It sounds like you may need to set up a different Apple ID for iCloud so that you can keep your contacts, calendars, messages, etc. separate from your husband's.

On his phone, sign in Settings>iCloud and enable Mail so that he can have his own email address. Then add your account in Settings>Mail, Contacts & Calendars and enable Contacts and Calendars. They will then appear on his phone alongside any syncing he has set up. This will keep your emails separate, or you can add Mail as well so that you can both access that if you want. You can add his account in the same way on your phone and enable any data types you want to sync.

Are you running 10.6 Snow Leopard as your profile indicates?
If so, it sounds like maybe an Expose or Active Screen Corners issue?
Go to Apple > System Preferences > Expose & Spaces > Expose and
1. experment with the Active Screen Corners selections
2. take a look at your F key settings for Expose
3. lastly check your Dashboard settings

As long as you share that AppleID for iCloud, you cannot. You are sharing a a single iCloud account and sync services. The only thing you can do is get a second AppleID and use it with iCloud - you do not have to use that new AppleID for anything but iCloud (ie. you can still share an AppleID for iTunes and App store purchases).
P.S. I am assuming you both want to sync your contacts with iCloud?

MMy iPhone was synced with my computer and the cloud. After re syncing, pics and contacts remain in cloud and computer but won't sync to my iPhone. Even my IT guy at work is stumped! I would love to have all my pics and contacts back on my phone. I have not yet updated my iPad d air because I'm afraid the same thing will happen.

Contacts are saved in the contacts database on icloud. If you use a computer's browser and log into icloud.com, look at the contacts page. They should be there. On the new iphone, in Settings>iCloud, if you sign into your account and turn on contacts, they should be synce to the device.
pics are not kept on icloud, they should always be synced to a computer for storage and safekeeping. You sync them either by using USB cable or using photo stream. If you have backup turned on for icloud, then photos in the camera roll "should" be included (if you turned that on for backups), but many users have found that upon performing a restore, the pictures were not synced back.

I would appreciate any suggestions you might have. I did not back up my IPhone4 - stupid on my part. It just quit the other day. It is in a coma. I have tried recharging and rebooting to no avail. My greatest concern are several pictures that I cannot replace. Is their an internal sim card that perhaps could be recovered. I ceaned the fan, the computer shuts down when I hit ENTER after logging in (again, i have a password set)

Iphone broken LCD, need pics and contacts

I have a client with a completely cracked LCD screen and I need to copy off pics and contacts. I thought of using itunes but there is a password on the device and since the screen is cracked it cannot be entered. Is there any free software or 3rd party manager I can download to do this?

If the phone is still able to connect, they will need to do this using the computer they normally sync with. It should not prompt for a passcode on their computer if the passcode was present and has not been changed since the last sync.
There is no way to get around this on a different computer.

Contacts are designed to be synced to a supported application on the computer or a cloud service.
Pictures taken with the device are designed to regularly be copied off the device to a computer as would be done with any digital camera.
If you have failed to use the device as designed it may be too late to recovery anything.
Is the device regularly backed up to a computer via iTunes? If so, the most recent backup (when restored to a replacement iOS device) should contain all contacts and pictures as of when the backup was created.

You can continue to use the current AppleID for iTunes, but your husband can create a new AppleID to use to create a new iCloud account that will be his own and not overlap with yours. If you do not have another email address to use for an AppleID, just get a free Gmail account and use that.
You can have as many AppleIDs as you want (or at least, as many as you have email addresses for). You can use a separate AppleID for the store, another for iCloud, and even another for iMessage if you wish.
You will want to keep the current one as the shared one for the store as all your previous purchases are permanently tied to it, and thus you need that AppleID to update or redownload your current purchased content.

I use an iPhone 5, and want to sync my phone calendar and contacts with Outlook 7 calendar and contacts; two problems--I now get dozens of new calendars every time, and my outlook calendar will not sync at all.; meaning that date entries on Outlook do not come across ot iPhone.

It is unusual for the calendar to sync and not the contacts in Outlook. I've worked with Outlook for years. You didn't answer what computer OS you are using. If it is Windows, have you tried to reset the sync history in iTunes? Do that by opening iTunes, go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and click on reset sync history. If you have done this and it doesn't help, then we can try and run scanpst.exe on your Outlook file and see if there are any errors. Search your computer for that file, however it normally resides in one of the Microsoft Office folders in the folder Program files. After that, you can see if it will sync.
