My Phone Will Not Completely turn on

I have had a Nokia E71 for over a year and a half now and it has worked great for that whole time, however about 3 days ago my phone would not turn on after I had it on the charger all night. If I use the power button to turn it on it gives the initial jolt like it is about to power up and the keys and screen light up and then nothing else happens. I have already bought a new phone, but I would love to fix this one or at least be able to get my contacts from it. If anyone could help me out with this it would be much appreciated.

Hi mag191,
Thanks for your post and welcome to the forum.
Have you tried connecting the phone to Nokia Suite via USB? The phone should connect automatically, if it doesn't respond immediately press on the square select key on your phone and see if you can establish a connection. If you can, you should be able to sync your phone's data from here.
As a last option you can take the phone to a local Care centre where the phone can get checked. Depending on the condition of the phone, they will be able to assist you with retrieving information off the device.
Hope this helps, let me know how you get on.

if a Mac OSX Computer is in near - try iBackup Viewer.
This is free of charge and can read your backup.
and thats the main difference. Those tools are reading the saved Data in the backup
but itunes attempts to restore the data from the backup on your iphone. if there are any corrupted data in the backup - the backup restore goes wrong. this can happen during security software or wrong corrupt data already stored on the iphone.
if itunes messed up to restore from backup try this one :
    - restore your iphone to factory settings using HT1808 or reset all settings and content direct from iphone
    - rename your iPhone (e.g. iPhone Test)
    - setup your iPhone as new device -> attempt to make a new backup - if successful -
    - click in itunes on restore from backup... and choose your desired backup
    or go to:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(Username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista - Windows 7: \Users\(Username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Pull your complete BackupFolder and try a different PC - copy the BackupFolder on this different PC in the same Path above - start iTunes and see if your Backup is there - attempt to restore from Backup again

My iPod 5th gen will not completely turn on it shows the apple symbol then shuts off I have restarted it and tried to plug it into my computer but cannot find it to restart it
Its been like this for awhile and I can not fix it

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • TS3992 my phone will not complete a back up to the cloud

I have tried and tried to do a backup to the cloud and my phone never completes the backup. I have 25GB cloud storage which is more than plenty. My phone is a 16GB 4s. I can start the back up before i go to bed and it still never completes

If you get the error "Backup not successful" and you've tried deleting the last backup and trying to back up manually without luck, try the following test:   Go to...
Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>manage Storage, tap your device name in the Backups section, then look under Backup options.  Turn off all apps from backup and then do a manual backup.  If that doesn't work, then this post will not help.  If the backup works, then go back to the app list and turn some on and try another backup.  If successful, keep repeating these steps.  If it fails at some point, then try to zero in on the one app that seems to make the backup fail.  (I had this problem and found one app failing, probably due to a corrupt data file.)
This process will take time, but if a backup works with no app data being used but clearly fails with the original settings, then somewhere in the mix of apps is a "bad" one.

  • Wifes's I-phone will not complete sync.  Stuck on last step

My wifes Iphone 4s will not finish a sync.  It gets stuck on the final step for 45 minutes or more.
She ends up just uplugging the phone.

    I have this promlem too!
Im using iPhone 5 with iOS 6 and ITunes (64bit) 10.7 on Windows 7 Ultimate.
I Have tried reinstaling iTunes and used diffrent USB-hubs and restarting my phone and computer.
I have also tried to de-select the option to sync apps and all media to my iphone - syncing - and then graduatly adding things to my iphone. This works with everything except my music. iTunes just could not sync my music. I have tried diffrent songs any playlists but nothing works. The sync complets without any songs being copied to the phone.
    What more can I do?

  • My iPod Touch  will not completely turn off or connect to iTunes

I disconnected my iPod and did what you are supposed to do to turn it off.  The little thing that circles round and round before it turns off all the way will not stop.  It won't turn off no matter what I do.  iTunes says it cannot connect to my iPhone (it is an iPod Touch) and that there is some kind of error.  I went through all of the troubleshooter steps including uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes.  What should I do?  Will it fix itself when the battery finally dies?

    - Have you tried resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Placing the iPod in recovery mode and then restoring the iPod via iTunes? For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
    For the future. saying:
"I went through all of the troubleshooter steps"
Really provides us with no information since we do not know what steps you are referring to.

