My phone is jammed after trying to update
I started my IPHone update last night. As of this morning it is not complete and jammed. How do I unjam it?
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

With your phone plugged in, open Image Capture and see if the iPhone shows up. If not, you are having a sync problem. If it shows up in Image Capture, but not iTunes, I'd delete iTunes and reinstall it.

Try DFU Mode Restore. Open iTunes on computer. Connect iPhone to computer with USB cable. Hold both Home and Power button, after exactly 10 seconds release the Power Button, keep holding the Home button until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode, usually about 20 seconds time.

Try this - download a program called rec boot. follow the instructions to kick it out of recovery mode. and does itunes recognise
or hold the power and home button together until you see a "connect to itunes" pic on the screen

I had deleted my Apps Icon from the phone as I was trying to update the new version iOS4.3.
However, after deleteing the Icon, I am not able to install the Apps Messenger again because I am not able to use the IOS.4.3 diagnostic password sent via email.

MichaelThat situation went from inconvenient to complicated quickly. Wait for any pending orders to drop off, wait for things to clear up, wait till your upgrade comes up and then upgrade when your contract is fulfilled. I would have suggested a replacement phone, I know, with only a month left why couldn't you just upgrade early, but these situations where people try to upgrade early always end horribly and once a phone order starts, it almost cannot finish until something winds up shipped received and returned. Sorry this happened the way it did. Definitely not efficient.

s anyone else experiencing trouble turning thier phone on after trying to update to the ios 6.0.1? I cannot access my phone at all...Sounds like their was some corruption that occured during the update. Have you tried connecting it to iTunes in recovery mode and restoring it from backup (or to factory settings if from a backup fails)? Use the instructions in this article to walk you through placing your device in recovery mode.

Error 1004, 1013, 1638, 3014, 3194: These errors may be the result of the connection to gs.apple.com being redirected or blocked. Follow these steps to resolve these errors:
Install the latest version of iTunes.
Check security software and ensure that communication to gs.apple.com is allowed. Follow these stepsfor assistance with security software.
Check the hosts file. The restore will fail if there is an active entry to redirect gs.apple.com. Follow theadvanced iTunes Store troubleshooting steps to edit the hosts file or revert to a default hosts file. See "Blocked by configuration: (Mac OS X/Windows) > Rebuild network information."
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.
If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.

Iphone is stuck in recovery mode and cannot restore after trying to update to iOS6 - not jailbroken
I have an iphone4s, and the question basically says it all - after trying to update to ios6, the udgrade downloaded to my computer and started loading onto my phone. However it sudeenly just stopped an turned into the balck screen asking to plug into itunes. When I do this, it says I have to restore the phone, but when I try to restore, it says there is an error (3014).
I have tried:
- pressing the home and top buttons unti the apple appears
- Checked all security software and the ports aren't blocked
- Have tried pressing option+restore to choose ios6 and ios5.1.1 - neither has worked
- Its been like this for about a day and a half now, and I have probably tried to restore it at least 50 times to no avail, always with the same error code.
What can I do??
Is this something to do with how busy the appl servers are? And when should I expect to be able to use my phone again?Yeah same exact problem as me. EXACTLY. In a way I'm glad more than just me are having the problem so I know it's probably not on my end and on the apple side....I HOPE that is what it is.

I really think it's the apple servers because it errors 3014 right when iTunes says "verifying phone....." something.... It goes away so fast I can't read the rest, but I think that is the step where it verifies phone to the apple servers, which are overloaded, I assume.
It's gotta be that. How many other people are having this same exact issue? -

it went through the extracting software stage but then an error message saying that it encountered problems came up and it didn't restore.

why is my iphone stuck on the connect to iTunes after trying to update it and iTunes is telling me it cannot reach the update server I have also tried the recovery instructions, iTunes wont even connect to the iTunes store and my internet connection is fine
