Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

This is very frustrating. Like three months ago my ipod touch, 5th generation, just turns off out of no where. It will be charged and working fine but then the screen goes completely black and I can't turn it on. But then after like a day or so it turns back on and works until it decides to shut off again. And the cycle repeats. I'm scared its going to break for good.
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still reoccurs, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

My phone randomly shut off. When I turned it back on it said it needed to restore, to plug it into itunes. When I did, and tried to restore it, it failed with a code 21. I have followed all the instructions, it still isn't working. I've uninstalled and reinstalled all that the steps told me to, I've updated everything in my computer. I don't know what else to do. My phone will just show the apple sign and the itunes plug in sign.

I have a iPhone 4 and lately it has been shutting down randomly when I still have battery left. It also doesn't turn back on, until I plug it in to the charger. But when I plug it in, the low battery sign shows up then comes to the lock screen with like 68% left.

A reset may help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off buttons for approximately 15-20 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons.
No content is affected by this procedure. -

Internal mic wont shut off even though its disabled. How do I fix this?
Im trying to run samplitude music studio mx software and use the line in and mic in ports to record. The external mic that's built into my laptop wont shut off, and records background noise on my tracks. I have an HP Pavilion dv7-6c95dx with an i7-2670QM processor running windows 7 home premium. How do I disable it from somewhere else besides the control panel, because it suggests the mic is disabled already? will I need a different laptop to run the software?

Did you solve this problem because I have EXACTLY the same one. I am running Samplitude Music Studio 2013 on Windows 7 Home Premium on a Pavillion D6. I have high quality external mike input ruined becaus the on-board condenser mike will not disable, even though I disabled the "Integrated microphone array" as recommended. Is it because some software or other device driver keeps it active? Samplitude has no disable function for input devices and it makes no difference if you run WDM, MME or ASIO device drivers.
I did have to replace the computer screen once. Possible glitch? I hear DELL stopped ptting built-in mikes into their laptops!
Any advice/help deeply appreciated! -

My MacBook randomly shuts off even when plugged in
I hope someone can help me. My MacBook Pro is not even close to 1 year old and it randomly shuts down completely about twice a day. My battery is stated as in "normal" when looking in the system profiler so I don't think it's the battery, but what other power options could I be having?
I hope there are some Apple gurus that can help me. I am calling Apple tomorrow to see where I can get this fixed, but I don't want the repair guy to say he fixed something when he really didn't. This is my work machine and I would appreciate any help anyone can give me. Not having my MacBook Pro for 1 day is a major killer for me.

JeremyOh, well, if you are so brave as to look at the logs, then this will help: from Applications > Utilities > Console.app, double click Console and run that.
Talk about having way too much fun and information: I like to look around in there, it is very intuitive. The diagnostic Reports; oh my! But the coolest is to peer into FILES > /private/var/log > fsck_hfs.log, and see what is ailing, lately. The logs come up scolled down already to the most current crash yah.
Regarding Adobe Reader: I do not use it. For any file that looks for it I do the "get info" (command and "i" key, or when the file is selected click on File in the menu bar and pull down to "get info"), and then in the "get info" box click on Preview, under "Open with," and yes to "Use this applications to open all documents like this one." I personally prefer Preview for opening .pdf files etc., so I have ditched Adobe Reader, no offense. And I do not have on board any MS Office; prefer NeoWriter: less in the bloatware cpu hogging VM-swapping syndrome imho.
I recently had some System hangs with what turned out to be Adobe Updater (on my Mac Mini, not the MBP). That is a separate app! Click on the magnifying glass at the far right of the top of the screen, and type into the Spotlight search bar "Adobe Updater" ... mouse-over (don't click yet) on a file name that appears under the spotlight search bar and in a couple seconds the Path will display, so you will know where it lives ... I dragged mine off, screaming, (me screaming, not the inert inanimate (who knows though: it is Adobe and MS) files and apps to the trash and emptied them, and never yet (knock on wooden head) have had to rue that moment of assertion of independence ... -
My brand new ipod touch i bought last week is suddenly randomly shutting off. Its fully charged. I havent upgraded to 5 yet because ive read of problems with loosing apps and ive already added many paid apps. I havent backed them up to my pc yet because im a brand new mom and very busy. How hard is to Reset it? A lot less hard than returning it. Just hold down the On/off and Home buttons for atleast 10 seconds until the apple apears and then wait for it to reset. If this doesn't work and you don't want to try restoring it, take it back to Apple.

Is there a way to shut off 3g network and still have the WiFi working?
My Dads going overseas and wants to use his Wifi but dosen't want to be charged using the 3G network.
Because Airplane Mode turns off ALL iPhone radios...ALL. That way, there is no way to accidentally use cellular data. We get posts from users all the time that fail to use Airplane Mode & come home to bills from their carriers in the thousands. Do not rely on that data roaming switch.
