  • Are there any Apps for Pearl 8220 Flip

    Hello,
Are there any Apps that I can download for Pearl 8220 Flip. I tried to download the App World using Wi Fi but it wouldn't allow. How can Install in my phone.
    Thanks,
    Sai

    Hello,
Please check this page to ensure you meet the minimum requirements:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/appworld/download.jsp
Further, please check that AppWorld is available in your country:
    http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/1
    http://www.blackberry.com/app_includes/devicesoftware/appworld/appworld_availability_en.html
If it is available in your country and you feel you meet the device-level system requirements, then contact your carrier to ensure that you meet the service plan (from them) requirements for access (via their network) to AppWorld.
    Good luck!

  • BB Pearl 8220 Flip Hanging Issue

    Dear All,
I have recently purchased BB pearl 8220 flip and very sad to know that device got completely hanged every second day which is very irritating to me so can any one please suggest/guide me what actually to do which helps me to get rid of the highlighted issue.
    Regards

I just found the real fix by reading post linked below.  Open Blackberry Desk Manager while your 8220 is connected to your PC.  Open Application Loader.  Install Blackberry Attachment Service.  As soon as it completed installation my external display was back to the clock.  My T-Mobile SIM is currently out of the house and the phone is locked so I can't try Caller-ID or other alerts until tonight but if the clock is back I believe everything else is too.
Thanks to zwood for posting the fix below.

  • Help, my Pearl 8220 Flip keeps crashing!!!

    Hi guys,
I have a pearl 8220 flip and for the last month it has been turning it's self off up to 10 times every day.  The battery is fine as this was replaced with new in May this year.  A few months ago I had an error message appear on my phone telling me that the memory card could not be read and deleted all my music and pictures etc (other than the ones that come on the phone).
My hubby called Orange last night to see if they could either help me out with getting it fixed / sorted or sending me a new replacement but the warranty for the phone ran out in September, don't get me started on that, we have a 18 month contract with Orange yet Blackberry only offer 12 months on their warranties, why not offer 18 or 24 months, depending on the customers contract with the service provider.  I am now stuck with this phone until the contract is due for renewal!!!
Can anyone help me with this on what I can do to  get the phone to work properly other than launching it out the window!!!!!!!!
    Thanks in advance.
    Lisa

    Hi MrsAxx,
Welcome to BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
I would suggest backing up your device using the BlackBerry Desktop Software and doing a clean reload of the software as shown in this KB article. http://bbry.lv/bpv7E1 Then do a selective restore from your backup file, restoring essential data only. http://bbry.lv/bhaArf

  • BB Pearl 8220 flip - Questions??

This might seem like a silly question but I just got this phone and I am still learning how to use it.  I have noticed that when I am in an application (ex. facebook or my contact list) and I flip my phone shut it does not end the application and return to my home page.  Is this normal and is there a setting that I can change so that flipping my phone shut stops whatever I was doing?  I am used to my old Motorola and whenever I flipped that phone shut it took me back to my main page.  Thanks for your help and advice!!

I don't know if my first post was clear or not.....
Here is an example of what I meant:
Say I am looking at my contact list and I flip my phone shut.  When I open it back up again, the contact list is still on my screen.
    OR
Say I am looking at a facebook profile and I flip my phone shut.  When I open it back up again, the facebook profile is still on my screen.
My question is:  Should the contact list or the facebook profile, etc. still be open when I open my phone back up or should flipping the phone shut close the application and return me to the home screen?
I prefer to close my phone and shut down applications when I do so, so is there a setting that I can change that will allow the phone to do this???
    P.S.  I have a BB Pearl Flip (8220) with v. 4.6
Thanks!  I really appreciate any input/suggestions!

  • Website navigation is not working on the Pearl 8220 (Flip)

The websites were working fine, but today, when I am trying to navigate, it's just not working. I can "Download file" or "Go to Link", but I was working on a page and put in my information, but where it said 'Login', the button never reacted.
This happened on more than one page.
On my computer (notebook or desktop), I can use the "Enter" button to proceed. What is a work around on the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220?

With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot.
    Try using your browser again.

