My phone has died without warning
Hi my phone had over 50% battery life then a minute later it was dead completely and wont charge up
Very strange....mine did the same thing. I held down both the home key and the power key for around ten seconds and it turned back on. I wonder what's going on?! For one brielf, albeit exciting moment, I thought it was my opportunity (excuse) to go out and purchase the 4S! Sigh....

I am beyond livid that my two-year apple care plan is now expired on my iPhone 3G and my phone has completely gone kaput. I attempted to go to AT&T yesterday and just get the iPhone 4, but with the iPhone 5 lurking just around the corner, I would have to pay full value when it comes out in a few weeks/months.
My brother gave me his old iPhone; will I be able to activate it with no problem? I read an article somewhere that I'd have to sign a new two-year agreement with AT&T to activate the old phone, again defeating the purpose of using an interim phone before the 5 comes out.
Someone help!!Actually MArc, it is you who needs to get the story straight.
Apple Care on an iPhone only extends the warranty one year past the original first year, giving you 2 years in total.

Disk drive suddently died without warning? :(
I've been trying to get Bootcamp to work- I have a MBP so I cant use a usb drive to start it. After burning a disk in an iMac, I put it into my drive.. it made like a whiring sound, then it whined down.. did that two more times, then it spit out my disk. I tested it on the iMac and did work, so the disk isnt bajorked Drive was working fine yesterday..
That actually is very much the nature of optical and hard drives - they very often do not die a slow nor obvious death with plenty of warning. They just flip over and die suddenly, and with little or no warning.
Is the MBP still under warranty or AppleCare by any chance? Your drive would be covered for hardware failure.
If it is out of warranty, take a loot at www.ifixit.com or other self-repair sites - ifixit has SuperDrives for about $150 (late 2008 MBP) and has detailed instructions to replace it yourself).
P,S, you have tested the bad drive with at least one or more other discs though, right? Just to be sure. -
My I phone is literally dead. I tried upgarding the software yestreday, it refused saying there was an error, I was given an option to restore it, it has failed. Now there is no old software as well as the new software. Its showing a plug and an Itunes signal on top. Thats all that it has. I will be very grateful to receive any form of help out there.
The iOs 5.1 is a huge file that needs to be dowloaded when updating/restoring, your phone hasnt completed the update so its now in recovery mode. Look on the left of itunes, it should say downloads under the store section with a spinning wheel, click that and youll see the update file with a time remaining, wait for that download to finish then try the restore again and it should work

HELP!! error 1013 when trying to restore!? PHONE HAS DIED!!
i tried udating my iphone 3GS with my itunes and it failed asked me to restore my iphone and now wont restore, i just get a message saying "unknown error 1013, unable to restore"?!
would be very grateful for help as id like to go to sleep!First delete all .ipsw files on your computer. In OSX they are located here:
~/Library/Application Support/iTunes/iPod/iphone Firmware
If you have your firewall turned on, disable it. Then see if you can force the phone into recovery mode:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, itunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.
Also, any reason why you have not updated to 10.6.2? You might try updating to 10.6.2 FIRST & also make sure itunes is up to date, version 9.0.3. -
Not sure what just happened. The phone was fine, I put it down for 10 minutes, and now it's completely dead.
I reset the phone by holding down the power button and the back button until the apple icon appeared on the screen, and it has been working since.

Last night, my G4 mirrordoor died suddenly. I was checking email, and the screen froze. Once I was sure this was a real freeze, I used the power button on the studio display to restart. In the restart sequence, things went as far as the login screen, and then it froze again.
Next time, I held down the option key, in case the startup drive had a corrupted system. The startup sequence quit in less than a minute, while the spinning bellybutton cursor and grey screen were up. So I waited for at least fifteen minutes, in case the machine was overheated (the temp had been 57.4°C). Then I tried a safe boot, with the same result.
So I waited till morning. Today, the startup once again failed in the early stages. I then connected my PowerBook, and tried target mode. Only one of the four internal drives shows up on the desktop.
What is likely to be wrong, and what can I do to fix this problem?
Thanks. We all wondered why the rest of the world couldn't just use the English system.
So typical of Americans to think that the rest of the world should change, rather than the US joining the rest of the world! (BTW- I am an American citizen, born and raised...). I, as well, attended schools that were foresighted enough to include the metric system in the curriculum, and, unlike many, I took the metric system to heart. Good thing, as construction (I'm a home builder) in Japan is all metric based.
The metric system is the measurement of choice for the sciences. Like it or not, Computer Technology is a science, and proper use of terminology and measurements is a necessity.
And besides, isn't it about time that Americans gave up on old imperial measurements and ideas.
I thought that was what the American Revolution was about......... -
Several times now my iMac has restarted without warning (without first crashing or freezing or any other indication). I've posted the most recent crash report below. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

How to know if your internal battery has died
How do you know if your internal battery has died without pulling it out of the computer and with out a battery tester?
Hi, REMeeks -
Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
One way to do that is to make sure the date and time are correct, then shut the machine down and unplug it. Wait about an hour, then plug it in and start it up again. Check the date and time - if they are still correct, the battery is probably still good enough.
Unplugging the machine is important - even when the machine is turned off, if it is still plugged into live power it will draw a bit of current in order to maintain PRAM and the clock chip. By unplugging it you force it to use the battery; if that is too weak, the date and time will revert to original default. -

After 04 months of purchase of iphone 5 the lock button is too hard. At times its not working at all. The phone has been purchased in USA now I'm not getting service in India. After all whats the point in spending so much amount without any service.
The warranty says that Apple may restrict service of an iPhone to the country of sale, and any reliable salesperson will tell you that if you tell them that you plan to use the iPhone in another country. Such service restrictions are common with cellphones and are by no means limited to Apple's phones.
Sorry, but if your iPhone requires service, you will need to send it to someone you know in the US who can get it serviced and then send it back to you.
Regards. -
my phone has been losing calls and according to the apple store i need to reset it due to a software fault - i have done this and still have the same problems. how do i reset the phone without reinstalling the soft ware fault by way of icloud backup
Well, it appears that your backup is corrupt, thus causing your issue. So, you'll have to restore as a new device, & not from backup. Follow this by syncing your content back to your phone:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414
Do not restore from backup.
