My phone is stuck on "searching" for network after power down - help!

I uploaded the new 6.0.01 software 2 weeks ago and my phone flipped out so I took it into Apple store and they gave me a new SIM card and the ATT rep told me to power down my phone every week or so.  So I powered the phone down last night and since I turned it on this morning it is stuck on "searching" for network.  I have WIFI in the hoouse so I have email use but no phone or texting.  How do I get my phone back on track and connected to the Netwrok?
Thanks so much!

  • Stuck on searching for network

i have an at&t 4s and its stuck on "Searching" for a network. I've tried everything but removing the sim card. Cant send text or make calls while searching and inputting text is really slow when it switches to searching.

I also would love to know whats going on im having the exact same issues alot matter of fact its goes into search mode quite often sometimes it then goes to NO SERVICE and its def the phone not the carrier, i have to do a full power off to restore service again usually that works..Sometimes the phone is deemed unuseable...ugh so frustrating..

  • Searching for Network / SIM card blocked - help please!!

I have just purchased an 8700c from a reputable eBay seller from whom I have previously purchased other items.
The 8700c was advertised as Unlocked without a SIM card.
I have never owned a Blackberry before and am just getting familiar with it.
When I click icon to 'Turn Wireless On' and press the Phone key then at top of screen displays "Searching for Network".
After a minute or so displays "No Service".
I bought the 8700c because one day my previous mobile phone did exactly the same thing.
After an hour on my landline phone with the phone company they assured me the GSM network was functional in my area and suggested my old phone was faulty.
Not knowing if the phone itself had just died or if fault was with the SIM card I took it to the local branch of the telco.
One of the guys there swapped his SIM card into my phone and had same problem - hence phone faulty.
Thinking about it later I realised that it didn't prove there wasn't also a problem with my SIM card but I thought it unlikely so decided to buy a new phone.
Anyway, received the 8700c yesterday and have inserted my old SIM card, been reading manual, etc.
Whilst learning how to use it I've been asked several times to enter a password.
Assuming this was the PIN/password I had on my old phone to prevent use in case I lost the phone, I entered it and it was accepted without any error/warning.
So I thought I was right in believing the PIN/password was stored on the SIM and not another code, maybe in some EPROM memory in the old phone - I'm not so sure now.
Doing a Google search I've found mention of various PIN/PIN2/PUK/PUK2 codes used in mobile phones which, if not used correctly, can cause the phone to be locked permanently.
Here's current information I've found on the 8700c:
click icon Settings / Options / Status shows
          PIN:      {8 alphanumeric code}
          IMEI:     { 6 digits .00. 6 digits .5}      i.e 15 digits and 3 periods
click icon Settings / Options / Advanced Options / SIM Card shows
          SIM Card: Blocked
          ID:     {20 digit number}
    click icon Phone shows
          My Number: Unknown
click again to see list of items, scroll down to Options
click again to see list of items headed Phone Options
    click on General Options
the 'Show "My Number":' line has value Yes
click icon Settings / Options / Network shows
          Network: * None *
          Network Selection Mode: Automatic
click again to see list of items, scroll to My Preferred Network List
click again to see one item which is GSM network associated with my old phone
So it seems this has been found from the SIM card.
The top left hand side of screen shows 'cingular' but I think I read somewhere that this was just the network for which the 8700c was originally issued and doesn't detemine whether the 8700c is currently locked/unlocked.
Is 'My Number' Unknown because the SIM card is Blocked?
Is the SIM card Blocked because I entered my old PIN password instead of the Settings / Options / Status alphanumeric code PIN or some other PIN?
How can I determine if the 8700c is really unlocked?
Are there some other settings/options or anything else I should do so I can get connected to the network?
Any thoughts would be very welcome.

I am having exactly the same problem mate. Never used a Blackberry - received mine today from eBay (Didn't include a manual) and i have been trying to configure it with no luck. I can't connect to a Network/My SIM Card is blocked/My number is unknown - Even though my SIM works perfectly in my Sony Ericsson. Have no idea what to do. Any help would be appreciated.

Either your phone is broken, or it was jailbroken. You can try a DFU restore.

  • Iphone 5s - Calls Breaking Up - Searching for Network

    Hello.
I recently started using my new Iphone 5s and I have a big problem.
Every call I get or make, the call suddenly breaks up during the first minute. My network reception bar drops to 1 bar, then says "searching..." briefly, and then it comes back. But the call is already gone. There are no problems when I remake the call. But I get this problem with every single call that I make. I've never had a problem with my Iphone 4 for 2 years, so I don't think it's about my carrier. Anyone else experiencing the same problem? Any suggestions?

