My phone has been stolen. What now?

I'm concerned that valuable info has been breached. How do I wipe my phone clean?

If you set up find my iphone on the iphone itself and it is on and it has not been restored, then you may be able to do this via icloud.com.
Otherwise you cannot do anything but report it to the police and change your passwords and alert your carrier.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    You can only locate your device when it is logged into iCloud and 'Find My Phone' is enabled, additionally the device will need to be switched on and connected to a wifi or cellular network.
    Unfortunately, you cannot activate iCloud or 'Find My Phone' remotely.
    If the device is wiped by you or another, you may not be able to locate the device (although some have reported they can)

    You cannot. Wiping is an all-or-nothing deal. I would not be concerned since you have a passcode.

    The phone has been abroad for 4 months using a local sim card.  Now home, it has been 'updated' from itunes and now insists on 'Restore'.  This will delete all contacts.  Backup unavailable, the screen shows only the sign to plug in to itunes.  Have tried turning off and on.  Same. 

    Although contacts are included with your iPhone's backup along with a significant amount of other data which is updated by iTunes as the first step during the iTunes sync process, contacts are designed to be synced with a supported address book application on your computer. Not a good idea to depend on your iPhone and your iPhone's backup or on any cell phone along for your contacts, which can be lost or stolen, or suffer hardware damage from being dropped in water or liquid, etc.

    Unless the device has been jailbroken, then it cannot be hijacked. It just sounds like it had trouble reading your fingerprint. However, now that the device is disabled, you will have to follow the directions in this support document to restore the device.     You cannot locate it.
    You report it stolen like anything else.
    Contact the police and tell them you have been the vistim of theft and need to report it.
    Also, change your passwords and alert your carrier.

    You may need to put the iPad into recovery mode for it to be recognised by your computer's iTunes : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808 - you should then be able to reset the iPad and re-sync your content to it.
