My phone won't make/receive calls after porting number over.

I bought and activated a prepaid phone.  It worked fine until the number I was wanting to keep got ported in.  Now it won't let me make or receive phone calls.  I have been on the phone with them for an hour now and keep getting routed around..........I have removed the SIM card multiple times (per their instructions).  Can anyone provide help with this?

I have been on the phone numerous times with customer service.  The problem lies with the fact that our phone says Roaming when we make a call.  It then wants us to add funds with a credit card.  But we paid for the one-month unlimited talk/text plan.  It has only been 7 days.  We have been told different things with each phone call. 1)our phone is bad.  2) We need to go to Walmart or similar and buy a verizon sim card (This is a brand new Verizon prepaid phone, why do we have to buy a sim card?)  3) Take it to the local Verizon store (which, by the way, does not handle or even know what to do with prepaid phones).  4)We've been told we have no service here.  (Texts seem to come through fine, as does the 4G.  Also, there have been a few times it does not say roaming when I want to make a call, and it works just fine.  This has happened twice in 4 days.  And only for the 2 phone calls.).  I have a prepaid Verizon Motorola Luge phone.  Phone number from tracfone was ported over on Thursday (3 days ago.)  We are unsure whether the ported number caused the problem, but we made 2 calls before that, and it went through fine for them, so we do have suspicion that the porting caused the problem.  I would guess it has something to do with the cell tower not working with the ported number somehow.

    Well 1, I guess it's not that important to you, 2, customer support generally closes at 11pm in the time zone you are in, 3, toll free and local calls are free in hotels, 4 there is limited support after hours.

  • SPA942 fails to receive calls after xfer

    Hi There, I have a problem at one customer site with the SPA942 phones.  After an incoming call is transfered to another extension, the phone then fails to receive calls - even after the transferred call has ended.  And in some cases the phone that received the transferred call also fails to receive future calls after the call has ended.  In both cases the phones will once again receive calls after the SIP registration has timed out and the phones automatically re-register.
    As a temporary fix to keep the customer happy I have had to lower the SIP registration period to 30s which is not ideal but drastically reduces the issue from occuring.
    Both phones have been upgraded to the latest firmware (6.1.5a) which has not fixed the problem.
    Besides this problem everything else works.
    Any suggestions on how to fix this or troubleshoot for more info would be really appreceiated

    Do you have SPA900? If not, this is your VOIP provider's concern. If ever you have SPA9000 please try this:
    Force Media Proxy: set it to YES
    then
    SEND RESPONSE to SRC port.

  • My kitchen phone rings, I can receive calls, I cannot make any (on that phone)

    This makes no sense at all. It only affects the phone in my kichen. All phones in the house work. The computer modem works. I unplugged all jacks, waited 5 minutes (to see if it would reset anything).  I then plugged all phones back in.  Then the kitchen phone went completely dead. No dial tone, no nothing.
    I then tried switching phones, (to see if it was the phone). This phone worked on all other phone lines in the house. I tried changing the connection cords. It's not those either. So it's not the phone, it's not the connection.  I got a dead line.
    Or so I thought. I had a hunch it might be related to the wall filter.  I tried to remove the filter. How on earth do you get this thing off?
    IK can't do it.
    All of a sudden a few minutes ago, I went over to the phone, picked up the handset and what do you know?  I GOT A DIAL TONE.
    Still can't call out.  I tried.  When I depress the kieys, I still get a dial tone.  I then took my cell phone, told my husband to phone me in the kitchen.  The kitchen phone rang, I picked it up, I TALKED TO MY HUSBAND.
    So essentially I have a kitchen phone that I can receive calls on, but not making any calls on.
    And this phone was dead one hour ago.
    Any comments are welcome.
    I am thorougly confused.  I tried calling up Verizon, but they want $91 to come to my house plus additional charges.
    I am on Social Security, give me a break.

