My phone is Blacked out

I have a iphone 4 and my phone wont turn on , it wont charge , wont reset and when put into the computer it shows no sign of even being connected. It seems as if it has no life . Is there anything i can do ?

Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.

Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.

Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.

Been having problem with iphone 4 s blacking out. I was late to work several days cause my alarm clock did not go off. once it goes black it is really hard getting it back on. luckily it has always come back on so far. any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing power issues with your iPhone 4s. To completely isolate the issue, you may want to follow these steps:

Phone Screen Blacking Out

I updated to 2.0 and for some reason occasionally i will try to use the phone, and the screen is dead.... solid black. Touching it doesn't work, holding down the power button doesn't work... it's just locked up on a black screen. I know it is functioning because if i switch the ringer, it vibrates... so i know the phone is not dead, but it acts like it is off... no response at all.
It just happens randomly. I even had a friend call me when it was doing it and the phone rang, but never lit up... i tried to 'pretend' i was sliding the answer bar, and even pressed the home button, but nothing happened... it just kept ringing.
It does seem to fix itself eventually, but it's happening daily. I even rebooted it, re-synced it... but no luck
any ideas?

I have the same exact problem and it occurs very randomly. For example, it may occur while I am in the Mail application or even on the Home screen. I have also tried to restore with no success related to the black screen. It would be great to get some resolution on this topic.

Screen blacking out and freezing when phone is charging

I have noticed sometimes my phone is blacking out and the only way to get the screen to come back up is to remove my battery. It happens about 2 or 3 times a day. Also, when charging my phone I will press an app or phone number and it goes to a completely different app or contact. Does anyone know how to fix this?

ive had an issue similar to this. my music worked for about a month then kept freezing on me. it wouldnt go back to the main screen or anything in the music player the screen just went black and my phone completely froze. however a hard reset worked for me. when you have an issue like this that can be resolved any other way this fixes it however i would use it as a last resort as a factory direct reset erases everything even backed up information on your sd card because everything is reset to the way when you first bought it out of the store. if you think this will work for you here is the quickest and easiet way i have found to do it:
turn droid 2 off
open keyboard and press x while holding the power button
device will power on
keep holding until a yello triangle appears
press the magnifying glass on your keyboard
use the volume button to select wipe data/ factory reset
use camera key to confirm
tap wipe data/factory reset
then ok
highlight reboot system now
then ok

IOS 7.0.2 freezes,blacks out and becomes unresponsive on my iPhone 5. I have to use the home and power key reset function to recover it. Is there a fix?

I have had noting but trouble from the latest update. My phone has already froze and blacked out 8 times in the last day or two.

I restarted my phone as suggested and it is still happening.
My phone just blacks out at its own will as if the battery went dead then the apple logo appears and it restarts on it's own but my battery was still at 30% when it restarted. So that made no sense. When I try to type in my password it freezes up before I can get all of the characters in. I still hear the clicks of my tapping on the keyboard but nothing is changing on the screen. When I hit the enter button on accident it vibrated to tell me my password was incorrect but still the screen was frozen with my previous entry of the first 5 characters on the screen.
I am becoming concerned that I may have a very expensive paperweight now.
My husband has the same phone and his is working fine after the initial reboot.

If this problem occurs while calling then please do the following
Hold your phone in the hand and try calling to your home no(dont take it near to your ear)
Iphone should not blacks out (if it works as per this step)
let your home phone keeps ringing and now lift your phone near to your ear
now you should see your phone should blacks out
now again bring down your phone it should show the call screen (it should not blacks out) if this is happening then your phone is good
if this is not the case then take to Apple store

I have to believe this has something to do with iOS 7 issues. I have taken my screen blacked out 5s twice to the Genius Bar and the found a bunch of system apps had crashed. So if this is the case, is iOS7 the problem?

Honestly it sounds like you purchased a no-contract phone and not an unlocked phone.
Without the receipt it is impossible to say what was really purchased. Contact Apple to get a copy of the receipt. If you did infact purchase an unlocked iPhone, then they will resolve it.
What model iPhone do you actually have? Paying $700 for and iPhone 4 would have meant it was purchased approximately 2yrs ago. Also, there is no 35gb model.
If it is the iPhone 5, the unlocked version was not available at launch but rather released (online only) on November 30th. Later it was available in store.

I think I am following -- I was able to upload to my iPhoto and all photos and videos are there that is a plus! I tried to create an Event in my iPhoto and put all of my photos in that event but for some reason, now my iTunes it not recognizing that Event in my iPhoto. It is not allowing me to import just that event at the moment but I may be doing something wrong. At least all of my pics and vids are in iPhoto so that is a plus and I know they are at least saved somewhere. Just for some reason, my iTunes it not locating the event that I created with only those photos.

Also, I had no clue that my iCloud could be backed up via cellular data! However, is this a new feature with the most updated iOS?? Unforutnatly I am like 2 iOS updates behind because I don't have enough storage on my phone. I still get the notification that my phone needs to be plugged in and connected to wifi in order to back up to the cloud :-(

Wow- thanks Jim! I removed the case and voila... it worked. Knock on wood that you solved my problem with such an incredibly simple solution. I'll find out where this proximity sensor is and make sure my case does not interfere with it.

It sounds like a problem with the phone itself. You may have to take it to your nearest service point you can find this out by phonin the nokia helpline or club nokia if you are a member.
