My Phone Won't Charge Or Connect To iTunes?

Uhm... my phone died at school today, and I just got home and tried to charge it on my mac.
Well, iTunes opened as usual, and it said:
"iTunes connot connect to the iPhone, "my iphone" because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the iPhone before it can be used with iTunes."
So I looked at my phone, and it has a picture of the USB cord and an arrow pointing to the iTunes logo.
What do I do?

Let it charge for a while.
Then try a reset ( covered on page 34 of the manual) if it doesn't work fine after it is charged.

  • HT1476 iPhone 4S won't charge or connect to iTunes through cable properly.

Hi, My iPhone 4S is not charging or connecting to iTunes.  Only very sporadically does it charge properly or connect to the computer.  It is always charging a bit however when the cable is connected, but very slowly (approx 1% per hour).  On the odd occasion it does charge properly it all seems fine, but this is very rare.
I have tried several different cables (all original Apple ones).  I have tried charging on different power sockets.  I have tried charging on different computers (both Apple and Regular).  I have also tried charging on a docking station.
I am taking it to an Apple support center this Friday, but urgenly need to sync with iTunes to save all my apps I have bought.  I have not synced for a while.  I have been told I will probably get a new phone, that is why everything needs to be backed up now.  I have already back-up my setting on iCloud, but as far as I am aware this will not back up the actual software.
    Please help.  I am desperate!
    Thanks

    I would restart

and if they didn't help then I would say that the connector of the iphone is defect

  • IPad won't charge or connect to iTunes

I've had my iPad for nearly 8months now and up until now it has worked perfectly.
This morning I tried to connect my iPad to my iMac (10.5.8) so that I could sync it with iTunes however the iPad was totally unresponsive. The home screen (that normally lights up when connected) stayed blank and the device did not show up in iTunes.
I've been browsing the discussions all morning and trying various things out but nothing has worked so short of travelling to my nearest Apple shop for help I'm really stuck.
    Here is a list of what I've already tried;
    1. Uninstalled and re-installed latest version of iTunes.
    2. Connected my iPhone 4 (using the same usb, cable etc) and synced that with iTunes without any problems
    3. Reset the default settings on the iPad.
    4. Restarted iPad and iMac numerous times.
    5. Cold re-booted the iPad (holding the home button and power button until the Apple logo appears).
    6. Checked that battery on iPad is over 50% (its actually at 95%).
Hoping someone here can help ... I haven't tried restoring the iPad because if it still won't let me connect to iTunes i wont be able to re-install the backup.

I would have them check out the USB port on the iPad. If you cannot get it to connect with multiple computers and multiple cables, the only thing left is the connector port on the iPad itself.
Try an apple store or call them and see if you can send it in to be repaired/replaced.

  • IPhone 3g won't charge or connect to iTunes.

I have an iPhone 3g as well as an iPhone 4. The iPhone 3g is almost two years old, and used to work fine, but now it won't connect to my computer or to iTunes. The iPhone 4 has the most recent software on it, however the iPhone 3g has not been upgraded to even iOS 4 out of fear of it slowing down the phone too much. The iPhone 3g will however charge with a specific car charger, but not through a computer or wall outlets. I am looking to be able to get it to connect to iTunes so that I can back it up. I have already tried the following things.
-turning the phone off and then on again
-resetting the phone by holding down the lock button and home button
-I have tried using different USB cables and diferent USB ports (all of which work perfectly with the iPhone 4)
-I have also tried using different computers; one windows, and one a Mac(iPhone 4 connects to both, but the 3g does not) (the Mac does have the most recent version of iTunes, but i'm not sure about the toshiba)
-I have tried restarting the computers
Even if there is a problem with the phone I need to be able to find a way to back up all of the contacts and photos that are on there before switching to a newer iPhone. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Nope not even then
I've tried using different cables and adaptors too

  • My iPod  4th gen. won't charge or connect to iTunes,What do I do?

My iPod 4g hasn't been recongize by iTunes and it won't charge when it is pluged into my wall or pc.I'm struggling to find a way to fix it.
It has been like this since yesterday and nothing had changed.I plugged it into the wall also and still it won't charge. What should I do?I'm desperate for answers.

After charging for half an hour, reset the iPod and connect the iPod to the syncing computer and try to restore the iPod.
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.o
    - If iTunes does not see the iPod, place the iPod in recovery mode and then try to restore the iPOd.  For recovery mode see:

  • Iphone won't charge or connect to itunes

My iphone 4 won't connect to itunes or charge anymore.  The last time it connect to itunes was before the ios 6.1 upgrade.  But, i was starting to have problems before that. Sometimes it would charge and other times not. Now, nothing...I've tried different cables, laptop, pc ect.  I've tried a reboot. Nothing.  Now my batterie is running out fast and I'm out of warranty!  Any suggestions ?

Sounds like it needs the port repaired.   If its' covered bring it back to Apple, if not, you'll need to find a repair shop.

  • Ipod touch frozen, won't charge or connect with itunes

My ipod touch is 8 months old and is frozen. It just has the battery charge icon on display, have tried to restart holding the sleep / wake button and the start button but I still only get this icon. It won't charge when attached to my computer using the usb lead and it will not link to itunes. I have some photos on it which  I do not want to lose. What can I do?

Could be a Battery problem... If so you will need to take it in to the Apple Store or AASP...

  • My phone won't charge or connect to a PC....USB po...

It seems that I need my N900 replaced.  When connected to a charger it only charges for an instant and then disconnects. I have tried two chargers.  The phone also won't connect to my pc via USB.  The USB port looks ok, but clearly isn't working.
I'll call the phone insurers tomorrow and get a replacement :-(

Gentlemen, I honestly hope I am wrong about this but my interpretation of the issue is the user had a non-functional micro USB port on the N900.  I predict that the user is experiencing the initial symptoms of what will become yet another case of the micro USB disengaging itself from inside the device.  I respect the great advice pitchford and devj always give on this forum, and I think your responses to the issue are logical and technically sound, but I suspect they don't address what is really happening to this user.  It's interesting that none of the proposed solutions account for the possibility of a physical hardware problem, even after the mounting number of cases.  On the other hand, if there have been any software based problems causing a USB port to malfunction, I don't remember reading about them.
So, my suspicion is that the USB port is not working because its internal connection to the device is gradually coming undone.  I think it will eventually fall out of the device and I urge the user to take not to lose it so Nokia doesn't accuse you of abusing the device.  Have a look at the thread on this subject titled "hardware failure, mini USB port" you can search for it using my ID (N900lover) as a key.

  • IPod Won't do anything (won't charge or connect to itunes)

I have the Same problem we always have this with tech in our house! I came to find this problem after using a faulty socket box, I hadn't noticed that while my iPod was charging in my Belkin USB Adaptor that the Red Light on the Adaptor was flashing (Power On and Off) consistently because of the power not getting through to my adaptor, so while reading my tech magazine there was a rather loud 'BANG' so as you do you go and have a look so I pushed my charger in to the socket harder and the light did not come up on my iPod or my Adaptor meaning that something was wrong with the adaptor... So I checked my iPod and it would not switch on or do anything for that matter!
Please help me on this one guys, i'm not usually the one struggling with tech!
    (I'm using a Mac not a PC)

Guessing its just me with this problem and nobody can help...
Will be taking it to the Apple Store soon if problem persists just hoping that it will finally spring into life while I do some work...
Surely there is someone out there with the same problem?

If the iPhone won't charge when connected to the power adaptor or when connected to your computer, the cable may be bad.
