My photo book won't print. Arrrrrgh!

I'm using 8.1.2 424 version of iPhoto. I've created a photo album I want to order, but it keeps telling me I need an Apple Account with 1-click ordering enabled. I've done this, but now it tells me my apple id can't be used for 1-click ordering.
It's driving me mad!
Can someone tell me from start to finish what I need to do to get this **** thing printed!
I'm in the Uk and I'm using OSX 10.9.3

First go into iPhoto's Advanced preference pane and confirm that the Print Product Store for the UK.
If that doesn't clear up the problem click on the Store button at the top and then on the Accounts link in the next window at the far right:
Click on View Account.  Remove and reenter all of the information regarding your credit card, billing address, etc. and confirm that 1-click purchasing is enabled.  Then try again.
Note:  before ordering create a PDF preview of the book via this Apple document: iPhoto, Aperture: Previewing an order in iPhoto or Aperture. Check it for errors and when satisfied the book is ready to order keep a copy of the PDF file to compare to the printed copy when it arrives.

  • Aperture: photo book won't print

When I click to order a photo book or want to print it, there is a warning of missing links and lower quality pictures. I would like to order nontheless. How can I do that?

If it is only a warning, you can proceed on your own risk and ignore the warning, but probably you wan't like the results.
I'd recommend to print the book to pdf first, and to browse the pdf-file, so you will see exactly what you will get for your money, and frankly, if there are missing links, there will be pictures missing from book. Why not repair those links first?

  • Epson Stylus Photo R2400 won't print large pages?

I recently upgraded to Mac OS X Leopard. I immediately had problems with printing to my Epson Stylus Photo R2400 as a print driver gutenprint had suddenly replace my Epson driver when going thu dialog to print. Called and Epson and they got me thru process of getting rid of the newly replaced gutenprint to an Epson driver. Problem is I can't print anything larger than an 8.5x11 page. The printer set up says and shows me that what I have set as an 11x17 or 13x19 is going to print. But all that prints on this large expensive paper is an area 8.5x8.5. No matter what I change in set up. Epson says they have done all they can do. (And I just found out last week they have replaced this printer with another printer). I have hundreds of dollars in newly purchased inks and I am wasting expensive paper.
Also I had to remove the patch for OS leopard to get the printer to work in this diminished capacity.
And my email signature disappeared. Can't get that back either.
But printer is my biggest problem. Any suggestions how to get this printer to work with this new OS leopard and print large sizes? I have deadlines and hate to outsource the printing when I could easily do it in house.

Well, you picked the very hardest way to do it, and as time goes on, you will probably discover many other things wrong with your system as well. You CANNOT go back to Tiger from Leopard via an archive and install; you have to wipe the drive and start over from scratch, and then transfer all your data over from a backup and reinstall most, if not all, of your applications so the right elements are in the right places. Even so you'll never get your system exactly back to where it was, unless you had a perfect bootable Tiger backup (via SuperDuper) and merely restored from that. Obviously whatever Leopard element that killed your printing capability is still on your frankenstein system of BOTH Tiger and Leopard parts.
There are hundreds of posts on the issue of reverting to Tiger from Leopard, many quite detailed. So many things are changed from upgrading from one to the other that what you attempted (unless you completely wiped the drive and all your data) has always proven disastrous, which is why I highly recommended against it after reading hundreds of horror stories here.
I suggest doing a search at downgrading from Leopard to Tiger, following those instructions if you can, and making the best of it. You'll find that springing the $200 for an external drive would have been a much better and easier solution, because it can come in very handy if you ever need to do any maintenance on your internal hard drive, or if some update or problems kill your internal drive and you can't even boot the system. Not to mention sooner or later always needing more storage capability, and even a drive for reliable backups.
I would never dream of attempting a downgrade or needing to do it in the first place (having taken precautions as to never have to), so I can't give you any further advice than that.

