        Falktr,
That's definitely odd but I understand how frustrating this is, we definitely want to assist you. Is this a Verizon Wireless iPhone? If not, you may experience problems such as this. If it is, please reset the network settings http://vz.to/Q7XEOV. If that doesn't work, please follow these steps http://bit.ly/19vT5qz .

  • HT1311 My phone number shows a different number in the contacts page instead of mine, how do I change it?

My phone number shows a different number in the contacts my number section. How do I change it as I cannot even load airtime

You need to set up the accounts in System Preferences/Accounts, then activate Fast User Switching.
That way you can quickly log in to your own account - then back to his.
You should obviously have different passwords.

  • HT204053 the wrong cell phone number shows up on my ipad

The wrong cell phone number shows up on my ipad when I put in my apple id. I have got to my apple.com and changed my phone number and it still won't change. I have even reset my iPad to correct it and didn't work. UGH! Help!

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Are you referring to messaging, it sounds as though you are sharing your ID with others.

  • HT4528 hi, my iPhone is already completely updated and I want my iMessages to go to my phone number, however my phone number shows up on the settings screen for that, but will not let me select it to be used. How do I fix that?

hi, my iPhone is already completely updated and I want my iMessages to go to my phone number, however my phone number shows up on the settings screen for that, but will not let me select it to be used. How do I fix that?

Thanks to all who responded. You are all absolutely correct. However, this Ipad was a gift to my wife who was dying of cancer in the hospital and wanted some entertainment. So I started it out with her Apple ID. After she passed away I moved from Sacramento to Austin and eventually proceeded to get the Apple ID changed from my wife's to mine. Meanwhile when she was in the hospital I opened an Itunes account in my name to buy movies for her. That was the first mistake.
Then during the move to Austin I lost track of the IPAD and later found it and tried to use support but could not remember the proper ID. Later the folks at the Apple store helped me create a new and novel Apple ID that was unfortunately unlike any other.
The botom line is that I am stuck with three Apple IDs and three passwords. I am told by Apple there is nothing they can do about this as IDs cannot be changed or destroyed. I can quit using them or start a new account but when I try to do that the system keeps remembering too many things from the past and resists.
Even if I sold this Ipad and bought a new one, the system memory is still there.
I think the real problem is that destop and laptop computers are totally owned by an individual and that individual can control logins and passwords to his liking. IPADs and similar Apple products are different in that the corporation has built in their own intrusion detection schemes because of the relation to Itunes.
One thing I thought about is to open a new Itunes account pretendding to be a new customer with my regular Apple ID. Perhaps I could do the same with Apple Support.
    Thanks for your comments.

  • Phone number shows up on phone but not the bill?

some times there is 9999999999  on the bill and other times the phone will show who called that phone but the bill doesnt happens more than once. i was wondering if it had to do with a seprate phone getting forwarding to that phone

I'm glad you're checking your bill so closely lulubee2323. When the bill shows 9999999999 for the number, that means the Caller ID was either unavailable or blocked. This can be from people calling the phone directly or calls that are forwarded but there was no Caller ID available. Those calls will generally not show in your call log because there was no actual number that appeared in your phone, so there's nothing to save the call's place in the log.
    Thank you

  • My cell number shows as "unknown" on my iPad 3(AT

When I purchased my iPad 3, I used the cloud to back from my previous iPad - an iPad 2. I think this has caused problems with my cellular account.  Specifically, when I go to About section of Settings, the cell number now shows as "unknown". When I logged into my AT&T account from the iPad 3, the number shown was the same as the number for my iPad 2, which I obtained in the About section of Settings. Any ideas?

Ive done that for so many times but still my number is unknown. I dont know why. Do you think my network is not supported by apple? Im currently using it here in philippines and also the personal hotspot is not found in my settings.

  • Someone else's phone number showing in my "Can be reached" option ....

My phone just gave me a notification saying "Name is now using [email protected] & 1 (xxx) xxx-xxxx for Facetime and iMessage."
When I open my settings for both Facetime, and iMessage, this persons phone number appears. I don't have it check marked, as I don't want my messages and Facetimes going to her phone. The notification only advised of the change, didn't give an option to accept or decline this change.
Is there a way to remove my information from her device?
Does this mean that her messages and notifications will be coming to my phone?
** Just as background information if it helps any, I had another iPhone that I sold to this girl. It was completely reset before I gave it to her, and she has been using it for several months now. But I am just getting this notificaton now. I obviously have her number that I can message her at if I cannot have this removed myself, but I don't have to rely on someone else to remove my information. Anyone who can offer help would be greatly appreciated.

