My phone shows that I'm connected to the wifi, but I am receiving no signal

For some reason my wifi has dropped from my phone. It shows thatt it is connected in the settings but it is still running on the 3G. I have reset my neworks and relogged in and it is still not working. has anyone else had this problem?

This means you're connected to the signal that your router is sending, however your router isn't connected to or sending out the wifi. You should read the user manual to indicate what the blinking lights indicate
or you can reset your router wtih it plugged into the modem and then setup the wireless connection in it.
you could also try turning on and turning off the modem and then turning off and then turning on the router before you reset it.
hope this helps

My iPhone 5 is experiencing problems with the Wifi at home. It shows that it is connected to the wifi but anything that uses wifi (apps etc) doesn't load content and just looks like it's loading forever but nothing ever comes. However the wifi and wifi/internet dependant apps work sometimes but it's rare. How do I fix this?

    Back up all data.
Unlock the Network preference pane, if necessary, by clicking the lock icon in the lower left corner and entering your password. Cllck Advanced, open the DNS tab, and change the server addresses to the following:
              8.8.8.8
              8.8.4.4
That's Google DNS. Click OK, then Apply.
    In Safari, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. If you’re using another browser, empty the cache. Test. Any difference?
    Notes:
    1. If you lose Internet access after making the above change to your network settings, delete the Google servers in the  Network preference pane, then select the TCP/IP tab and click Renew DHCP Lease. That should restore the original DNS settings; otherwise restore them yourself. Remember that you must click Apply in order for any changes to take effect.
    2. I don't use Google DNS myself, though I have tested it, and I'm not recommending it or any other DNS provider; the server addresses are offered merely for testing purposes. There may be privacy and technical issues involved in using that service, which you should investigate personally before you decide whether to keep the settings. Other public DNS services exist.

  • My iPad shows that it's connected to the Wifi, but cuts off during certain apps.

My iPad shows that it's connected to my home network, and it works. Sometimes.
After a bit of time, it just randomly disconnects, and I can't use the internet anymore, even though it says it's still connected to the network. This can be temporarily solved by turning off wi-fi and turning it on again, but the problem starts again a few seconds later.
This only happens on my home network, and not other networks.
    Anyone have any ideas?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at
    http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

You might want to try resetting your router and your modem - just unplug the cords, leave them unplugged for about 3-5 minutes and then replug the modem and then the router in that order.
This may or may not correct your problem - call back if it doesn't.

  • MY APPLE TV SHOWS THAT iT IS CONNECTED TO MY WIFI, BUT CAN NOT ACCESS THE INTERNET

my apple tv found my wifi, but can not access the internet??

I have been on the phone with Apple, done all of the trouble shooting they have recomended. When I attempt to connect it to the internet I get a message reading "your apple tv is connected to your wi-fi but cannot connect to the internet. I have plugged the modem right into the apple tv and it still won't work. This is the second device I've used. (apple gave me a new one after the first didn't work). I just thought there might be someone out there who had the same issue and knows how to resolve it.

  • My computer says that i'm connected to the wifi but I have an alert that says no internet connection

    no internet connection

This means you're connected to the signal that your router is sending, however your router isn't connected to or sending out the wifi. You should read the user manual to indicate what the blinking lights indicate
or you can reset your router wtih it plugged into the modem and then setup the wireless connection in it.
you could also try turning on and turning off the modem and then turning off and then turning on the router before you reset it.

  • My iPhone 5c won't connect to home internet. I have an Actiontec router and my phone shows that I'm connected but no IP address comes up on my phone and Safari and other Apps state that I'm not connected to the internet.

I recently purchased an iPhone 5c and for some unknown reason I can't connect to my wireless router's network at home. I've tried establishing a seperate IP address, manually adding the iPhone device, and even spent an hour with Centurylink's IT support and they couldn't figure it out. They said it was an iPhone error. I had an iPhone 3 about 1 1/2 years ago that had the same problem. I ended up getting rid of the phone because I couldn't solve this problem before. I thought a newer phone would not have the same problem.
My phone shows that I'm connected to my home internet, but when I open up network information for my home internet there is no IP Address listed. Safari and my other apps also state that I'm not connected to the internet. I'm ready to sell my phone back and go to an Android since I didn't have trouble connecting with it before. We also have a Macbook and iPad that both connect to the internet just fine. Please....oh please help.

