My phone is blocked on black screen

Hi,
i just got an Iphone 4, 2 weeks ago, and i had some issues at the beginning, the iphone won't turn on, and didn't want to charge... after a full charge it worked ok.
but few days later i had a black screen on my mobile, i thought it was turned off, but i tried to call myself, and it was ringing (on the line, not the Iphone), so i thought it was sort of a screensaver or something, i went to apple store Barcelona, and after checking it for about 5s, they gave a new one...
i then came back home, and restore my new Iphone... with apps on itunes that i bought.
few days later, i woke up at 9.30 am (supposed to be awake at 8.00am), and found my mobile on black screen, and my alarm didn't rang...
i found some guys on internet who the same issues, but with no permanent fix... only the home and switch on button for 15 s, and it doesn't work the first time for me, always the 2nd time.
and when it turns on again, i dont have to put any passwords, and all my apps are still working like nothing happenned...
i have the version 4.3.2, and i didn't jailbreak it.
i hope it s just a software issue, and that Apple will release an update soon, or exchange my device for an Iphone 5

Hold the screen lock button and the home screen button together for a while and the phone will restart, hopefully fixing the problem, make sure you press the screen lock button before the home screen button tho, otherwise you will just take a screenshot.
(EDIT) Also, ignore it when it brings up the slide to turn phone off slider (thats if it appears) and just keep holding, if your phone doesn't bring that up just keep holding until the phone restarts. Also sometimes the phone won't always turn back on by itself, in which case, do it yourself

Phone got wet, now black screen

Last week my wife's BB went for a ride in the Washer/Dryer, so it's spent the last 5 days tucked in a bed of rice with its innards pulled out.
Today I put power to it and the keypad lights up, and the LED flashes but the screen stays black. I've tried the battery remove hard reboot a few times... not even a flicker.
The phone can make and receive calls, and can receive emails and texts (just can't see them).
Is there anything else I can try? If I bring it in can the screen be replaced or is the cost the same as a new phone? - the phone is less than a month old.

I doubt Rogers will be able to fix it. Worth a try though. Even if they can fix it, it most likely will cost too much.

How do I get my phone off the update black screen when it powers on

I tried to do the recent update and when my phone powers on it freezes at this Apple screen with a loading bar,, Its been that way for a few hours

1: Connect the device to Your computer and open iTunes.

HT201210 I did the update on my phone and now it just keeps restarting itself over and over again. It will come up with the black screen and apple sign and shut off and bring that up again. What do I do?

First I did the update under general like I do every couple months. My phone came up with a screen, at the end of the update, that had a picture of the itunes icon and a picture of the iphone cord like I was supposed to connect to itunes. I did and itunes said that my phone needed to be "restored" to be reusable again, and the only option it gave me was to click the restore button. So I did and it went through a 30 minute restore session. Now my phone just shows the black screen with the apple icon and restarts over and over again. Clicking the buttons does nothing. It has been doing this for hours now. What do I do?

The screen is telling you to connect the iPod to your computer and restore via iTunes.

Phone was given to me by apple 2 weeks ago. Last I saw of it working was phone was off so i did the quick reset. Apple logo came up, it started up and keypad for passcode came up. It said 2% battery then went up to 64% a second later. When I was playing wth it not 5mins before it was at 65% so would make sence that later indication was correct. Before I could type the 4 digit passcode in the phone turned off to black screen. Now I have tried all possible reset options incuding the 10 second hold down of both buttons for less than 10 seconds and longer than 10 seconds. Nothing is working. iTunes is not recognising the device at all. Ive had it plugged into a wall socket for three hours and the computer for 2 hours and no signal of life. Ive tried the forums on here and the youtube vidoes and seem to know what im doing with resets. Anyone able to shed some light?

Not being able to get DFU Mode indicates hardware failure. Since you recently received this iPhone from Apple it has at a minimum 90 day Warranty. Make Genius reservation or make service arrangements and take or send to Apple for resolution. Regarding what is actually wrong with the iPhone, it could be possibility of several things. But some of the features point directly to battery. First step in fixing this iPhone would be battery replacement. Then trouble-shooting from there if still problem. Take it to Apple.

Black Screen, loading icon

Hi, before all excuse if my english level is not good (I´m spanish).
I´ve a big problem with my iPhone 4 since yesterday.
It crashed the springboard, so the screen got black but it continued working because I could phone myself fron another phone.
Then, I opened iCloud web to see what could I do, and clicked in "find my phone", like if it were stolen. I clicked in "make it ring", it made a noisy ring and after that I tried clicking in "erase all", thinking if doing that I could stop watching the black screen.
The screen lighted on, finally I could see the Apple logo and after that the screen got black again but with a little loading icon, like a white wheel.
It´s in black screen since yesterday and with the white wheel icon.
I have tried pushing home and sleep button, but it does`t work to enter DFU mode. Also tried connecting to my computer, but iTunes doesn't detect the iPhone.
At the moment of writing this, the phone is still in black screen with the loading icon. I think it´s this way since 7 hours mores or less.
Any solution? Please.

