My phone cannot receieve calls or messages

My I phone goes straight to VM when I am called and will not receive messages. Outgoing calls and messages work fine
I have reset and restored

Try as a new device and if it works, then gradually add back your data.

I updated my 3GS iphone to 5.0.1 yesterday. I can make calls and send messages, but cannot recieve calls or messages. I called telstra as I instantly thought network problems. My friends and family who are also on telstra have not had network issues. I thought it was strange that this has only occurred after updating my software?? I have restored my phone, reset network settings and still nothing!! Is anyone else experiencing anything similar?

i have since inserted my sim card into an old phone and then put it back in my 3gs and just received 40+ messages.. not sure why its working now, but it is so I'm happy

Iam a new user of iphone..When the screen is on lock, you cant hear incoming calls or messages..Is there away when locked you can still hear your phone when a call or message comes in?

What do you mean "out of warranty"? Warranty is for a year right? Or am I out of warranty because the phone cracked? I'm a noob...

My Phone Cannot Place Calls or Receive them

This is the Second Time this Problem has Happened. Each Time followed a Plane Trip from Detroit to Kansas City MO. The Phone Was Turned OFF while on the plane both times. I can Text and Receive DATA ONLY! Any call Place results with a message "The Number is Not in Service". I received a Text that when someone Calls My Phone they hear "All Circuits are Busy".
I DEPEND on This PHONE for My Business! I DO NOT HAVE TIME FOR THIS ISSUE TO KEEP HAPPENING!!!! The Verizon Techs CANNOT FIGURE IT OUT. They All want to Change the SIM Card. That was done the First Time (3 Weeks Ago) and Again When i Returned Home. At That Point I Could Place Calls, But No One Could HEAR ME! Come to find out, the phone had Switched to 4GLTE Only. If i had Less than That Coverage, My Phone Could Not Transmit My Voice!
I am at the End of my Patience With this PHONE. I had a Droid 4 and it was Fine (I Still Have It and am about to put it Back Into Service). I was talked Into this Piece of JUNK by a Pushy Verizon Twit in Toledo that would not Respond to me When I had Issues with the Turbo Set Up. I called her number when I had an issue and she Never Responded. I had to figure it out on my own and waste a bunch of time in doing so.
I Need RESULTS NOW, And What About this LOLIPOP 5.1 UPDATE I Keep Hearing About. Will That actually FIX This Thing or is it Just Another Verizon Buffer??!!

I want that to be the same for you! You've mentioned that you've had issues after deboarding the plane. One of the things you'll want to be sure of is that the device isn't inadvertently in Airplane Mode. Please go to Settings> Airplane Mode. If it is set to "On", please turn it off and try your device again. If it was already set to off, then we can move to other possible contributors. Phone cannot make calls or texts

I'm hopeing somebody will be able to help me with an issue I'm having with my phone.
I successfully activated my phone on Friday ( 3 days ago ).. the cell service worked great on Saturday.. I was able to make calls and texts.. However since Sunday, the network no longer seems to function.
1. Whenever I send a text message it doesn't go through
2. When I try to make a phone call it automatically connects me to a Verizon operator saying to use a calling card or something.
Friends and Family report that when they try to call me they get a disconnected message / text messages do not go through.
I just became a Verizon user on Friday after switching from AT&t (7 years with them)

I had the same problem on Saturday, and I stopped into a Verizon kiosk at the mall. The guy at the counter simply checked to see that I was properly set to the correct device on his computer and after he did so, he dialed *228 on my phone and followed the instructions. I haven't had any issues since. My only difference, is that I switched from the iPhone 4 to the 4S, but have alwasy been a Verizon customer. But as far as the problem goes, It sounds identical to mine in every other sense. I'd stop into a see verizon person if you can.

Phone wont take calls or messages nor send them.....

every since I updated my phone the other day, I cant send or receive phone call and text. Anybody else having this issue? I have reset my phone, my network, took my sim out. I have tried everything. I keep having to switch it to airplane mode then back and sometimes that still dont work.

reset all settings
settings-general-reset-reset all settings
now reconnect to wifi
settings- wifi- click network name- enter password - join
if issue persists back up and restore as new via iTunes

I cannot make or receive calls or messages

I recently purchased my iphone and when I first installed my sim it worked - was able to make and receive calls.
Since then I have been adding applications, songs etc and generally played around with the phone.
Now I have discovered I cannot make or receive calls or text messages.
I think I may have done something accidently.
Have tried all the suggestions on the apple site but still no luck.
Can anybody offer any other suggestions.

Did you check if you set your iPhone to Flight Mode by mistake? If you did, he will only work as an iPod, no calls or messaging.
If you did the above, just set it back to normal, you will need to access settings on your iPhone, it is easy to check.

When iPhone is on Cellular data and WiFi, i cannot make calls and phone goes out of service.

So I have this iPhone 5S unlocked version from the US which I am using in India. When I am connected to my office wireless and also the cellular & 3G data are switched on, my phone goes out of service and I cannot make calls. I can also use internet.
However this works great when I get onto my home WiFi along with cellular & 3G data switched on, I can make calls and also surf the net with the WiFi.
Is anyone having similar issue? I am sure there is something with the office WiFi but what could it be to get my phone out of service.
Any thoughts anybody ?

Yes I shutdown WiFi and I can connect to 3G on Cellular. I can make calls.
If I shutdown Cellular and connect WiFi. I can make calls.
Its just that when both are ON, then no calls can be made.
All combinations work good with Home WiFi.

The short solution is to go to Settings > FaceTime > iPhone Cellular Calls OFF.
However, as Csound points out, you should not really be sharing an Apple ID with anyone. See: How to Stop Sharing an Apple ID.

Have you talked to your carrier (or your friend to his)? Could be an issue at their end.

I upgraded to a 4g and the most recent backup (today) is not showing up. I went ahead and backed up and found that my texts, phone calls and messages did not backup.

You don't metion whether the car was hot or cold.