I was having the same problem; I tried all the recommended fixes in the "more like this" and nothing worked, but finally found the answer.  Try this: http://themiddleofthestreet.blogspot.com/2013/11/if-your-iphone-5s-wont-connect- to-wifi.html

    Hi there amalrockzz,
You may find the troubleshooting steps in the article below helpful.
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
Follow these steps to troubleshoot the above issues:
Be sure you're in range of your Wi-Fi router (access point).
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and on. If your Wi-Fi setting is dimmed, follow these steps.
Confirm that your Wi-Fi router and cable or DSL modem are connected to power, turned on, and connected to the Internet. If not, refer to your network administrator or Internet service provider (ISP) for assistance.
    Restart your iOS device.
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected.
    Tap  and Forget this Network.
Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Note: You may need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your network requires one.
Turn your Wi-Fi router off and on2. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
Update your device to the latest version of software.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2. For AirPort Base Stations, install updates using the AirPort Utility.
Unable to access the Internet while connected to Wi-Fi
If you're using a public or commercial network, you may need to log in or subscribe.
Check to see if you have a self-assigned IP address:
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected and tap .
If your IP address is 169.254.xxx.xxx, you may not be able to access the Internet.
If you do not have a self-assigned IP address, see if other Wi-Fi devices on your network have Internet access.
If they do not, consult with your network administrator or ISP for further assistance.
If they do, reset network settings on your device by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings including:
previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords
    recently used Bluetooth accessories
    VPN and APN settings
    Additional Information
Find information on connecting to a Wi-Fi network.
Some third-party routers may not be compatible with all iOS devices, even after updating to the latest firmware. If your iOS devices can successfully connect to other Wi-Fi networks, contact your router's manufacturer to ensure that your router is compatible with your iOS device.
See recommended settings for configuring your Wi-Fi router for use with iOS devices.

Comcast just replaced my cable modem/wireless router.  All devices connect properly except my iPhone 4.  It shows itself to be connected to the network, but it does not load any web page.  Resetting the iPhone does not solve the problem.  Any suggestions?

    Thank you for your response.
I had rebooted the router (several times, actually), to no avail.
I do not know the answer to whether MAC filtering is enabled on the router.  Have tried to find info about that, but unsuccessfully.  Router is an Arris TG852G, supplied by Comcast.  I would be surprised if MAC filtering were the issue, since in addition to the computer, we have successfully connected several other devices to the wifi, namely an iPad, a Android phone and a Kindle Fire - all able to access internet pages through the wifi, and all without a need to add the device to a MAC address whitelist.  To add to the mystery, the Comcast tech was able to connect his iPhone 4 to my network and access web pages.  He was unable to connect my iPhone, however, after trying for some time.
I seem to recall reading somewhere that an iPhone cannot connect to a wireless "n" router, only "b" or "g".  The Arris router is described as a n/g/b compliant router, and as noted the Comcast tech was able to connect his iPhone, so don't know why that would be the issue here.
By the way, my iPhone does connect wirelessly to my network at home.  This difficulty is at a second home.
Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

  • I installed an Extreme in place of an old Express, the various phones and Ipads seem to work on the WiFi but the Mac itself will not connect.  It says something about the IP address.

I installed an Extreme in place of an old Express, the various phones and Ipads seem to work on the WiFi but the Mac itself will not connect.  It says something about the IP address being used by another device.  Second wifi network was also created.  The Mac worked for a few minutes and then gaev up citing eth IP problem......any clues people??

If you have not already done so, now would be a good time to perform a complete network power cycle.......to give everything a fresh start.
Power off every device on the network.....computers, printers, hard drives, etc......in any order that you want
    Wait a full minute
Start the modem, and let it run by itself for 2-3 minutes
Start the next device connected to the modem and let it run a full minute
Keep starting devices one at a time about a minute apart until the entire network is back up
    Check the network

Our IPod connects to the WIFI, but not to the internet.  We have a wireless router which we connect our MACBOOK to the internet and our IPod.  The MACBOOK works fine, but not the IPod.  It shows to be connected to WIFI, but whenever we try to connect to an internet site i.e. Sarfari, we get an message "Safari cannot open the page becuase it is not connected to the internet".  We have tried rebooting, but it has not helped.