I have the same problem. My phone keeps "Searching..." for network, and if I don't fix it, it can go on like that for days. I tried several solutions, Reset Network Settings, Reset All Settings, hard reset, and finally I restored my iphone to factory settings then re installed ios 8.1.3, which I had trouble doing because my phone took 4 days to finally have a successful restore. I am not sure if this is about updating to ios 8.1.3, but all of this happened to my iphone 5s a few days after updating. Anyway, after my phone had miraculously went thru with the restore, my phone was back to the way it was, but after 2 days, it went back to searching for network again whenever I get to an area with poor signal. I put phone in Airplane mode for about 10-20 mins, then turn off Airplane mode to check if signal is back. If it still  doesnt, I reset network settings, then airplane mode again. I have not yet used reset all settings since my iPhone restore. I tried to google and see if this really is an ios problem or just my case, then I came across your question. The latest fix I did just this morning is I plugged my phone to my wall charger and tried to dial a number and pressing the green call button several times until the signal went back. That was by far the simplest solution I have discovered, but I still can't say if that IS the solution because it was just my first time to do it. I advise you not to restore your phone because in my case, mine took 4 days to until i was able to use my phone again since restoring wasn't working. You don't want to end up with a dead brick phone. With mine,  I just kept trying until it went thru and I don't think I will be doing the restore all over again because of what happened.  I hope this is just a problem with ios update and that apple will soon find a permanent fix to this.

  • My iphone 3g is keep searching for network, and the carrier unable to load network list , wat shall i do?  Read more: My iphone 3g is keep searching for network, and the carrier unable to load network list

My iphone 3g is keep searching for network, and the carrier unable to load network list , wat shall i do?

Yes, that kind of tallies with my experience ... after 3 days of useless iPhone 3G (BTW, killing 3G on the phone and relying on acquiring AT&T 2G didn't help, it still locked onto T-Mobile with the result that it was draining battery and rebooting frequently!), I ended up visiting the local Apple Store.
Although the visit was not to resolve the iPhone problem, whilst there I happened to cycle the phone and due to the store having a local AT&T cell, the strength of the local signal meant that I finally re-acquired a AT&T 3G signal ... once locked on again the phone was fine for the next day.
Nett outcome of this is that I would prefer to lay most of the blame for this debacle on the poor state of 3G support both by AT&T (and US carriers in general), maybe exacerbated in my case by two related events (the local DNC in Denver, which saturated local AT&T cells including 3G and a proliferation of v2.0.0 and v2.0.1 firmwares on iPhones in town, which dragged cell coverage into the weeds).
It would be nice for future sanity if AT&T and T-Mobile could at least resolve the ability to acquire/release the iPhone gracefully, otherwise I'll be very sceptical of travelling back to the US with only my iPhone, as a self-employeed consultant I can't afford to be out of touch for three days again!

I had this problem when I first had the phone in January which resulted in a new handset. It only seems to happen after my phone gets turned off and/or battery dies and I turn it back on......nightmare!!  O2 weren't a great deal of help last time - took nearly 3 weeks before they agreed to send a new handset.  Thanks for your advice

  • IPad 3 searching for network with no sim and restarting again and again

My iPad 3 is searching for network again and again without any sim. I did a full restore, but no avail. In addition to this, it keeps restarting on its own.
After restoring, it is stuck at the intro page because of continuous restarting
    Please Help.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Rebooting your iDevice
Hold down the Sleep (On-Off) and Home buttons together for about 10-15 seconds or until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears - then let go of the buttons. The device should begin to start up.

    Hello Nazer_502,
I would be concerned too if my iPhone was acting this way.  It sounds like it is overheating and not holding a charge. I recommend following the steps listed below when experiencing an issue like this:
    Battery life seems short
Click ( www.apple.com/batteries/iphone.html) for tips on how to prolong iPhone's battery life.
Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
Connect iPhone to iTunes and restore iPhone.
If the screen shows a low-battery image, the battery is low on power and needs to charge for up to ten minutes before you can use it.
When charging iPhone, make sure to leave it charging until it is fully charged. You'll know the battery is fully charged when the battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen looks like this .
Note: When charging using a computer, don't connect iPhone to a keyboard. Also, the computer must be turned on and not in sleep or standby mode. If iPhone is connected to a computer that's not turned on or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPhone battery may drain.

Hi people, not sure if anybody can help however I have a Blackberry Pearl 9105 and for the past 2 weeks its keeps turning itself off and on and also keeps saying 'searching for network' at random times.  I therefore thought it may require a new battery so brought a new battery - was fine for 5 hrs and then started doing it again!
Any ideas on what it could be please...............it is quite old now and am due an upgrade at the end of August which is so annoying.  Vodafone won't let me upgrade early either.  If no-one knows am going into a vodafone store on Saturday to see of they can test it!
But I'm so lost without it - I have brought a cheap emergency mobile however I miss my blackberry!!
    Thanking you in advance!

    Hey zmblake,
Welcome to the BlackBerry® Support Community Forums.
I would suggest to do a clean reload of the BlackBerry® device software as shown here: http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/KB11320, please test before restoring any data to the device.
If this resolves the issue do a selective restore of essential data (Address Book, Calendar, Task, Memos, BBM contacts etc.)
