itunes wil not sync my music to my iphone
i uninstalled itunes and downloaded a new one
it will backup my pnone, but as soon as it starts to sync it says it cant find the device on the iphone

Connect your iPhone to your computer, open iTunes, go to Devices (on the left side) and double click Devices. A window should come up on the right...It has Summary, Info, Music, etc on the top. Go through each tab and see if you have checked all the sync boxes that you want.
At the bottom of the page it says 'sync' or 'apply'
You may have to go to your 'playlist' and check the boxes that you want to go to your iPhone, to sync to your iPhone.

I posted this about a month ago and didn't get any help. Maybe a second time around will do the trick. Below is the original question. I don't want to keep restoring my phone to factory settings in order to sync music, so any other insight would be helpful. Thanks.
Hi - I'm sure this is more of a software or iTunes question but whenever I connect my iPhone to my computer, iTunes for some reason won't sync at all with my iPhone. I noticed this when I had the iPhone5 and recently upgraded to an iPhone6. I tried importing music and photos but it will just not work. I also tried checking sync w/ wifi and sync selected songs and photos only, but it won't even go as far as saving those settings on my iPhone. My iTunes indicates that it is syncing for about 1 second and then it'll go back to normal like nothing happened. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated! By the way I am currently running mac os x version 10.6.8. My laptop is a little outdated and won't let me update iTunes or my software to a more recent version. Unless I'm being naive and missing something else here.

I was able to fix a problem where iTunes 12.01 would not recognize my iPhone or iPad but the device WAS recognized in iPhoto.
Another website gave me the hint to download and re-install iTunes. I did this and it worked. (I also restarted both the Mac and iPhone and iPad afterward for good measure).

Sometimes the iPhone doesn't show up in the side bar if you're using WiFi syncing, if its not working, then be connected to your WiFi on your phone and on your computer (Same network) let me know how it's going, if it doesn't work still. Turn your phone off and on again and put in your pass code then try to sync it (keep your phone unlocked and not in sleep mode) tel me if it appears in the side bar.

details: running an iphone5 - windows desktop - itunes version 11.0.1.
problem will not sync with itunes at all:
phone on left side does not show, when going into FILE then DEVICES then SYNC and other 3 options are completely faded out.
i have tried to restore the phone to factory settings. turn it on and off, restart computer, turn off and on bonjour services, switched the cables, tried it both ways.
turned on and off, location services, adjusted time and date, etc.
please advice, thank you in advance, someone help, this is starting to leave a bad taste with apple, i had the 3, the 4, no issues and now, its a smart phone, it should do what it supposed to do.

More details:
I have three iPhone4 phones. 1 of them will Sync with iTunes, but the other 2 have this problem where they will not Sync. All 3 phones recently were able to Sync, like 10 or 14 days ago. I am Sync ing them all to the same PC and iTunes account. No idea what has changed to cause 2 of the iPhones to be unable to Sync. they both have the "Sync will resume when "PC" is available" message under the Wifi Sync menu.

You say your phone will not sync but then you say, "when it does sync."
Does it sync or not? Did you remember to select music to sync onto your phone before clicking on Apply or Sync?
You do have to have iTunes on your computer in order to sync your phone. And your music must be in iTunes.

I have a bunch of songs on my ipod that I have from my previous computer and they will not sync with Itunes on my new computer. I have authorized the computer, I have also selected the "transfer purchases from ipod" option, I have spent the last day reading through FAQs but have found no solution. How do I fix the problem? The transfer purchases option only works with music purchased from iTunes and you don't say if this is the case.
Here's some other option for Windows users.
First, try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
