Reset your iPad.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
I recently upgraded to to the iOS 5 on my iMac and iPad
You don't need to manually sync using iOS 5.

  • HT201210 I Phone 5 screen stuck on ITunes/USB Cable Pic while sync/download.

I recently was attempting to Sync and Download IPhone 5 from ITunes. The cord was disconnected too soon, and now phone screen is frozen with the ITunes and USB Cable picture. When reconnected to ITunes, I am being forced to Restore (only option provided). I do not want to restore and lose datat and pictures. It has been several months since the last download and don't want to lose. I have powered off while holding down Home Button, have also removed and replaced the SIM Card. No changes..Suggestions please?

Anything that was on the phone that wasn't backed up is already gone. You have no choice but to restore.

  • Synching gets stuck at step 2 of 7 while backing up, why?

    Hi,
I'm in win7, and my Itunes Synching gets stuck at step 2 of 7 while backing up, why?

    Hi sachi85,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you are not able to back up your iPhone to iTunes for Windows, or connect to the iTunes Store, the symptoms may be related. At this point we may not have enough information to determine that, and we can start with some steps to troubleshoot the symptoms individually.
You can find detailed troubleshooting steps in these articles on the Support site:

Even after I changed phone to iphone 6 and deleted the icloud it is still always stuck at backing up even if I left it overnight. I also got issues connecting to the itune store after upgrading to version 12. Not sure if the both of them are connected. Help needed pls.

  • IPhone 5 stuck at step 7 - won't complete sync

All of a sudden, my ring tones are gone. I rebooted my phone, plugged it into my Macbook Pro (all updates are completed). Quit out of iTunes and re-opened it. Tried to syc ring tones, and phone. But iTunes gets stuck at step 7. It spins for HOURS until I get frustrated and unplug it. I have over 5GB still available.
    This is SO frustrating!
I've seen that lots of people have this problem, but haven't found any solution. Hope you have one before I throw both of them out the window and buy a PC! (just kidding)
    MANYthanks-

This whole thing is an absolute nightmare! My ipod (touch-5) hasn't updated properly in months. Finally went to the Apple store and was told this is a very common problem. The tech person helping me said she really struggles trying to get her iphone 6 to update itunes. She said the only thing that works for her is to uninstall itunes. I did that. Took hours. Then spent a few hours making sure everything in the itunes library was perfect for syncing and added the new things I wanted to sync. I figured I'd only get one good sync out of this process. FAILED! Hung for hours at Step 7 of 7 ('waiting for changes to be applied) AND, as always, no changes were applied.
Tech said they keep letting Apple know they need to fix itunes, but nothing happens. So very frustrated. And, so much money wasted on an expensive ipod (won't have an iphone ever again).
What's better for listening to podcasts and music?

  • Both my Mac and my PC are stuck in step 2 of iTunes Match sync.

    Hello,
I have spent a week on this.  Since last itunes update, 11.2.2, I am only able to do an itunes match intermittently on both my Mac, and my PC.  Prior,  I have had no real issues since Apple started itunes Match.
I have blown out my library, started over, redownloaded everthing from itunes Match and had that sync.  And then when I wanted to add additional music from that point, all subsequent matches get either stuck in Step 2 with some version of "matching 15654 of 15658 songs checked" on the latest.  I first tried it with my Mac multiple times, and then tried it with my PC with the same results.  I have tried sudo purge, booting in safe mode, logging in, out, in, out, etc., updating Genius, and changing operating systems.  If I could go back one version of itunes, I would do it.  I suspect it is an update issue.
I would appreciate any input.  I have wasted far too much time on this function that I am paying.
    Regards,
    BSD25

This should fix it (hopefully you'll only have to do steps 1 and 2). FYI: 3231 is a general error code that doesn't indicate anything specific, but it could be caused by connection issues.
    1. If you are using wireless networking, try connecting directly to your modem with a cable. Connections to the iTunes servers are a bit on the sensitive side and the occasional glitch can throw off matching if it has a lot of work to do. I have a "perfect" setup so I initially dismissed that as a solution (or part of one), but it does make a difference. Once it's working correctly you can switch back to a wireless connection and it should be fine from there.
    2. In iTunes, hold down the Option key (or the Shift key if you're using Windows) while you click Store, Turn Off iTunes Match. Hold down the same key again and close iTunes. Since there may be some things cached, restart your computer. Open iTunes and Turn On iTunes Match again.
    3. If Match does not complete, try a couple more times just to be sure. Note that Match completing doesn't mean everything is done - some changes trickle back over time, but it should report success.
    4. If you still have problems, you can do a complete reset by contacting Apple's iTunes Store team and ask them to cancel your Match subscription and refund it so that you can purchase and start Match again from scratch. Wait until your iTunes account shows the credit before doing this (just to be sure the entire cancellation process on the Apple side has completed).

