My PC wont complete installation of iTunes 11

Have tried twice to upgrade iTunes from 10.6.1.7 to 11 on my netbook (Windows XP) as I was unable to sync either my iPhone 4S or iPad 2 due to message saying that I needed to upgrade my iTunes version first.
I have no idea if it is an iTunes or Windows problem. Please help.............

Hi Paul, it took me a while to stop laughing which is what I needed to relieve the frustration I had built up!
Unfortunately, judging by many other posts it seems you are right.
Many thanks,
Warren

I try to install the installation software from the hp website.  Everything loads perfect unstill it gers to 99%, and then it gets an error about some time limitation, or timeout or something? HELP!

    Hi computing_stevo,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I understand you are unable to install the printer software.
I will be happy to help you.
I have provided a lot of steps to follow, but this will allow the installation to finish.
Disconnect the USB cable, if using a USB connection.
Go into printers and faxes, click file then Server Properties.
Click on the drivers tab at the top of print server properties window.
Choose the printer you want to uninstall and click remove.
Choose remove driver and package. If any show Universal PCL 5 or Universal PCL 6 also remove.
The next screen will give a warning, letting you know that deleting the driver package will remove it from the system.
Click yes to say that you are sure you want to do this. (if the printer isn't listed that is OK)
Run the uninstall from the CD.
Go to start, computer, right click the CD, open, double click the uninstall.
Open the device manager window. Go to start, right click my computer, left click properties, click on the hardware tab, click device manager.
Now run the CD install, leave that device manager window open beside the install window.
Don't connect the USB cable until prompted.
    Start the installation.
In the Device Manager Screen do the following:
1 Go to view across the top. Select show hidden devices.
2 Under printers you will see a  universal printer PCL5 or PCL6  or the actual printer, this may take a couple of minutes, be patient. (after connecting the USB cable it should show up)
3 Right click on the printer, update drivers, once again, this option may take a couple of minutes.
Browse to my computer for driver software, let me pick from a list of driver software.
4 You will see two option.
      1) The printer driver.
      2) universal printer PCL5 or PCL6.
5 Select the printer driver and update it and as soon as the update is done the software install will move from connection to installing the software.
This should prevent the fatal error.
I believe that this will provide a resolution to your issue. Thank you.

  • Hplj1009 driver wont complete installation

I am trying to install driver for HP Laserjet P1009 onto a Toshiba L650(windows 7, 64bit) I am using usb, hard wired and am using the driver recommended on hp site, obtained from same. My problem is that the driver starts to install but will not complete. I am getting no error message and am blocked from cancelling task so have to shut down. My trouble shooter has confirmed that the driver is incompatible (even though I was provided from hp) My thoughts are, my machine is very new, is a new update pending from HP? I would be grateful for any thoughts information or answers, thanks, Ian.

I have the same problem.İs there an update for "the driver" for win7 64-based computers????

    Hi,
How do you connect the printer to the XP machine ? If USB, you need to make that machine as a Print server. Please try this:

    Update Server
    Try:
    - Powering off and then back on your router.
    - iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    - Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
    Public DNS — Google Developers
    OpenDNS IP Addresses
    - Try on another computer/network
    - Wait if it is an Apple problem

my phone has switched off for the second time this week, however when connecting to itunes the restore process wont complete. the error is 2006 however i have tried a number of USB cords, and none seem to be working.
I am in the noerthern [parts of australia and accessing an apple store is not possiable for another month. this is my only soucrce or telecommunication. please help

This is what it says about error 2006
    Error 2000-2009 (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, and so on)
If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. If you are using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. If that does not resolve the issue, try the USB issue-resolution steps and articles listed for Error 1604 above. If the issue persists, it may be related to conflicting security software. If the errors persist on another computer and known-good USB cable, the device may need service.

  • I cannot complete an installation of ITunes.  During the install, I receive the following error message:   Error writing to file: C:\Program Files\Bonjour\dns_sd.jar.

I cannot complete an installation of ITunes.  During the install, I receive the following error message:
Error writing to file: C:\Program Files\Bonjour\dns_sd.jar.

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • Ipod shuffle gen 4 wont show up on itunes

I just bought the suffle 4 gen , when i plug it into my MAC itunes wont pick it up!!! how do i fix this ... i have restarted my comp i even plugged in my iphone and it picks it up! what is the deal??

