My phone ran out of battery last night and will not turn on through charging. Top button has also stopped functioning. Help?
My iPhone ran out of battery last night, and now it won't turn on.
The top button doesn't work anyway, but I've tried charging to wake it up using several chargers and via a laptop and plug socket.
The phone's about a year old, and has otherwise been working fine. I've no idea why it would just stop working - no water spilt on it or anything like that.
Can anyone suggest anything?
Clean iPhone charging port with toothbrush and small amount of Isopropyl Alcohol. See if better. Try another good USB cable. This iPhone potentially has many problems. Without the top button function it is very difficult to deal with any of the other problems. The iPhone may also have faulty battery, faulty charging port, or worse faulty screen, or even worse faulty logic board. Last night, I was watching something on my Macbook Pro and it died (out of battery). I went to plug it in and waited a couple of minutes to try and start it back up. However, when I connected the power source the light was green, which could not have been the case since I know 100% it was out of battery. I proceeded to hold the start button for a long period of time, but my computer made no noise and refused to turn on - it looked like for all intensive purposes it was dead. I left it alone overnight praying that it would be alright in the morning and luckily, when I opened the computer this morning it was restarted and fine. I'm concerned because I've had this happen to me a couple of times and while it always turns back on, I feel like there is a bigger issue that I need to get addressed. Can anyone help me with this? Any ideas? Thank you!

I have an unlocked 3GS and it is NOT jailbroken. It ran out of battery last night and when i charged it this morning it has got stuck on the apple logo wont do anything else. My computer doesnt pick it up either! Can somebody HELP please!!!
nb. i havent updated it for a while to its running a 3. something software.Connect the iPhone to your computer and launch iTunes, then restart the iPhone by holding down the on/off and the home buttons until you see the Apple logo. My iPad went dead last night and will not turn back on.
My iPad which is about 10 months old suddenly went dead last night and I cannot turn it back on. The batter was not particularly low. I plugged it into the charger over night and still nothing this morning. Any ideas?

If you've left the phone plugged in for at least a half-hour with no results, then try holding power and home buttons simultaneously to do a soft reset (settings) only. If that doesn't work, try seeing if iTunes will recognize the device and let the computer charge the device.

I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your iPhone 5.
Follow the steps below if the iPhone is not powering on:
iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting

Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 15 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

first thing to do is plug it in and let it sit for a little while. if the battery was drained and you plug it in it will need to charge up a little bit before it will turn on.

No. Find My Phone is the only way to locate any lost iPhone. However, this requires that Find My Phone be turned on/activated before the phone was lost, and the phone must have an Internet connection. If your phone is turned off, does not have an Internet connection, or has been restored, there is no way to locate it.

Can I trace back my stolen phone using IMEI/ Serial Number? My phone ran out of battery when it was taken in November 2011 (Barely bought for a month). I didn't manage to activate any application to help me find my iphone back.
If you know anyone who has an iphone/ipod go on to app store and go on find my iphone. Download is (it should be free) and type your phone number in. It should then come up with a map and show you where your missing iphone is!

my phone ran out of battery as it was updating to iOS 6. Now it is having trouble rebooting. The silver apple logo keeps showing up and fading away. And doing it all over again... What should I do PLEASE help!! My phone is NOT jailbroken.

I have a 2009 Macbook Pro with 1T hdd 8GB Ram and ran Maverick without problem...Yosemite installation has me completely frozen, nothing works but the spinning ball...I had to force shutdown last night, and haven't turned it on again...what do you advise? During installation emptied cache, etc. Backed up using time machine, fortunately.
Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
4. Reinstall Yosemite: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
5. Reinstall Yosemite from Scratch:
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.

My ipod froze so I restarted it, but then it happened again, so I restarted it again, and it was fine but then it ran out of battery. Now when I plug it into the charger it, the Apple sign comes up for 5 seconds then disappears, it doesn't turn on or come up with the charging sign. Is it not going to work again, or is ther something I can do? Please help.
I have the same problem, and my Ipod turned off (when I held the home and power button)

Connect iPhone to Wall Charger for 10 minutes, it may turn ON itself. If still nothing, keep on charger and Reset, hold both home and power buttons for about 20 seconds until the iPhone begins to respond.