Not that I'm aware of, but it is possible. It was her first smart phone, so I breifly went through all the stuff she could do, so It's possible I may have linked it to something not realizing it.
I was on my iTunes account just now and it did show 2 devices linked with iTunes in the Clouds .. so I removed the other one, but I am going to change the password now to delink it just to be sure.

  • My phone number shows up private?!

I've had my iPhone 5c for a month now and people keep telling me that my number shows up private. Why is that? I looked under the settings over and over for a switch that got turned off but I can't find anything . This is my very first iPhone and I have no clue how to fix this.

For CDMA iPhone, talk to your carrier.

  • Confused by what phone number shows up when iMessaging internationally after using two different SIM cards/numbers

I have a legally unlocked (by AT & T) iPhone 4s which is being used in Australia. First I had a "global" SIM card in it with a +44 (UK) phone number. I used that to text, iMessage and also used Whatsapp.  Then I switched to a local SIM card with a +61 (Australian) phone number. The weirdest thing happened-- can anyone explain?  I texted someone with the second/current Australian SIM card to a friend within Australia using data to do that and it was received as a text message coming from my Australian phone number. Then I walked into my building and my phone switched to wifi automatically (which I know is normal) and the next text message I sent her arrived as an iMessage but it arrived from my +44 number. That was the old SIM card no longer in my phone. I got a text back from her saying, "Who is this?" because she didn't recognize the +44 number! So, now I'm totally confused! How is that possible? The +44 number SIM card wasn't in my phone--so how could she get the iMessage from that number? Please help! What can I do to fix this?

You can try turning off/on iMessage to have it see your +61 Aussie number...

  • After activating my iPhone 4s, my phone number shows up as "n/a" and my old iPhone is still working. Any thoughts?

After syncing my new iPhone 4s, my old iPhone is still working and the new one says No Service. When I connect to iTunes, it says my Phone Number is "n/a" and my old iPhone is still working.
When activating initially through AT&T, I had no problems, but I've just never gotten service. Any thoughts? Could this all just be due to the servers being overloaded today?

After waiting on hold for a long time, I talked with AT&T to determine that the ICCID and IMEI numbers didn't get changed in their system.  (I'm guessing lost in transfer due to the load on the system?).  They took down the info, disconnected the call (I had to call from the 3Gs - no landline), and then called me back on my 4s.  Problem solved.
Hold times suck right now, but at least 611 calls don't cost you minutes and speaker phone is your friend

  • Just upgraded to iPhone 5c but in settings my phone number shows "unknown".

Just upgraded from iPhone 4 to iPhone 5c. Tried to make a phone call and got message that I would be connected with an operator and could place my call using a credit card. Tried call ing my cell from home phone and went to automated voice mail. Checked Settings and under Phone / My Number it shows "unknown". Is this an iPhone problem or do I need to contact my carrier, Verizon?

There is a setting that you can set to prevent the iPhone from backing up to iCloud.
Settings > iCloud > Backup > iCloud Backup > Turn off
Apple provides 5 GB of free space for backups. When the data backed up to iTunes is greater than that you will get the message to buy additional storage. The storage in question is iCloud storage and has nothing to do with storage on your iPhone.
I use my 5 GB free storage for Contacts, Calendars, Reminders etc. and the total of these is usually well below 1 GB.
It is still important though, to periodically backup your iPhone in case of a problem that results in data loss. I do this with iTunes on my computer.

  • My skype phone number shows incorrectly on the per...

When I call someone from my Skype app on my computer and that includes my cell phone, the number that comes up on my cell phone caller ID and the people I call is NOT my Skype number so those people I call never answer their phone because they don't recognize that its me. The number that they see and I see on my cell phone is very different as in a number with an area code in California and I live in NC. What is causing this and why is it occuring?
By the way I do have the latest version of Skype on my Mac.

What do I do about strange and different numbers appearing when I call someone. I live in New Mexico, my fake number has been in Florida, California, and "unknown" ( the one that no one picks up. I work in dog rescue. Important people answer, sometimes life and death. I pay for skype number. I also pay for Skype on the Go and cannot text from my computer. What's up? And help.

  • TS4036 I have backed up my phone to icloud, photos, music, contacts, but now most of my contacts don't show up on my actual phone, and all I have on the text is a phone number instead of the person's name. What happened?

I am new to the icloud, and I have a question. I have backed my phone up to icloud, with photos, music, contacts, etc. but now most of my contacts have disappeared on my actual phone, and when someone sends me a text, just a phone number shows up instead of their names. What happened? How do I get all of my contacts back on my phone?
