my pdf's will not dl either and nothing will open except qt picture viewer. quick time is over riding pdf files. is there a check mark to take off somewhere. quick time should not over power pdf files.

I can't explain the cause to the problem - but I found two "work-arounds" to get me running again.
Workaround #1:
I found another program (and there are many) on the web that will also read .pdf files. I downloaded "Foxit Reader" , installed it and it works. I can now view my pdf docs!
However - I got so used to Adobe Reader - I really wanted to get Reader working again.
Workaround #2:
I re-installed Adobe Reader 8.
Instead of running the usual Adobe installation script that I got from the web, I copied (from another PC's C-drive) the "Reader 8.0" folder and all its contents into my current C- drive directory structure C:\Program Files\Adobe\.
I re-booted the PC and can now open my pdf files using Reader 8.
It seems to work - but I don't know what the effects of this installation method will have in the future - or the interaction it will have with other programs. I guess when I need to remove the program in the future - I'll have to do it manually, since it doesn't even register in the "Add or Remove Programs" under Control Panel.

In the original problem, it's unfortunate that there were no error messages whatsoever when I tried opening the pdf files. It was like as if Reader was not even activated or even loaded on my PC. I'll bug me for a while - but at least I got Reader working again (for now....)!

Quit the messages app and reset your phone.
Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it jiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then restart the app and see if it works normally. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart.
After the phone restarts go into Messages and delete the thread containing the problem message.

The way I did it was I got the free app sync:stream from the App Store and then added my ipod to my ps3's Bluetooth devices. Then went to audio settings and set output and input to 'Skaggs iPod' you then open the app and it will be listed under music as a media service. You then go to all tracks and click copy (press triangle) it will then begin to copy all of your songs onto your ps3 via Bluetooth. I haven't tried but I assume the same can be done with photos. Firefox will NOT start, deleting and reinstalling will start as last step but once Firefox is closed it will NOT restart.

Both browsers (Firefox 21 & IE) installed on my 64-bit Widows XP desktop refuse to start either from clicking the desktop icon, the start bar menu, or the executables themselves. What does happen is that all icons disappear from the screen for some 15-30 seconds, then the icons are returned to the screen, and the last informative message displayed from the system tray at start up is repeated.
Deleting Firefox and reinstalling will start the browser as the last step, but when the new copy is closed it will not start. Also just rerunning the installation download without deleting Firefox will "Upgrade" and start as a last step but when the new copy is closed it can not be restarted. Running restore on the new copy has on apparent effect on the ultimate inability to restart after closing.
I only tried the IE browser after being unable to start Firefox (its ordinarily only used by the MS update procedure) and have not investigated either reinstalling or repairing it.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Ok, so after like 4 days of going through all these different issues, I figured out that several programs weren't downloading, and it was an issue with my wireless connectivity messing up the digital signatures, so if you plug in your comp to the modem and delete your temp files, it should start to work!

Some Web Sites Will Not Load Up and Some Will Load Correctly

I have not been able to load up mypoints.com and manybooks.net in a week. Also Amazon loads up crazy with a lot of boxes on the top and side with writing in the background of the boxes. I have loaded up Amazon on Google Chrome and IE and it works fine.

I have finally fixed the problem. In network preferences, I set the DNS settings to 208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222
I initially only set these for the Airport, but then noticed that these were different to the ones for the ethernet; once I set the same values for the ethernet all sites gained instant access again.

My computer will NOT startup up, and nothing seems to work...

So my iBook, running 10.4.x, froze while I was typing. I did a force shutdown (holding the power key for 5 seconds). That's the last I've seen it startup. Here's what I've done so far.
After 20-someodd attempts, I finally got it to boot into single user mode. Ran fsck, drive checked out ok. Still wouldn't boot.
Won't startup in safe mode. I get stuck at the blue screen (which, incidentally, is where I always end up).
Tried booting in target disk mode (not sure why), but it wouldn't mount to my PowerMac.
Tried resetting the PRAM. Nothing.
Tried resetting the PMU. Nothing.
Tried booting to a CD. Wouldn't boot to the CD.
Always ends up at the blue screen, won't go further.
Any other ideas? Did I miss anything?

Open iTunes on your computer and try connecting your phone. See if iTunes reports that your phone is in recovery mode. If so you will have to restore it.

The keyboard number keys and symbols above them will not work. I nothing at all except a space or they last letter key used, but works fine in other applications such as MS Word. The number pad works just fine. Any one have any thoughts on this.

I had to do a reinstall and upgrade to Windows 7, so I may have missed something. Running a 64bit OS. Problem only seems to be in the browsers.

IPhone will not play songs and videos will not play in You Tube.

When I try to play a song it starts to play the song then goes back to the song page.

Try force-closing the Music app: from the home screen, double-tap the home button, locate Music in the list at the bottom, tap and hold it until it wiggles, tap to close it, tap the home button again, then try to play your music again.

Waveburner will not save overviews and CD drawer opens when quitting.

When I re-open a file saved in Waveburner 1.5 the waveforms have to re-draw. And, something very bizarre, when I quit Waveburner my external DVD's drawer opens.
Anyone experiencing this??

Yes my DVD/CD app also does that when quitting Wave Burner. Maybe it´s supposed to be a feature so you won´t forget your project-DVD in the drive:)

Firefox will not load https (and other websites)

Hello everyone.
I'm running Firefox 18.0 on Windows 7 (64bit). Out of the blue, it started not loading certain webistes. It just spits out blank pages, or does not react when clicking login buttons. The web console will display a GET-message [for facebook: http/1.1. 302 Found 174ms], but hard reloads (CTRL+F5) do not help either.
So far, I have encountered problems with :
- Facebook (blank page)
- Amazon (will not react upon "login")
- GMX (will not react upon "login")
- Mozilla.org (will not let me download Firefox anew OR create a support account)
- My university's library catalogue (will not react upon "login")
- Any of my university's https://-pages
- The Google search in the Firefox task bar.
- EDIT: The e-mail confirmation link this board has send me will not load either.
They will load in Internet Explorer, so here's what I did:
- EVERYTHING from the "Firefox can't load websites, but other browsers can" page, including
Removing and readding FF to my Firewall exceptions,
changing proxy settings,
Dis- and enabling IvP6 settings,
DNS Prefetching,
Clearing cookies, history, browser cache and network cache,
full system scan
- Deleting and Reinstalling Firefox
- Dis- and enabled SPDY in about:config
Please help. I'm at the end of my rope. Thanks.
EDIT: The websites work if I start FF in safe mode. Hope this leads to something.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

I upgraded from 3.6.13 to Beta 4.0 and now Firefox will not open at all I tried to uninstall to start again but it will not uninstall either it does nothing.

The fact it will not uninstall appears to be something completely new as nobody I know who uses Firefox has ever encountered this in the past.

Did you check your security software (firewall)?
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

Does it light up at all? If not, you could have a battery issue.
