You should not need DFU mode - you phone is already in recovery mode - you just need to restore it in itunes. If you unable to restore you need to try another computer - preferably other network as well. If it is still not restored - it is a hardware problem.

Attempting to update Iphone. It gave me a picture that looks like it wants me to attatch the phone to the computer with my itunes. Noe itunes is tellime me my phone is in recovery mode and wants me to restore my phone before it can be used with itunes. should i do this? will I loose all my pictures/contacts/songs?
You don't have a choice. Anything that was on the phone is already gone. hopefully, you've been backing up on a regular basis. If you had iCloud backups turned on, the backups should be automatic.

I tried to update the software on my phone. It showed a picture to plug the phone into itunes. Plugged it in and now itunes says i cannot update the phone as it is in recovery mode. I cannot turn back on the phone without this message showing up. Any suggestions? Thanks

That is not what it says. Read the message again. It's telling you it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode and it must be restored.

My Iphone 5 was on the counter charging and I happened to look over at it and Facetime was running and trying to contact someone in my contacts list. This also happened yesterday while phone was charging. I was looking at my phone and my contacts where open when the phone was charging.
To me it seems like I have a virus but I'm not sure. I also just started using a new Mophie battery, not sure if that could have anything to do with the craziness.

I know I need to update software but I do not want to update until I back up my phone and I don't want to do that until I can verify that I don't have a virus. If I have a virus I don't want to spread it to my mac. Is there malware removal apps for the IPhone 5? Any words of wisdom or guidance is appreciated.If you've jailbroken your phone, you have an inherent risk of a virus. (and lost all support options)
If you have not jailbroken your phone, there are no known viruses for the iPhone. So do not spend much time worrying about that.
What may be more explainable is that you may have a glitchy/dying digitizer, because that has happened to me before.
Reboot the phone.
Move your contacts app to a new location on your homescreen. -

My phone was charging and then it wouldnt turn back on and the lock button is jammed so i cant really do anything. Please help me, i havent had it for very long.
i put that i held down the home button and all that... sorry, should of made my message a little clearer hun.. but i did try that, ive been searching video's on the net trying to figure out how to fix the problem, but nothing seems to be working... ive just tried pluging the usb lead into my phone while holding the home button then connecting it to my computer to see if itunes fires up, but even that didnt work... i dont know what else to try.

First, log into your iTunes Store account and see if the purchases are reflected in the Purchase History. If they are and you're sure you or someone you know didn't make the purchase, immediately change the password to your iTunes Store account, making sure it's not something easily guessed or looked up. Then go here:

and follow the instructions to report the issue to the iTunes Store.
If the charges are not reflected in the Purchase History, then it's most likely a fraudulent charge to your credit card directly rather than an unauthorized purchase through your iTunes Store account and it will be up to your bank to handle.

If you can turn it off, do so and put the device in a sealed bag of uncooked rice for 3-5 days. After that, you can try and charge it and see if it will work. I just got my replacement phone from Warranty. The phone was on for just 2 hours and it crashed. I was told that motorola knows about this "possible" issue. I got a new sim, hard reset, If it can be done I did it. They are now sending me the same phone again. Number 3. I would hope this one doesn't crash but I rather have a different phone so I can enjoy using my account. The phone's most recent error was today. " Unfortunately, the process com.motorola.widget.circlewidget3d" has stopped. At least the error message works and it's polite. I told tech this and they could not answer my question or help me other then "let's do a hard reset" My warranty replacement is coming on Monday. Let's hope this one works. Anyone else havinbg the same problem. it says "such and such as stop working" on all sorts of stuff! Help! I want my iPhone Back!
I just did a google search on this issue. OMG, I got a ton of videos on this or similar issues. Each one says in some way to clear the cache, reset the data, etc. Why in the world would this continue to happen and they not do a fix that resloves this without having to lose or stop what your doing. This is a very long and constant issue it seems with Android phones as there must have been pages and pages of what I now call "Unfortunately" So I am going to pray that Verizon helps me out and gets me away from this issue and helps me go back to iPhone or try the Samsung.

I just got an apple at&t iphone 4 and I have it unlocked. But I want to connect it to t-mobile, so I trimmed my sim card and once the phone was unlocked I inserted the sim and it says no sim, activation error. What can I do to fix this? What is wrong?

I recently updated my iPhone 5 to iOS 6.1 and lost all of my contacts. My phone was less than 30 days old and I did not have an account with iCloud prior to the back-up. Any way to restore my contacts or are they lost forever?
I have the exact same problem. I did the update on my iPhone 5 yesterday, opted for the iCloud set up in the update and then it wiped my contacts. They are not on my phone or in the cloud...

I have just purchased the iPhone 5s and my previous phone was backed up on iCloud. However when I restored this on my new phone my photos are still being restored after 4 days. Shows the amount there but no pictures? Is there anything I can do to get them back as my other phone has now been cleared. On my iCloud storage it still shows that my previous phone had all the info still?? I'm confused!
Many users have lost photos while preforming a restore from backup or upgrading the iOS. Recall, only photos in the camera roll are backed up to iCloud. There is a way to turn backups for camera roll on/off, perhaps these users had camera roll turned off.

Settings>icloud>Storage & Backups>Manage Storage, tap the device's name and on the next screen, be sure Camera Roll is turned on.
IMPORTANT...
Photos should be regularly synced to a computer (like you store photos from a digital camera) using either USB via iTunes (on a mac use iPhoto or Aperture to move them to an album) or using photo stream. If using Photo stream, but sure to move the received photos to a permanent album. If you have been doing that, then you can sync those photos back to your device.
Or, you can find other apps in the app store that send camera roll photos to a service like Dropbox.
If you haven't been saving photos except relying on iCloud to store them in a backup, then that is risky, as many users have discovered. I'm afraid I have no advice in this case - there is no "cure". -

Sounds like your iPhone is locked to the wireless carrier you used
in Bahrain. Contact that wireless carrier to see if they offer unlocking
and if you qualify. Only the carrier to which the iPhone is locked
can unlock it.
What does it say when you look at Settings=>General=>Carrier?
Remember that the warranty is not international. You will have to
return the iPhone to Bahrain for repair/replacement if it needs service.