  • The best photo book and canvas printing companies

I'm researching where to buy photo books, canvases, even announcement cards for future clients, and want to hear fellow photographer's suggestions. I would appreciate any and all suggestions!
    Thanks in advance,
    Kara

    Karen:
Regarding the dpi prefs that Ricktoronto mentioned download and run Pref Setter. Bring up the iPhoto preference file in it and the do a search for dpi in the search field at the top. The three settings you want to change to 300 are BookTargetImageDPI, BookTargetImageMediumDPI and BookTargetImageSmallDPI. After changing the current values to 300 do a save and quit Pref Setter. That's all you need to do.
You might want to think about these numbers. If you want an 1 page picture in a book it will be about 8 x 10.6. At 300 dpi you should have 2400 x 3200 pixels. To get a 4x6 scanned image so it will be close to 300 dpi if enlarged to the 8x10.6 (Apple uses 4:3 ratio and that would make it 8 x 10.6 or so) you'd need to scan it at 3200/6 or about 530 dpi.
All of my books have been made with digital images from my camera that ranged from 1600 x 1200 to 2272 x 1704 and all of the photos came out very good. All of my books have been in the Story Book theme.

  • Address Book Won't Print to file or printer or PDF

    Greetings -
Using 10.4.8 on MacBook Pro 17" - Address Book will not print to the printer or to a PDF file when I attempt to print ALL of the addresses. It works for just 1 address. I didn't try 50, 60, etc. to see where it stops. I have about 750 names/contacts.
Archived here is the same question, but with no answers given.
    Help!
    David

I have giving up on syncing contacts. In my iMac Address Book, everything is correctly entered and formatted to suit the country where the contact lives. But MobileMe appers to allow you to select only the US, France, Germany and Japan, I think. Other countries seem to default to a US format. Despite the opening of yet another Apple Shop in the UK—in Covent Garden—MobileMe apparently can't recognize a UK address. What seems to happen when I try to sync addresses is that MobileMe thinks it has found different address entries on my coputers, and tries to replace what are correct formats with incorrect ones.
I have just been right through my iMac Address Book, and the MobileMe contact list, and made sure that the data was entered in the same order. The only difference in the two lists was that the Address Book had address data correctly formatted for country in which the contact lives. Yet when asking for the Address Book to sync with MobileMe, the system says it wants to add 109 new contacts and delete a handful of others. These 109 addresses would either be duplicates of existing contacts, or replacements with the address formatting pushed into a US format.
There has been another problem. Some time ago I found that the MobileMe contact list was full of duplicates in which the same data was displayed twice in a different order or a different format.
Unless I am missing something, it seems that syncing using MobileMe, with its lack of address formatting options, is useless for anyone living outside the US, France, Germany or Japan, and useless for them if they happen to have any foreign friends.
Apple seems unconcerned about this. Surely they must have realized that syncing contacts wouldn't work for many, perhaps most, users, yet they continue to promote it as a simple and effective option.
    Or am I missing something?

  • Photos just won't print right

My Office Jet Pro 7780 just cannot print photos correctly - the color balance is all wrong, edges of objects in the photo are jagged/streaked, and the whole picture is blurry.  There are no lines or patterns in the print itself that would indicate a mechanical problemI have run both the self-test diagnostics and the print quality diagnostics and they come out great ie printhead health, test patterns, etc all great.  This machine has only printed 4135 pages (99.9% B&W) in its lifespan of just under 2 years so its not worn out by any means.  I have tried every size of print, level of print quality, DPI, and type of paper I can think of and it still just looks crummy.  Any ideas??

This sounds like the library6.iphoto file is hoplessly corrupted. If you cannot select the file then it's broken, I'm afraid.
The procedure to recreate a library is as follows:
Note this will give you a working library with the same film rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, books, calendars etc.
Move the iPhoto Library Folder to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library Folder on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual rolls to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library Folder on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • Photo book - who can print my book in australia?

I have created a storybook from my photos in Photoshop elements and want to get it professionally printed as a book.  Places like snapfish can do it but they require you to use their software.  Does anyone know someone who will print it from a pdf or a *.pse file that I can create?  Or is there another format in elements I could use?  Ideally they would be in Australia but perhaps even overseas
    Thanks
    Mamma Mia