  • Blackberry 8220 Flip phone gives red light, then shows clock and repeats...... forever....!

Hi I have a blackberry pearl 8220 flip that's bricked. It goes from a long red light to the clock loading screen and continues until by battery is dead.
I have tried reloading the current OS available (v4.6.0.174) through the latest blackberry desktop manager several times, and I did select the options to completely wipe all data on the pearl. I got the desktop manager to detect the phone by taking out the battery at first, and then putting it in. The reload worked properly, everything got wiped off and the os was reinstalled. It worked for a couple of hours, but the problem pops up again. I've even tried reloading an older os (4.5) but it doesn't work either.
    Please help...

Hmmm...OK, then you might need to completely wipe it out first and then reload the OS...see this:
    http://forums.crackberry.com/f3/how-wipe-jl_cmder-53502/
If that fails, then you are probably ready for warranty support -- from your carrier.
    Good luck!

  • Unlocked T-Mobile Blackberry 8220 Flip and other Network Providers

    Hello Everyone,
Just bought an unlocked t-mobile blackberry pearl 8220 flip phone and wondering if there will be any issues with my service provider in regards to mms, gprs or BIS? Currently have a sim with mms and gprs access for my Sony Ericsson T306, i know these t-mobile branded phones have imbedded apps for t-mobile like tzones etc and you can't really get gprs access whether provisioning it manually or automatically from service provider. Does anyone had any issues or solutions can help me out.

Probably.  I don't see that you have stated your carrier, so it could vary.
You should be ok, but in most cases, on a BlackBerry, a MMS Transport service book is required for MMS messages to carry the 'data' portion of the MMS message. Realizing that MMS is nothing more than an SMS text message with a file, or data, attached, the carrier pushes a service book to your device which enables the data portion of the SMS.

I'm temted to buy a secondhand (2-3 month old) 8220 flip phone and although the seller seems OK in her emails, You never know. What must I look for in order to be reasonably sure of my purchase?

  • 8220 Flip - trying to update OS from 570 error - constant BB restart - HELP

    Hi All,
New to BB and have a problem here.
I have an 8220 Flip and it started producing JVM errors now and again but reboot cleared them and all worked a couple of hours BUT this morning after rebooting I get the 507 error.
I have researched this and trie everything I could find for over 6 hours now and tried everything - here is my problem:
I have updated DM and downloaded the correct OS - all is well in the manager.
I have deleted every occurance of vendor.xml on the pc.
I run Loader.exe directly, battery out then as soon as the display changes to USB: UNKNOWN - I click on Next - it finds the device, finds the new OS and proceeds to install...
It gets through the first 3 processes and then gets to Installing Modules - the fuel guage gets about 3mm up, the Blackberry reboots and the Loader software reports it cannot connect to the device - which makes sense as it has just rebooted, if I wait about 2 mins the BB boots back up - if I hit retry in the PC dialog the same thing happens.
I have read post after post and just cant get to the bottom of this - if I could stop it rebooting then I think the OS would go back on - but I can't ????
I am on Vista 32bit - All USB's have poer save off.
I have tried this with 2 cables and on 2 laptops now - all the same result.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?? I am self employed and not having the phone is a
    disaster.
    Thanks All

I am having the same issue with my 8220, no matter what I try, the phone turns itself off during the "Loading application modules" portion of the software install... Just wondering if anyone has discovered a solution to this yet?

  • 8220 Flip External Screen Problem

I'm a brand new blackberry owner and this is my first ever blackberry devive, so please be patient with me
The external display on my 8220 Flip is not acting how it was all day yesterday after I bought it.  The external screen constantly displays the clock and will not turn itself off.  I charged it last night on the bedstand and this morning it was still on.  Playing music works ok, but the clock still displays if music is playing while the flip is closed.  External buttons for pause and volume work correctly, and cause the external "now playing" screen to briefly appear, but then it goes right back to the clock.
I'm not sure exactly how this would have changed, but it appeared to happen when I changed from one theme to another, unforutnately it did not correct itself by going back to the correct behavior after I returned to the original theme.
I'm almost positive this has to (eventually) have some kind of negative affect on the display and battery life.  Can anyone point me in the right direction for fixing this?
    Many thanks in advance!