It may be defective, or the short USB cable may be defective.  If you tried the iPhone on the same USB port, you have ruled out a USB port problem, and a problem with the system and iTunes installation.
One thing you can try is to shut down the Mac and remove all USB devices including any hubs. Start it up with only standard keyboard and mouse connected (if normally used).  Do this to reset the shuffle.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1655
Once the Mac completes startup, run iTunes and try connecting the shuffle again, to a direct USB port.

  • Itunes wont open, I get "itunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (-50)"

I'm on Windows 7 - using itunes daily without problems and suddenly itunes wont open, I get "itunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (-50)"  The only thing I can think is I think there was a download in progress when I shut down the computer.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalled, but I get the same thing. I tried clearing the itunes folder and reinstalling, same thing. help!

Doublechecking. When you did the complete uninstall, were you using the following document as a guide?
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
(If damaged program files are involved here, a standard install might not remove them, and a reinstall might not then replace them. So the Verify iTunes and related components are completely uninstalled section is an important step.)

  • Ipod is FROZEN and WONT SHOW UP ON ITUNES/COMPUTER!

My second generation Ipod is a little more than a year old and has worked splendidly until this last monday.
Five days ago my ipod would not play a song, and when i tried to skip it, it wouldnt play that song either. The CD cover would also not show up.
This has happened to me before, so i did what i normally do to fix it, plug it into a wall charger for a whole day. However, this did nothing. Today, I took it off the charger and plugged it into my computer, a little beep sounds but wont show up on itunes or my computer.
It began to charge with my computer, but then it froze completely. Im unable to change the song or turn it off (when i take it off the computer it is still frozen for hours with the backlight and charging sign in the battery)
obviosly i can not restore it if it wont show up on itnes, and i can not put it in disk mode if it is frozen!
is there anything i can do?

Mine did the same thing, hold down the center button then press menu hold them both down for about 10 seconds. You may have to do it more than once. I hope that helps!!!!!!

  • Error - 1603 on installation of itunes and quicktime

Ive read and trouble shot various threads in this... heres my problem
I tried installing, and it didnt work... after that i tried uninstalling both itunes and quicktime, the itunes never showed up in my add/remove section... using the windows install clean up and this took off the itunes... im assuming. ok after that i tried deleting everything from quicktime. I did the add/remove and took it off. Now im trying to install quicktime and the installer wont even start, when it does start it gets about 80% done and then gives me the 1603 message. Same scenerio with Itunes. I am installing from the desktop not from the internet.
    heres what the message reads.
Error - 1603 Fatal Error During Installation
Consult Windows Installer Help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more information
I put off so much work to try to get this fixed... i need some assistance.
    thanks in advance.

    Hello everybody,
I have exactly the same problem as Mark and Paul, both with QT7 install and itunes install but it turned a bit differently.
Before having the -1603 error, I had, for each of the both installs (QT & itunes), a registry error "impossible to open the HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\Classes....."
I did all was possible, at least to me(delete temp files, uninstall all QT & itunes applications, run Windows Installer Cleaner ...), and I finally manage to install QT V7 but the error still remains for itunes !
Like Paul, I can't find the select Local Users and Groups under
Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > System Tools
I tried the "%windir%\registration" solution but after opening the folder , I don't know what to do !!??!!
    I've got an empty "CRMLog" folder, a "{02D4B3F1-FD88-11D1-960D-00805FC79235}.{E6259674-0B1E-4459-893A-8BC3F8707995}. crmlog file, a R00000000000b and a R00000000000c files.
What should I try with those files, pleeeeaaaase ? Helpppp : I'm not THAT good !
PS A may be useful precision : this occurs with an old version of itunes (V5, I think)
    PS2 : in the register at "HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\Classes\.cdda\OpenWithProgids", I have a iTunes.cdda file --> should I try and delete it ?
    Thanks in advance
    Marie

  • TS1741 I've downloaded a few apps since I got my ipad 3 two weeks ago...now it just sits on ( waiting ) and wont complete the download. Any ideas? Thanks, Chris

I've downloaded a few apps since I got my ipad 3 two weeks ago...now it just sits on ( waiting ) and wont complete the download. Any ideas? Thanks, Chris

Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.
