My phone shut itself before 1%, it shut itself around 2-4% do you know why?

title says it. i've never reach to 1% before, after upgrading to ios6 phone shut itself 4%, is it hardware or software problem? did anyone experience this?

Lithium batteries really don't liked to be discharged below ~ 30% of capacity. Fact is, charging whenever you have a chance or keeping the phone plugged in as much as possible is the best course of action. Every two-to-three months, discharge to about 30%, then recharge to full.
But, even with abuse, the battery in an iPhone should last ~ 2 years or so. Manufacturers, like Apple, know that users will not necessarily use "best practices". Thus, they design accordingly, & modify warranty/support terms to state: "batteries are considered consumable items".

Connect your phone to the wall socket and press and hold display off and on button along with home button for over 10 seconds till Apple logo appears.

    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences ▹ Spotlight ▹ Privacy
The list of items excluded from Spotlight indexing is shown (it may be empty.) Click the plus (“+”) icon to add an item to the list. Select your boot volume (under DEVICES) and add it to the list. Then remove it from the list by selecting it and clicking the minus (“-“) icon.
Spotlight will rebuild the index. If you try to do a Spotlight search now from the magnifying-glass icon in the top right corner of the display, a pulsing dot will appear in the icon. When the dot disappears, the indexing is complete.

  • My ipod touch just shut off when i was listening to some music. Now it wont turn back on, do you know why? Please thanks...

IS THERE A REASON WHY MY IPOD TOUCH WONT TURN BACK ON.?  BEFORE IT SHUT OFF MY BATTERY WAS FULLY CHARGED.  ANY SUGGESTIONS OUT THERE TO HELP TURN MY IPOD BACK ON PLEASE...??

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    hello abhishek,
if the issue was from beginning (dead on arrival) you can call the apple hotline and they can create a replacment for you.
but if the issue wasnt from beginning than it is a cosmetical issue, cosmetical issues are not covered by the apple warranty. than you should make an appointment in an apple retail store and hope that the workers there replace that device.

Why would you do that, and not on your own computer?  See the hassle it caused you?
can he just email me the folder
Backup files are too big to email.  Use FTP, DropBox, etc...
how do I then put all that data back into my current phone from the new computer?

  • My iPhone 4S keeps shutting down before battery is low

Why does my iPhone 4S keep shutting down when it shows I still have 30% battery or more still available?   For example...my last phone started shutting down at 30% and by the time I took it to the store a couple weeks later, it was shutting down at 88% (they saw it for themselves, ran diagnostics, and came up with no issues).  Getting a new phone every 3 weeks is not ideal.  I'm on my 2nd replacement phone in 2 months and it started back up yet again-shut down at 31% a couple days ago.  I charge the phone to 100% and it never fails, it shuts down at a higher percentage each day (it shut down at 35% today).  I have done everything Apple Support has suggested with no luck (including full restore).  Is anyone else having this problem?  Any suggestions?

    Hi,
I simply use the phone until I have only a little charge left. Once that's reached I'll simply let phone idle completely or drain the rest with lightweight use. We have big difference here as I can actually reach 1% rather than phone dying at 20++ percentages. Previous said, e.g yesterday phone just died after some use with 12% battery left and started again when bringing indoors. I was then able to drain the battery from 12% -> 1% before it eventually died completely. After this I couldn't start the phone anymore instead getting the charge icon constantly, so I just plugged it in at that point. After charging over night I would then consider the battery charge meter calibrated.
In your case you could test if you can still start the phone at 47%. Even if it's displaying only charge icon you could try to hold the sleep/power button longer and/or do reset with holding home+sleep/power button a few seconds. If it indeed doesn't start it would indicate battery truly is empty. It it does.. then you could try to continue using the phone hopefully hitting lower battery levels and eventually try to fully recharge it in case you'll see the battery charge percentage working any different.
Below picture shows I can still reach the  "0%" battery level and also pretty good usage times.. so the problem with me really is just that the stupid phone doesn't like cool temperatures (possibly after iOS6 upgrade)

So, you can't Install OSX to the external?
Or you can't boot from it when you do?
You're not the only one wondering... I'm reminded of the Goose that laid the Golden Egg story.

  • Downloaded new Apps update but laptop shuts off before update finishes

I recently installed OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 on to my Macbook Pro that I bought back in 2007. The update
went fine, and Yosemite was working great. However, last night it told me there
was an update to the Apps program so I clicked install. It installed everything
normally and was going through what I think is the final boot up (Grey screen
with Apple icon and dark grey loading bar beneath icon). Problem is that it the
bar gets about 20 to 25 percent full and then my Macbook just shuts off.  I turn it back on and the same screen comes
up with the same bar filling to the same amount before it just shuts off again.  What do I do here? I need some help on this
one. I’ve never had any problems with my Mac before. Thanks in advance!

    Good morning Bainje,
If you are having an issue with your MacBook Pro shutting down during the startup process, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -

  • I plugged an android phone into my MacBook and it shut down. How do I get it to work again

I plugged an android phone into my MacBook and it shut down. How do I get it to work again

I've no idea what happened - but it sounds as if plugging in the phone has fried the logic board. The best thing that I can recommend is that you take the machine to your local Apple Store/AASP and have them diagnose the problem.
At this point, there's simply nothing else that you can attempt.
    Sorry,

  • Application shuts down before it has started

I have a problem with logic on my macbook. When I start it I get a warning sign that says that the application shut down unexpected ( I don't know exactly what the warning sign says in English since it's on Swedish on my compute ).
The things I've done so far is:
    * Repaired the disk and the disk authorities (once again, don't know if that's what it's called in English)
    * I used AppDelete to throw away Logic and then I installed it again, and I still get the same message, that it shuts down before it even opened.
Does anyone know what to do? Please help me!

There are special Apple Discussion forums for Logic Studio and Logic Pro 8. Are you referring to one of these?
Has it worked before or is this the first time you have tried using it?

If Jim's suggestion doesn't work, and Logic still crashes, copy and paste the crash log into a new message here.
If you don't know how, open "Console" in your utilities folder. Click the 'Logs' icon. You'll see an item under ~/Library/Logs named 'CrashReporter' and you'll find the "Logic Pro crash.log'
Find the beginning of the latest log (they're dated) and copy and paste the complete log for that date into your message. Sometimes (but not always) there's a clue in there about a bad plug-in, or a failed attempt to load a particular resource, which might help us suggest a solution.