    Hi Melodyl... Your saying all other phones in the house are able to dial in & out with no problem except for the kitchen?
    If so it sounds to me like its either the wiring to that one jack in the kitchen or the kitchen phone itself might be defective or on its way out. Let us know. Thanks Brett

    So I was turning my phone on and I accidentally brought up a white screen that gave me several options including Clear Storage, Factory Reset and Fastboot. Entirely by accident, I selected "Clear Storage". As soon as I realized my mistake, I quickly removed the battery. However, upon restarting my phone, I found that I could not make/receive calls or send/receive texts. Before going to my local Verizon store tomorrow, I wanted to know if there was anything I could do to remedy this issue myself. Any help would be appreciated.

    Same thing here.  I'm getting very frustrated.  When I swipe phone to open, and hit the phone icon, then make a call, most times it says "calling mobile" but then nothing happens.  Then I try to end the call and hit the END button.  Sure, it looks like the call disconnected, but as soon as I try to make another call, I see the same screen (the first called) and the words "calling mobile".  The only way I can rememdy this, naturally, is powering off and restarting.  But, c'mon...$300 for a phone that you have to power down between calls???
    I've got the latest OS update, no jailbreak, or anything exotic on my 4s.  What's more, when I try to make a call 2 out of 3 times, the dumb SIRI opens up and stops me from making the call.  (and, yes, I have very carefully checked my process that I am not intentionally activating SIRI with my cheek.)
    Again, $300 for all this in just trying to make a call?

    reset your phonr by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

    You may have a bad sim, contact your phone carrier and see if you can get a new one.

  • Multiple Verizon Customers can't make/receive calls

    Me, my wife, and 2 other Verizon customers in our neighborhood are having problems. We can connect to 3g, have good signal for the most part, but we can't make or receive calls or text messages. I, my wife, and one friend all have the 4s, for sure, and I have another friend in the neighborhood (model unknown) who is experiencing the same problem. We can connect to 3g, but can't make/receive calls or texts over CDMA (apparently). I've hit the "Extended" network a few times and made calls. My Verizon signal is and has always been 50%-75% usually, with 100% sometimes. My friend says his daugher's iPhone 4 is working without issues.
    When we get away from home, our phones work fine. My biggest concern is safety, since we have no landline at home. It's been this way since I've got home 330 p.m. Friday. Going on 48 hours now.
    I would have called customer service, but....

    This is a customer-to-customer forum, not Customer Service.  Have you tried contacting Customer Service via some else's phone or by going to the local Corporate store?  Maybe there's an outage in your area?

    Brand new 5s- sometimes phone numbers display when receiving calls and texts instead of contact name. Hard to know who is calling/texting! A few times I've tapped on the text message icon and I can actually watch as the conversations turn from showing just numbers to the contact names. Same thing when looking at call history and voice mail- sometimes it shows numbers and then I'll go back and the contacts will be back. So frustrating!

    You don't dial *228 to update the Preferred Roaming List on 4G phones; I"m surprised the call went through.  The PRL updates are handled by the SIM card. 
    Try this and see if it helps:  turn off the phone, remove the SIM card, and wait a few minutes.  Then re-insert the SIM card, turn the phone back on, and give the phone a few minutes to re-establish a network connection.

    Well it happens to me 3 times with the iphone since I update it to IOS 6. Now I notice the same problem with my macbook air. I was able to resolve this isue with the computer. But on the iphone and have to restore the phone three times and it happens again. Those butoms up and down volume it seems that they do not work at all.

    Same issue on my wife's iPhone 4S. I suspect it is related to the recent 6.1.2 iOS update (Note: I have a 3S and the update did not cause any issues).
    I've tested both bottom and top mics on the 4S using video recorder and both mics work fine. Speakerphone and headset during calls also work fine. The issue is only related to the bottom mic while making calls. I can hear the caller but the caller cannot hear me. If I hold the mic very close to my mouth, the caller can hear a very low level signal.
    The problem appears to be software related, not hardware.
