  • HT1766 Screen locked Question: this is the same as the phonoe power is off

    Cloud  ask screen locked.
This is the same as the phono power is off?

    No.
Pressing the power button puts the iPhone in sleep mode, where the display is off but the phone is still on, "hibernating," and will come on again by simply pressing the home button or the sleep/power button.
Holding down the home button until you see "slide to power off" in red and then sliding it across the screen will completely power the phone down. In order to turn it back on you would need to hold down the power button again until you see the Apple logo, and wait for it to boot up.

  • HT2188 My phone will not go back to the home menu unless I power it off and then on! How can I fix this without apple care?

It started yesterday. I hot a itunes and plug screen - had those before - but then it went away. But...now I cannot get out of any application or window unless I have a message that says Dismiss  Read. Is there a fix?

Work around until fixed. Tap Settings App > General > Accessibility > Assistive Touch > turn it ON > Tap new white button at bottom of screen. Tap Home.

  • Screen permanently zoomed in- Magic Prefs??? After configuring "two finger zoom in" in Magic Prefs, screen is permanent;y zoomed in how do I overide Magic Prefs and switch off zoom?

Hi. I went into Magic Preferences to configure a "2 finger pinch out" as zoom in and a "2 finger pinch in" as zoom out of screen. In short, the zoom in worked and the zoom out didn't. Now my IMac screen is permanently zoomed in and I cant tell where abouts I am on the screen to switch off or overide the stupid magic prefs of my magic mouse. I have tried holding CONTROL, scroll down arrow but didn't work.
    Thanks in advance. Dennis

Try holding down Control while using the single-finger scroll gesture on the Magic Mouse. In Snow Leopard you would use the scroll-down gesture (drag finger toward you), but if you are use Lion the gesture may be reversed.
Another possibility - go to System Preferences > Universal Access, click the Seeing choice. See if Zoom got activated accidentally. If it is "on", change it to '"off".
Note that there is a keyboard command (shortcut) available to toggle that Zoom: Command-Option-8
You can disable that shortcut in System Preferences > Keyboard, Keyboard Shortcuts section - click the Universal Access item in the left-hand pane, then uncheck the "turn zoom on or off" item in the right-hand pane.
Note - the descriptions I gave for what is where applies to Snow Leopard. If you are using Lion, there should be simialr settings although their specific locations may be slightly different.

  • HT1430 How can you reboot your Touch if the screen is frozen and will not allow you to use the "slide to power off"

How can I reboot my Touch when the screen is frozen and I cannot use the "slide to power off" feature?

    Next try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • My screen seems to be in a permanent zoom

my screen seems to be in a permanent zoom, and whenever i move my curser, the screen moves with it.  how do i get back to a normal screen?

If you have toddlers or cats Zoom can accidentally turned on by hitting a group of keys that include Option + Command + 8.
To prevent this being accidentally activated in the future go to System Preferences>Keyboard>Keyboard Shortcuts>Universal Access and uncheck all the boxes.

  • My lock screen picture is zoomed in. When I try to change it, I can't scale it, or try to zoom out to a position I like. It is permanently stuck in one position. I asked a friend that had ios7 and he can't relate, and has never seen it before

To back to the normal scale you have to disable the parallax.
Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Reduce Motion (turn off)
You won't be able to put the wallpepr out of frame as ios 6 (earlier), but it stop to putting the annoying zoom.

    WHAT TO DO

Unauthorized modification of iOS can cause security vulnerabilities, instability, shortened battery life, and other issues
Security vulnerabilities: Jailbreaking your device eliminates security layers designed to protect your personal information and your iOS device. With this security removed from your iOS device, hackers may steal your personal information, damage your device, attack your network, or introduce malware, spyware or viruses.
Inability to apply future software updates: Some unauthorized modifications have caused damage to iOS that is not repairable. This can result in the hacked iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch becoming permanently inoperable when a future Apple-supplied iOS update is installed.
... It is also important to note that unauthorized modification of iOS is a violation of the iOS end-user software license agreement and because of this, Apple may deny service for an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch that has installed any unauthorized software.

  • The display on my ipod touch is permanently zoomed. what did I do and how to fix it?

the display on my ipod touch is permanently zoomed. what did I do and how to fix it?

  • The images and words are magnified and I am unable to use the phone.  I cannot zoom out either.  Please advise.  Thanks.

On my iphone 4S, the images are all magnified and I am unable to zoom the images out and use the phone.  Any suggestion to prevent this from happening and correcting this?

Double tap on the screen using three fingers to get back to normal.
Turn on/off accessibility features using iPhone: Go to Settings > General > Accessibility.
    Zoom in or out
Double-tap the screen with three fingers. By default, the screen is magnified 200 percent. If you manually change the magnification (by using the tap-and-drag gesture, described below), iPhone automatically returns to that magnification when you zoom in by double-tapping with three fingers.

  • Ios8 phone screen is magnified

    iPhone 5s.
This morning I updated to ios8.  Sometimes when something touches my phone screen it goes into a magnified view and I am unable to enter my passcode to use the phone. with ios7 it was easy to fix by simply resetting the phone by pressing the power and home buttons at the same time, but this doesn't work with ios8. How do I fix it now? I cant use my phone like this because I can't enter my pass ode to unlock my phone?!!!!!

    Hello again,
To turn off Zoom in iOS 8 you do the following steps that says on the article (iOS: Home screen icons are magnified or large).
BUT when your at the accessibility part of the settings app, you select Zoom and there will be 4 settings that you will see.
Just turn off Zoom by tapping on the toggle switch.
If that doesn't work, you should try disabling Zoom via iTunes.
    Hope this helps,

  • I have an iphone 4s that is having display issues. If I turn the phone on, it vibrates to acknowledge it successfully turned on but the screen stays solid black. I can plug the phone into my computer and itunes will recognize the phone as well.

I have an iphone 4s that is having display issues. If I turn the phone on, it vibrates to acknowledge it successfully turned on but the screen stays solid black. I can plug the phone into my computer and itunes will recognize the phone as well. However, itunes can not do anything with the phone because the phone is locked and I can not unlock the phone because the screen is black.
    >CURVEBALL!!!<
The screen does work though! Through trial and error along side a little troubleshooting, I was able to figure out that the screen will cut on after the phone dies completely. The phone has to die completely with no battery power left. Then if I plug the phone into a charge and wait a while for it to charge, the phone will turn on like nothing was ever even wrong with it. I charge the phone up to like 30% and turn it off then bam the phone turns on but the screen is solid black again.
I am currently in the process of waiting for the phone to die and when I turn the phone back on I am going to completely remove the auto-lock and lock code off of the phone for the time being.
    Any other suggestions? Please help!

Sounds like the device was dropped at some point and damaged as a result.
Take it to Apple for evaluation and a replacement.