  • Pearl 8220 camera image quality is poor, poor, poor

The photo image quality of the camera on my BB Pearl 8220 is extremely grainy and dark.
I understand this is a cell phone camera and expectations are low to begin with, but this is unacceptably low quality.  The flash appears to function properly but that doesn't matter because the image quality is poor even for pictures taken in full sunlight.
Are there camera adjustments or settings that I haven't found that can remedy this problem?  The ones I HAVE found have had no effect.
    Thanks for any help.

i've taken some good pics with our phones...
I did notice that you need to be extremely steady (no built in "camera shake"), but other than that, its all been good.
I used the options to make the pics as large as possible too; but I do that with our digital camera as well.  I use Paint Shop to edit them on our PC.

If there is no way; there is always a bigger hammer.

  • 8220 flip: trouble synching calendar

Recently received an 8220 Flip as a work phone.  Set up the synch and everything but the calendar works fine.  The device calendar deletes entries, and then tries to update outlook calendar with the deletions.  These are usually in the region of 700 entries (the device tries to delete). I want to keep all old and new entries in both outlook and my device, but the phone appears only to recognise recurring appointments in the calendar. Has anyone seen this type of issue before? I basically want the outlook calendar and device calendar identical, and for each to update with changes to either calendar... none of this business with the phone trying to delete entries. Please help... thanks!

    1) In calendar, options, general options what do you have for the option 'Keep Appointments"?
    2) In calendar, options are you using a calendar associated with an email address?
If you look at the device default calendar, do you have any records listed?

  • My New 8220 Flip

Hey there, I`ve had my 8220 flip for just over a week now and so far pretty good.  Two questions though.
First, has anyone tried to pair a Motorola H700 bluetooth headset with it? The phone tells me it is is successfully paired, yet the headset seems to be on mute when I try to talk to someone.  I've tried the "unmute" procedure on the headset (pressing both volume buttons at once) and no luck.
Second, this will eventually become my only phone, no land line.  For those of you who have had an 8220 for some time, does it seem like it will stand the test of time? Or at least until my next upgrade, LOL? How's it holding up?  I can still bring it back and get the Curve if I change my mind in the next couple of weeks.
    Thanks

What is your Operating System loaded to your device?
Look at Options > About, third line down beginning with a "v.4.xxx"
    What is yours?
First locate your carrier and the OS file you wish to use.
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
Do a backup of your device first, using Desktop Manager > Backup. Close Desktop Manager upon completion.
    1. Download the OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
    2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
    3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.
    4. Locate and CHECK to load the Task and Memo's application.
Doing any of the above should not involve your BIS Admin, and as long as you are only adding those two applications and not upgrading the base device OS, you won't require a new activation on the BES.

  • 8220 (FLIP)

    Hi all-
I just ordered the flip from T-Mobile because of the software upgrade problem with the curve from 4.2.2 to 4.5 (the audio is extremely low after you upgrade and there doesn't seem to be a work around it).  They told me I would not be able to revert back to 4.2.2 because they no longer carried the version on their site after updating it to 4.5.  The only other way would be for me to find it online somewhere and that's kinda risky...I don't want to obtain the software from an unknown source and it possibly damaging my phone.  So T-Mobile let me get the flip for free because of the problem.  A few things I wanted to know real quick...
#1.  They told me the OS version that comes with the phone is a 4.6 version.  Is anyone having an issue with their ringers not being loud or is everything ok with them?  I know when I upgraded my curve from 4.2.2 to 4.5 the volume setting on high sounded like it did when it was set on low when I was running 4.2.2, you can hardly hear it ring.  So I wanted to ask anyone who has the phone if the ringtone levels are high or if they are low?
#2.  As far as themes go, this phone doesn't come with a "icon theme" where all the icons that you use are displayed on the screen.  Are there themes out now for the 8220 flip like on crackberry, etc or have they not been made yet because of how new the phone is?
    Thanks!

I am also on T-mobile and software version 4.6.0.180 is plenty loud when you have it turned up.  James
I hope that this informatiion helps you to solve the problem!
