My phone is barred but by who and why ??

started just over 24 hrs ago, went to use phone silly little icon on bar signal top left hand side. So checked on line, said that there was a mast in my postcode area down...ok... So went to local o2 shop, had it looked at said no nothing to do with Mast, its faulty, tried sims its faulty..cam home, chatted to guro online, said its not faulty its the mast...............now perplexed....been using it 13 months trouble free Ok so next morning, still no signal cant txt or rings or incoming .......so go into o2 shop again, ask if anyone else has a problem locally as my hubby, father in law, son  and friends in the same postcode, have no problems just me....so they delve deeper, had my phone from new, pay as you go, in credit and just topped up on the 17th, why oh why the clanger wait for it, it has a bar on it?????hmm now Im getting stressed, headache in a busy shop, so the chap helping, rings up somewhere explains,  then ask a few questions via me, then get the clear to say they will lift the bar, as there is no reason or code I guess reading on other posts, its not reported stolen or lost,  I have had it from new in a sealed box, so why oh why i am having this to deal with I do not know. Just had a chat with another Guro online, I want answers....told it could take up to 24 hrs, I guess for someone to flip a switch,I want to know why my phone is barred,been with o2 for donkeys years is it human error wrong digit put in the system...told to ring 08448471420 they will lift the bar, but I dont want to ring this number costs too much with tiscali.but I was told today in the shop it was lifted wait and turn my phone on and off, ok its not 24 hrs yet but I need my phone yesterday, my sons school if they need to get me in an emergency they cant now ....this is really annoying now....why me.............

    Have you done a restore of the phone to see if that fixed the problem with the speaker? If that doesnt help then you probably damaged something inside the phone when you dropped it.
    If you're annoyed by the problem, you can always get a replacement phone

  • Why does my iPhone 4 not charge correctly?  Problem is definitely with the phone and not charges or chords.  Phone will charge but very slowly and no icon comes on.  Computer and iTunes doesn't recognize it a being connected.

    My iPhone 4 quit charging correctly.  It does charge but very slowly and icon doesn't indicate it as charging.  I've checked cables and charges and the problem is definetily with the phone.  My car stereo no longer recognizes it as a device.  Neither does the computer.  The real strange thing to me is that when I plug it into my old klispch speaker dock it will play songs.  My battery life is good when it is charged so I don't think its the battery. I've tried resetting the phone and cleaning the charging port.  I'm out of warranty.
    Would disconnecting the battery possibly reset it from some glitch or is the charging port got some bad contacts?

    I checked with the Genius Bar.  It was a new dilema to the lady that was helping me.  She took it to a back room and worked on it but it came out the same.  She gave me some options for repair or credit for replacement.
    I just kept the phone and put up with slowly charging it by plugging it in and then turning it off.
    I couldn't transfer anything from itunes.
    I finally got fed up and bought a new charging port for $10. and a toolkit for $3.  I looked up a video on youTube for the replacement and did it.
    That solved all the problems, it was the charging port, must have been some bad pins or something because it patially worked.

  • Wifi has full bars but only connects and works right next to router

    My iPhone 5 can see wifi networks at full strength but says "unable to join" unless I am standing right next to router.  Than phone can connect and works fine.  This happens not only at my home but at all wifi locations so it is not a network issue (plus the iPad, laptop and wife's phone connect just fine).  In hopes it was a software issues I have done the normal reset network and forget network tricks.  That did not fix it.  I even did full factory restore and that did not fix it.  So I think it is a hardware issue.  I read some forums and it looked like the problem might be a faulty wifi antenna.  Last night I took the phone apart and replaced that.  Still same problem exists.  I can see the wifi networks but only join and use when I am standing within 5 feet or so of router.  When I had the phone apart all connections and solders looked okay.
    Does anyone have other ideas on what could be wrong and how to fix it.
    I am eligible for upgrade but wanted to wait for second generation 6.  So if there is an inexpensive fix I'm willing to try but anything that costs to much I'll just upgrade instead or live with it until sept.

    My DreamWeaver CC-whether at work or home, on Mac or PC, in Code, Split or Design and with or without "Live" engaged can, when working with the same .htm or .cfm source code file linked to a given set of .js and/or .css files without predictability "choose" to display the "dependent files bar" (or not.)  This can change several times in a session.
    It is not a case of the bar being there when the files are sourced and/or referenced and not there when they are not sourced or referenced. 
    Nor is it a case of the bar being there when you first open the file, then disappearing when you engage or disengage the "live" button (though occasionally and without any apparent dependent factors, the "Live" button will toggle the bar, but this behavior is not consistent from session to session on a given file.)
    It is apparently without any user dependence and would seem to be a software bug if there is no key combination or menu option to toggle it.

