Hello there,
Firstly, welcome to the site, it's great to have you here, but I see your problem must be frustrating.
Your iPhone may be really low on charge, meaning that it can't turn on, or show anything on the screen. Plug your device in to a power outlet (a wall socket is better than your computer) and leave it. At first, you may see no change on the screen, or no acknolegment that it is charging, but this is normal. Your iPhone may need to charge for up to twenty minutes before you see anything on the screen. Leave your iPhone overnight to do a full charge, and everything should be back to normal.
In the event that your iPhone still does not respond, try plugging it into your computer, and opening iTunes. If iTunes doesn't recognise it, try booting it into recovery mode. To do this, make sure your device is disconnected (but stay by your computer) and hold down both the sleep/wake button on the top, and the home button. Then, after 30 seconds, release the sleep/wake button (continue holding the home button) and plug in your device into your computer. Eventually, iTunes should give you a message, and then allow you to restore your device in iTunes. It should then work as normal.
If this still doesn't work, then it may be a hardware faliure. Take your device to your local Apple Store, and they will talk you through repair and replacement options.

Make a Genius Bar reservation for your nearest Apple store to have the Tech person create a repair order for you. Be sure your phone is backed up to iCloud or iTunes prior to going in.

i updated my 4s yesterday, but my phone will not work at all now, and will not turn off. It has a itunes image on the screen with an arrow underneath and what looks like the charger lead. i've had it on charge! is there anything else i can do?

I have no idea what may have caused your MacBook to stop working, but from your description it kind of sounds like it may have started before you ran Software Update and installed the new Apps. Just the general slow feeling and bugginess is what tips me off. You said that you weren't sure if you had closed all open windows, that doesn't matter if the computer restarts itself. It automatically closes all other open applications when restarting.
As to your data being retrievable, if when you take it in they do a fresh install of the OS, then no, it will not be unless you want to pay several thousand dollars to a software retrieval company.
I am glad to hear that you have taken into the Apple Store to get it fixed, and that you have all of your purchased music backed up to your iPod. You should be able to just transfer it all back to iTunes once you get your computer back should it be necessary.
As a side note, the proper place for this topic would probably in the MacBook forums, not iTunes since there is no evidence that iTunes started the issue. -

Thank you!The iphone warranty is not international. It is based from the original country of purchase. You will need to ship to someone you know in the Canada to bring it to Apple for evaluation. Then that person will have to ship the phone back to you. Shipping and insurance will be at your expense. In the terms of the iphone warranty:

I have just recently installed ios6 to my iPad 3 an iPhone 4 my iPhone works fine but my iPad is not working at all I can not get a response from it, it seemed to download an then install but did not reset and turn on and will not turn on HELP!! Withdrawal or what!! Lol
Hi there,
Firstly, try a hard reset. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until the Apple logo appears.
If this doesn't work, try restoring your device. Put it in recovery mode if iTunes doesn't recognise it, and restore it from there. I have linked to instructions below.

if it play not sound at all then it's likely the hardware issue where the headset detector gets stuck