  • Sync between phone and PC gets stuck on step 2 and won't sync calendars.

ever since I got my new 5c iPhone I can't get it to sync all the way with my PC iTunes.  It worked fine with the iPhone 4.  What am I doing wrong?  It gets to step 2 syncing calendars and stays there for hours so I know it's just spinning its wheels.  Anyone out there who can help, it would be much appreciated!  I'm not real tech savvy as you can see.

I have same problem--just since I updated ios yesterday...likely related to problem?

  • IPad get stucks on Step 2 (Back up) of sync

Hey guys, I have an iPad 2 and every time I've tried to sync this morning, it's gotten stuck on the Back Up portion of my sync. I've tried deleting previous back ups under Preferences<Devices. I've also tried restarting the computer/iPad... Things just aren't working out. Anyone have this problem before?
I'm running iTunes 10.7 and was able to already successfully sync this iPad on 10.7 previously. For some reason, it's just not working today. Also, I'm running 10.8.2 on my iMac.

I am having the exact same problem, same MacOS version.  iPad 3 w/ iOS 6.  Had this same problem a few days ago, I restored my iPad and it worked for a few days and then it happened again today.  VERY frustrating as I obviously cannot transfer anything to my iPad.

  • Leopard Mail is stuck in an infinte loop, crashing, while syncing over IMAP

I'm trying to setup an IMAP account on Mail in Leopard.
Didn't realise it was going to be so painful
I set up the basic IMAP account OK, and can send and receive emails.
Now I'm trying to copy over my existing mailboxes so that they're on the IMAP server.
I'm carefully moving about 50 messages at a time from a folder 'On my Mac' into an IMAP folder.
One of the messages was 10MB in size, and I realised this wasn't a great idea. So during the upload, I clicked the little 'cancel' X in the progress bar.
That seemed to work OK, and I carried on for 10 min or so, but now Mail is suddenly caught in an infinite loop.
I get repeated warning messages saying:
"Some actions were taken while the account was offline could not be completed". It seems to be still trying to copy the 10MB email message, and I get more and more copies of that message appearing in a temporary local folder. Then Mail just crashes.
Each time I open mail, it's the same, thing. A few warning messages, then crash. So I'm stuck in an infinite loop.
Be warned people: IMAP over Mail is still pretty buggy.

This forum is for troubleshooting Mail under Mac OS 10.4 Tiger, not Leopard. You'll probably want to post your question in the Leopard Mail discussions:

  • IPhone sync using iTunes gets stuck on step 3 of 7 syncing calendars

I am getting stuck on step 3 of 7 when syncing my iPhone 4 using iTunes. I have had this happen before with iOS5 but it seemed to sort itself out after I deleted the backup from iTunes 10 > Preferences > Devices > iPhone backup and synced again a couple of times. I recently installed iOS6 and the sync problem has come up again. Apps and contacts seem to backup fine. I have tried deleting the backup and a reset (by holding the sleep & home buttons down) but I still don't seem to be able to get past step 3 of 7 sycning calendars. I noticed that a few users seem to have this problem from time to time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had it hanging on Calendar sync as well ...
    This worked for me:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627
I also had crazy dupes of calendar items previously except on my iphone, so the idea was to get the singular calendar of events synced back to my computer. So ...
I made sure Calendar was empty on my computer: ~/Library/Calendars/
    Cleared out. Emptied Trash.
Then per above link, cleared sync services from terminal:
    /System/Library/Frameworks/SyncServices.framework/Versions/A/Resources/resetsync .pl full
Plugged in iPhone, set my prefs again, sync'ed. Went thru the sync quickly and got everything back to normal with only single events.
The key here (on dupes) is to have at least ONE version of your calendar in good shape. And that may be thru your iphone backups.
(sorry I know I switched thread topics, but sync and dupes seem to go hand in hand)
    Hope this helps.

I really don't appreciate the fact that no one from Apple seems to be dealing with the many, many threads that have started on this topic since iOS 7 came out. In any event, I seem to have solved my problem with a full software restoration -- that is, iOS software restoration.
I clicked on "Restore iPhone..." which does a complete reinstall of the iOS but also all apps, photos, songs, etc. Took about 45 minutes, but seems to have worked.
I had previously tried reverting to a backup of my iPhone, but that did not solve the problem. Only a full restore solved it.
