If the issue is still occuring try a restore just in case.
If that does not solve the issue..... Take it back to where you purchased it from
AT&T's DOA (dead on arrival policy) is 30 days from the day of purchase.
They should be able to replace the iPhone for you as long as you ask them to within 30 days of it being purchased. -

How can I fix this?It might be a good idea to reset network settings & reboot your modem:
Open Settings->General->Reset->Reset Network settings. You will have to enter your wifi passwords again.
Also go to Settings->Safari->Clear History & a Website data. -

A lot of people have complained that when they call my phone I never answer even though the phone rings. However, the iPhone does not show a missed call. Years later I get a voicemail indicator. My phone shows full signal strength and the thing never rings. I have noticed this way too many times so I decided to post this question to see if anyone else has noticed the same thing.
The most common causes for this behavior:
1. Bad coverage/roaming (unlikely, since you said you have good AT&T coverage)
2. Frequent EDGE use (calls will go to voicemail if you are actively using EDGE)
3. Defective or improperly set ringer (if this were the problem, you'd be registering a lot of "missed calls" in your Recents list, which I assume you are not)
4. Bad SIM card
If you have eliminated #1-3, then it is likely #4. You can get your SIM swapped out very quickly at the AT&T store. -

After updating my iPhone with the 5.0 revision, my phone ceased to ring. All my settings seem to be proper and the ringer volume is set on top level.

Is the wifi optoin greyed out? If so, go to Settings>General>Reset and reset nerwork settings. You will need to reenter any wifi passwords you had previously saved. If that dosn't work, backup the phone and restore it http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766 this will walk you through all that. Just make sure you setup your phone as new and test the wifi before restoring from backup.

no, my do not disturb was not on. and on the do not disturb, you still get calls from those in your favorites. I turned off the vibrate with any call or alert and put the flashing led in the accessible section on.
but it should not do that. it didn't even vibrate. my girlfriend called me and texted me with phone on table while we were at dinner and nothing. it went right to vm she said. tower is full so something is wrong.

My iPhone 5 will not ring when my phone number is called.
Despite the "Silent" button on the side of the iPhone 5 being set to off, and the ringer turned on full blast, my iPhone 5 will not ring when any number calls my phone. This is not an issue with the settings, which are all set for the phone to ring. Has anyone else run into this problem, or may have a solution besides taking the phone in for repair? My phone is no longer covered under the one year limited manufacturer's warranty, so any repair is likely going to cost a minimum of almost $300.

I tried that just now and it doesn't seem to have fixed it--but it is not a constant problem--just sometimes! I received a call from a friend when do not disturb was turned off but also when it was on! That was really strange!