    After using the new Firefox 4 for just a few days, I've noticed that my Add-on Bar items (mail notifier and weather bar) are jutted down below the actual visible display area they should be, so I can see half of the icons. This is not a priority issue, but it is still an issue, and it bothers me. I've already tried uninstalling then reinstalling Firefox 4, I've already tried removing then reinstalling the add-ons themselves, and I've also tried just hiding then showing the Add-on Bar but still nothing is changed. This problem only occurs when I use themes for Firefox 4 other than the default theme. The attached photo is a screenshot of my Add-on Bar so you hopefully won't think I'm crazy.

    I've figured this out. Apparently, there is a graphical bug in FF4 when the "Show: Icons and Text" option under customizing the toolbar is enabled, and the Downloads icon is in the Add-on Bar, the Downloads icon remains centered, but the other items in the Add-on Bar are pushed under the display area of the Add-on Bar. If the setting is reverted back to just icons or just text shown, or if the Downloads icon is removed from the Add-on Bar, this is fixed. A simple line of code could fix this coincidental error, but as I said before, it's not a priority issue. As always, I can just click Ctrl+J to show my current downloads. I just tried to have this icon in the newly named Add-on Bar to replicate my old-fashioned Firefox 3.6 interface, but I guess that's unreasonable for Mozilla...

  • New phone does everything but sync iCal and Address Book

    I have Leopard on my MacBook Pro; my new iPhone works fine - except for sync of iCal and Address Book. iTunes behaves as if it is syncing; but then there is nothing on the phone.
    I've scanned the other sync-related messages, and nothing suggested there has helped (restarting both devices; clearing the iSync cache; etc.). I called Apple, and a nice young man walked me through many possibilities, ultimately suggesting I archive & reinstall Leopard. (He assured me it was like starting from scratch, and I'd have to reinstall my apps; of course that is not the case.) I did that; it didn't help.
    Sync does work with a new user I created; but I can't figure out how to get my iCal and Address Book files over there.
    Any suggestions appreciated!

    Sorry, missed it in the previous post.
    Couple of more items.
    Export all contacts from address book. vcards would work.
    Delete all contacts from address book.
    Quit out of address book.
    Open finder and go to your home directory/library/preferences.
    Drag the com.apple.AddressBook.plist file to your desktop.
    Open isync preferences and reset sync history.
    Open address book back up and enter a test contact into address book.
    Connect the iphone to the computer and try just syncing contacts replacing contacts on iphone.
    If this works, import all your contacts back into address book and sync back to iphone.
    Hope this helps.

    Just realized that my phone will not sync with itunes either and it does sync to iphoto.

  • Spotlight is indexing but what? And why does it want access to the web?

    I can see Spotlight is indexing, it spends several hours a day doing this, every day.
    Where can i find more details like previous OS X versions? Which drive, how much time left etc.
    Console was no help, any suggestions welcome.
    Also, with "Spotlight Suggestions" and "Bing Web Searches" disabled in the Spotlight Search Results references, why is the process "Spotlight Web Content" still trying to access the web several times a day? I am not using Spotlight when this happens nor am i trying to preview any files that have web content in them. Most commonly it tries to connect to static.amazon.com on the http port.

    In System Preferences > Spotlight > Search Results, if you have "Bookmarks and History" checked, then the "Spotlight Web Content" background process will crawl any web page that you recently visited to index its keywords. Uncheck that to turn it off.

    I haven't gotten a new sim card because the problem has been presenting itself in various cards not only mine. So far, all I've done is reset my network settings.
    Last night, I turned off the 3G tab and it had all the signal bars. Today, I did the network reset and it's working apparently. But like I said before, previously the bars just disappear and the iphone only has the 3G activated.

    Yes, I filed police report, but there is nothing they can do until I get back to them on the tracking. It's been offline. I'm sure the whoever took it can find a way around breaking in the ipad..i really was hoping to get my pictures and videos of my kids back

    first of all the iphone 4 is not a 4G phone
    second it sounds like your iphone could be locked to another operator then the sim you have inserted

    I too was having the same problem However, I could access both the menu bar and the dock by hovering my mouse over them so it wasn't a huge problem but I prefered having it there anyway. I was not in full screen mode and I could still go into full screen mode if I wanted to.  I found the easiest solution was to just quit safai and restart it, but it might not work for you considering you couldn't access you menu bar either way.
    I found this article that allows you to hide/show the menu bar and the dock through TextEdit (didn't work for me) http://www.mactricksandtips.com/2009/07/hide-the-menubar-or-dock-in-specific-app s.html It is pretty old so it might not work for lion and a bit risky if you don't know what you're doing so I wouldn't really recommend doing it this way.
    And KSheppard, I know it's not really any of my buisness, but the way to get answers to a question isn't by insulting others and being quick-tempered.
