I was using it fine, then I put it in my pocket and took it out about 10 minutes later and the screen was black. My friend rang my phone and it rang on hers but nothing happened on my phone. ps my home button doesn't work so i can't hold the home button and lock button down. Nothing happens when I plug it into the laptop as well. Please help me? Is the phone just dead?

I am having this same problem right now. I can not make phone calls. I can receive them. I can send and receive text messages and wi-fi / 3G work great. I sent my phone back to Apple and I've just been informed that they are returning it to me broken because of what they call accidental damage or misuse. My phone has never been dropped or damaged. It does not have a scratch on it. I have only ever downloaded software from the App Store and have never misused it. I started having problems right after I downloaded the latest OS update about a month ago. One day the screen froze up and wouldn't respond, so I had to do a complete reset. After that it wouldn't make calls. So, another 1 or 2 full resets, a 3 hour phone call to ATT and Apple, and FedExing my phone to them, I am now getting a broken phone returned to me and Apple telling me the warranty is void. How convenient for them. Ahhh, that wonderful customer service that they show to their loyal customers.

Try resetting your iPad by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

Well, if you are sure it has a sufficient charge, then hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone should reboot.

You will need to put the phone in recovery mode, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808, you shouldn't loose any data the program will backup your iPhone first before the restore.

Hold the home button and the power button at the same time until the screen goes all black and then hold the power button until you see the apple.
