone manual. If you can take time to read it and it will always be there for you to use.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

IPhone 4 won't download latest version of itunes or the OS or safari, and it won't let me restore without the latest version of itunes. Can you say circle??

I synced my iPhone 4, but it keeps getting the red exclamation points and an error message when I try to download the latest software. And, it won't let me restore the phone without the latest software. I'm stuck.
Then, this morning, the phone locked up completely. I got it to turn off finally, by holding down the power button and home button at the same time for more than 10 seconds. But still no luck with the software download.
It's Thanksgiving, and can't go to Apple.
My phone is my only telephone (no home phone), and I use it to keep track of two email addresses (personal and work). So I'm anxious to have it fully operational.

one can't update itunes or safari seperate on the iphone those 2 are a part of the ios update
you need to update your computer and then update your phone
or if you have ios5 I guess you can update from settings

Error 3194 won't let me restore iPhone 4

The problem with this is that when I click on more info after iTunes says it won't let me restore...if I use terminal and try to edit the host file, there is no host file to edit. I get passed typing in my admin password and then it show the file: private/ect/hosts but that is it. There is literally no host file for me to even fix. This was all caused by me having just backed up my iphone 4 to my mac and then the cord was accidentally pulled out and it went into recovery mode. Tiny Umbrella, Recboot, and all other third party software does nothing to exit it from recovery mode. I just really need my phone back at this point and am hoping there is some way to get it out of recovery mode. If you guys have information for me or can help me with finding, creating, or going back to a factory host file, that would be AMAZING!

Do you have the latest version of iTunes installed on the computer?

I had "do not disturb" on in England. I did take it off airplane mode periodically, but I never actually used the network. I stuck to local wifi to do brousing and a bit of messaging. It periodically told me I was on an English network, but I didn't actually use it. And I had data roaming shut off all together.

You need to restore using the computer you previouisly synced with, otherwise you'll be asked for the passcode.
You didn't forget your passcode (that you use every day) AND lose the computer you sync with on the same day, right? In that case, get the passcode from the phone's actual owner, or use recovery mode.

My iphone won't let me restore it because it says that it is not up to date in i tunes.

My iphone won't let me do a full restore because it says that it is not up to date in itunes.
However, my phone says that it is up to date in the settings menu. Everytime I try to update it again...nothing happens or it says that there was a network failure. The problem seems to exist because I backed up my new iphone 5c with a backup from December 2012 on accident. I tried to back up my
previous iphone, but it didn't take for some reason. Now when I try to back it up to the new backup it says there is not enough room.
So 1. I can't restore it because it thinks it isn't up to date.
2. I can't back it up because it says there is not enough room.
Any help would be great!

Latest iTunes is 11.1.1 and was released specifically for the new 5s/5c phones, so you do have to have it if you are the owner of any of those.

The family has 2 identical 'Hewlett Packard (HP) Pavilion P6210UK / Athlon II X4 620 2.6GHz / 4GB / 1TB / LightScribe DVD-SM / Windows 7 Home Premium / Desktop PC (VG245AA)' My machine has started to run very slow these past few months and after various virus checks, registry scans etc... which came up with nothing, I decided to back up all my work etc... onto an external hard drive and resore machine to factory settings, at the same time my son said he's do the same with the family machine downstairs, he went through the Recovery Manager and it set the machine back to square 1, however my machine won't let me do this, it's asking for a recovery disc, or if I go the pressing F8 route after I've put my password in it has 3 options but the 'System Recovery' option in greyed out, it quite simply won't let me click on it. Now I was to understand that once I'd backed up what I needed the machine would reformat itself from a copy of Windows 7 already stored internally on the machine like our other PC did. Please can anyone help me by telling me another way to reset my PC back to it's factory settings ?

If both PCs are identical, have you created a set of Recovery DVDs on either PC - if you can create these discs on either one of your machines, they should work on the other one. See the link below for a guide on creating your Recovery Discs.

I was updating my iphone, there was an error and now it won't let me restore a backup. What do i do?

I was updating to the latest version of IOs 7 last night and when i woke up there had been an error with the update. When I tried to use my iphone the next morning it said there was an error and i needed to restore it. I did and now it is not letting me restore from backup. I backed up the phone with itunes just before doing to update. I'm so frustrated, now what do i do? it says to go to an apple store or something but i dont live near to one. Anyone suggestions?

I've got a 2012 Mac Book Pro that won't let me restore...

I feel like I've tried everything at this point. While using the disk utility, first aid told me that there was an issue with my Macintosh HD that couldn't be fixed (I tried it several times just to be sure). So I tried using the internet recovery, nothing. I would verify my mac, but once I agreed to the terms, there was no HD I could select to install to. The internal recovery HD did the same thing.
As a last resort before taking it in I just decided to erase the entire HD, and that finally worked. Now I'm not sure what to do. I'm running into the same issue trying to re-install the OS (Lion over internet recovery mode). It takes me past the apple verification screen then there's nothing I can select to install to. I have a back up external hard drive, but no idea how to go about restoring from it. Please let me know what might be happening!