Black Screen, unable to come out of recovery mode, will not restore. Uhh...

Okay. So my phone has a completely black screen, and will not turn on or off. When I connect it to iTunes, it says it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode, and it must be restored. I attempt to restore it, and it goes through the entire restoration process (all the while with a totally black screen), and a window pops up that says that it was successfully restored, and to leave it plugged in, this message will close in 3,2,1.... and as soon as the window disappears, the process starts all over, with iTunes exclaiming that it noticed an iPhone in recovery mode, would I like to restore it?
I've tried basically everything there is to try, about eighteen thousand times a piece. This is really the worst possible time for my phone to break down, as I'm in the middle of a really important internship (which necessitates use of my phone), and I can't really get to an apple store.

Did you check your security software settings, to allow iTunes to contact Apple during the process?

Iphone is stuck on a black screen that says to connect it to itunes

I wanted to update the ios on my iphone yesterday- biggest mistake ever. FOr hours it was stuck with the word searching on the top lest hand were the carrier name should be. At night I finally got the time to connect the **** phone to wifi and tried to update the idiot software again while the phone was charging. Woke up and the phone was on a black screen that asked me to connect the phone to itunes, so i did. Now it tells me to update it through itunes or it will restore the phone to factory settings which is something that I absolutely can not do because itunes has not let me back up my phone for over more that half a year.

Your iPhone is in recovery mode and any data that was not backed up is already gone. You have no choice but to restore the phone and restore from your last backup.

anybody out there got the same problem? since my 3GS been updated to 4.2.1 now its dead. black screen. still works in itune and incoming call, i just can´t see anything on the display.

I have been encountering issues with the update as well on my 3GS. When I go to save a new contact, my phone freezes. Sometimes holding down the lock/off button and restarting the phone suffices. Just an hour or so ago, my phone froze with the black screen, then there was the "glare" screen in which it was black but I could see a glare/hue of light being given off. Then I had the black screen with the white pinwheel/engine, but it was not spinning. I held down the lock/off and HOME buttons simultaneously, and the gray/white Apple icon came on the screen. It seems to be doing fine now, but you should try the other suggestions suggested by the first respondent.

Back up and restore your software via iTunes. If the problem continues, restore as a NEW device. If this solves it, that means there is some corruption in your backup file, or maybe it's one of your apps causing the trouble. If the problem is still there, you should take it to the Genius Bar at an Apple Store for evaluation.
For the charging problem:
Inspect the charging port area for dirt/debris/fluff build-up that may be preventing a good connection and use a wooden toothpick, soft clean toothbrush, or a can of compressed air to clean it. Also look for bent or broken pins. Try another cable and/or charger block (be sure to always use a genuine Apple certified brand) in a known good outlet. If you're using a USB port, try another port. If you're using a hub, try a direct connection. If you're using a USB port in the front of a desktop computer, try one in the back. If all these fail, make an appointment at your nearest Genius Bar to have the device evaluated.

Pavilion Dv5-1009el - Black screen and blink caps lock and block scorr

Hi,
I just replaced the motherboard of my pavilion that reported an error as object. The purchased motherboard is new and hp original.
After having changed, I turn on the pc and work fine, i see the hp logo and enter to bios, after I turned off the pc without starting windows.
I inserted the battery and powered on the pc and returns to the old error, the LED of caps lock and block Lock blinks...
So I tried to update the bios from USB using winkey + B. The computer emits two beeps but does not read from any USB port and the LEDs go out for a while and then blink again.
What can I do?

I understand you are getting a blink pattern on the Caps lock LED, when you turn on the notebook. I am happy to help you with this.
I am including the page on the error codes for your reference: Blank Screen LED Error Codes
From that document the pattern you are getting indicates a memory problem. You said that you have tested the memory. What exactly did you try?
The document suggests reseating the RAM or trying a new set of RAM and then restarting the notebook. If you are still getting a memory problem after trying both of those things, ie a 3 blink code again, then it would likely suggest that there is a problem with the motherboard itself, either with the memory slot or one of the controllers related to memory.
In that case I would suggest contacting the technical phone support number at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.

If however reseating the memory or replacing it leads to a different error code or message please let me know, Although in that case the following may be helpful if you still have a blank screen.

I can see if we can get your phone back on! I understand how important it is to have a phone. Have you tried this to see if we can get it back on? http://vz.to/1DZhteH . If it is still goes to a red Verizon screen and then to black we might need to do a master reset.