  • HT5569 my wifi will not connect to my iphone, the wifi device is on and working with other devices. The wifi on my phone will not even turn on it just says off please help me to connect thanks

please help with the above question

Is the wifi optoin greyed out? If so, go to Settings>General>Reset and reset nerwork settings. You will need to reenter any wifi passwords you had previously saved. If that dosn't work, backup the phone and restore it http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766 this will walk you through all that. Just make sure you setup your phone as new and test the wifi before restoring from backup.

  • Trying to restore iphone 5 as my phone just has 'searching' in top left corner. Phone will not complete restore and keeps having an error code '1669' have followed all the updating instructions for the computer

My phone has stopped receiving a carrier or 3G signal from EE. Have decided to try and restore phone to factory settings, but it wouldn't let me unregister from iCloud - so I then followed advice on this forum which said to restore the phone using iTunes. The phone now keeps getting to a certain point in the restore and then error code '1669' appears. I have tried to restore on many occasions now and still nothing. I have followed all the steps, i.e. updated itunes, computer still no joy - can anybody help. Thanks

The quoted error appears related to Security Software on your computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694#1669
Follow steps as outlined, If still no joy it could be a hardware malfunction.
Please Fix up an appointment at the Genius Bar.

  • My iPhone 4 will not complete a back up. Error - 5000 comes up

Error 5000 appears after "preaparing phone for back up" completes. "Continuing will result in the loss of all contents of this phone" is the message. Phone will not complete a synch and iTunes often goes into "Not responding". I have repaired iTunes by downloading the software from Apple's website. No improvement.
    Can anybody offer a solution?

This is a bad situation. Your iPhone is in a state which cannot be backed up, and the Restore will return iPhone to factory specs erasing it. You need to Restore your iPhone to get it working again. If you were experiencing problems before, maybe your iPhone is damaged. If still faulty, and you have Warranty or AppleCare take iPhone to Apple for evaluation. If no coverage and still faulty it may be time for new phone.

  • HT4528 Phone will not charge up

Phone will not charge up when i am using the wall charger.  Phone will not even turn on

Does it charge when connected to your computer, or when connected to a vehicle charger if you have one?
Do you have access to another cable to rule out a problem with the existing cable?

  • My I phone 4 will not complete the backup to i cloud.

My I phone 4 will not complete the backup to i cloud.

Try deleting your last backup by turning off iCloud Backup in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup, then tap Manage Storage, swipe across your backup and tap Delete, then go back and turn iCloud Backup back on again.  If it still won't back up, you may have an app that is preventing the backup from succeeding.  To locate which one, go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the name of your device under Backups, under Backup Options tap Show All Apps, then turn them all to Off (including camera roll) and try backing up again.  If it succeeds, then the camera roll and/or one of your apps is preventing the backup and you'll have to located by process of elimination. Turn the camera roll On and try backing up again.  If it succeeds, turn some of your apps to On and try backing up again.  If it succeeds again, turn some more apps to On then try again; repeat this process until it fails.  Eventually you'll be able to locate the problem app and exclude it from your backup.

  • My iPhone 4s is stuck on a black screen that shows a USB cable connecting to iTunes. The phone will not turn on and the iTunes logo as I described only shows up when I plug the phone into the charger or my computer. I have tried the reset in restore mode

My iPhone 4s is stuck on a black screen that shows a USB cable connecting to iTunes. The phone will not turn on and the iTunes logo as I described only shows up when I plug the phone into the charger or my computer. I have tried the reset in restore mode as well as the DFU? mode and it still will not work. I have the latest version of iTunes on my Mac. My error code was 2002. I also tried it on my laptop (windows 8.1) and none of the above worked. My error code on my laptop was 02. The phone is through Verizon and it has absolutely no damage. It was working fine up until this and I have been trying to fix it for 2 days. Please help! I am unsure of what version the phone was currently running on before this because I have another iphone that's my primary phone and have not used this one in about a month. I do not believe it was updated to IOS 7.

Your iPhone is in recoverty mode at the moment so to possibly get it back up and running you would need to do a restore as you have been trying. Follow the steps in the article below for the specific error messages you have been receiving. If after following all steps the issue remains book an appointment at a local Apple Retail Store to have the iPhone evaluated.
Resolve specific iTunes update and restore errors
