My phone says connect to iTunes when it dies, my phone was never jail broken either

When my phone dies, I plug it in and the apple comes up than it goes to the USB and iTunes logo. I connect it to iTunes hold in power and home and all and it eventually turns on I did it 3 times so far, now this time I can't get it to go back on

Do exactly as the image says and connect the device to iTunes then restore as new.

If you have an iTunes backup that includes the photos you may be able to extract them from the backup using a 3rd party utility such as http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/ibackupextractor/

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

Does iTunes recognize your iPhone at all? It sounds like this is the image you're seeing on your screen to connect your phone to iTunes:

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Since iTunes is asking your to enter the passcode, and you are unable to access the iPad, you will need to put the device into recovery mode and restore the iPad by following the directions below.
Use recovery mode
Follow these steps if you never synced your device with iTunes, if you don't have Find My iPhone set up, or if you can't get to your own computer. You'll need to put your device in recovery mode, which will erase the device and its passcode. Then you'll restore your device as new or from a backup.
Disconnect all cables from your device.
Turn off your device.
Press and hold the Home button. While holding the Home button, connect your device to iTunes. If your device doesn't turn on automatically, turn it on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode.
Click OK, then restore the device.

I forgot my iPhone password and my iPhone is now disabled and says connect to iTunes. I am away from home for another week. I have borrowed a laptop and done as suggested. turn phone off and then press home button and attach USB lead, phone should enter recovery mode. It doesn't. I initially get the charge bar and then the opening screen saying my phone is disabled..

When i put my iphone on charge or try to turn it on it says connect to itunes when i do that it says that my phone is in recovery mode and needs to be restored!

Someone please help me, i really dont want to restore my iphone as i have really important things on it, the phone has not been backed up in a long while..
i dont know how this happend but i was trying to update tmy iphone like 2 days ago but the update didnt end up completing due to the battery percentage being below 50, anyways i ignored the update and thought id do it later, yesterday i got notifications saying that the phone will continue the update and restart in a few minutes or something along those lines i had the option to click restart later or something like that so i clicked on that, later on my phone died and i put it on charge, as it was turning on the apple logo came up with the dowload bar underneath it, you know when you update or restore your phone and it loads, it was like that, it was taking forever, like it took so long that i removed my phone from the charger and it just froze for a bit then turned off, when i tried turning it on again it told me to connect to itunes so i did and now its telling me that my phone is recovery mode and it needs to be restored!! Is there any way i could fix this problem without restoring my phone?

You can try to restart the iPhone to exit recovery mode.
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

Recovery mode erases your device and restores it, which should resolve the issue. If you previously synced with iTunes or iCloud, you may be able to restore from your backup after recovery.