If there is a company out there that does this in Australia, they have a web site.  And, that web site is indexed by Google.  So go to Google and type in some key words that would be on the web site of a company that prints books for individuals.  Key words like "book," "print," "Australia," and "thermonuclear fusion" come to mind.
I've been a professional writer for 28 years, and I've heard about this sort of thing.  It's called "vanity press".  Basically, these companies will print whatever you want, and print as many copies as you want.
You may be limiting yourself too much by requiring the company to be in Australia.  Basically, why do you care where they are located?  You are going to send them one or more high-quality pdfs by e-mail.  On their web site, you are going to type in your name, address, and credit card information.  Then they will ship you as many copies of the resulting hardbound books as you have ordered.  They could be in the U.S., Canada, or Serbo-Croatia for all you care.  The shipping charge may be more, but you will have a much wider selection of venders.
The reason why I wrote "one or more high-quality pdfs" is because you probably will have a lot of pictures in your book.  It's easy to compress a large document with many pictures into a 15 megabyte file - the largest size that you can e-mail.  But you should consider whether the pictures in that compressed document are still of sufficient quality for your needs.  So open the final compressed pdf and print several of the pictures on your own printer.  Are you satisfied with the quality of these pictures?  If you aren't, then export your original document into two (or three or four) higher-quality pdfs, and send them in multiple e-mails.
You are limited to about 15 megabytes on each e-mail.  That may sound like a lot, but it disappears quickly when you deal with high-quality pictures.
As I said, I'm a professional writer.  For years, my nephew has been bugging me to tell him what I did in Vietnam.  I was an Infantry pointman in Vietnam.  I was the first one to walk down the jungle path.  I was wounded seven times.  Because of public hostility towards Vietnam veterans, I hid what I did.  So after I retired, I thought I'd just write up what I did for my nephew.  How long could it take - five or ten pages?  The problem with being a professional writer - is that you write.  The final document in InDesign was 200 pages long, and had 100 pictures.  The final document also was 57 megabytes in size.
In InDesign, you can choose how compressed a pdf of the final document will be.  You can choose a little compression, which would result in a large pdf, or a lot of compression, and a small pdf.  Since I had no intention of ever printing the document, I choose the maximum compression for the pdf.  The document size went from 57 megabytes to a pdf of 11 megabytes.  That was perfect for e-mailing to my nephew - but clearly some of the picture quality had been sacrificed.  My nephew didn't care, but the picture quality probably would have been noticeable if it had been printed into a "real book".

  • Address Book won't print

I have previously printed lists from my address book without difficulty. Suddenly, when I choose File>Print, nothing happens. Nothing shows up in the print cue. Can anyone help?

    Bronson, thanks.
I have just downloaded the easy envelopes widget looks good but..... The country held in the Address Book does not appear. I can edit the address in the widget but it would be easier if it would appear on it's own.

  • Print does not show a selected photo and won't print

How do I get my photos printed? I select a photo but I get the maessage that no photo was selected.

I finally called the help desk. I was told that sometimes the catalog needs to be reloaded. Instead of reloading the catalog, i ended up loading my entire library. Over 4200 pictures. This was without any filtering. But now the print feature works.
Next I will need to figure out how get out all of the duplicates. Set up filters and get organized. I am new at this so after spending over 30 hours watching how to videos I am a little overwhelmed.
It would be nice if the help desk guy could speak English. Well, English  that I could understand. Poor guy had to repeat everything several times. I asked if he could get me organized. Nope. Had to call back. That means sitting on hold for an hour and a half....but hey I have another 30 days of support. I am going to learn this. Although I am now convinced that I am dain bramaged and beyond help. Now how to get the e-mail notification turned off.. 50 e-mails a day. Isn't this fun.

  • Epson Stylus Photo 700 won't print in OS 9.2

    HI,
I got my usb to parallel adapter to work with my Stylus Photo 700 on my Blueberry with OS 10.3.9 and usbtb and gimp=Print. I have been trying to figure out how to get it to work in the classic environment-9.2.2. The Epson window comes up and Ii have access to utilities there but the "*printer is not available*"
Any ideas how to overcome that little problem?
    Thanks,
    Warren McNeely

    If this article doesn't work:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300849
Then you need a Mac OS 9 version of both the printer driver and the USB to Parallel adapter. Unfortunately the company that makes the older version of the driver has a website domain that no longer works if Keyspan's drivers don't work. That company was Strydent, and their driver was called Powerprint. You may want to toss that printer and get one known to work in the Classic environment. Only Canon has on their support pages listings of printers that do work in the Classic environment. You may find more info that is relevant on my FAQ*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/printersx.html
You may be able to find someone whos still has Strydent's software, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

  • Net book won't print

I have a HP netbook mini computer running Win 7 starter and a brand new HP 8100 Eprinter.  Because I could not get the netbook to print to the old HP officejet j6480 printer that it had printed to for years I decided to connect it to the new out of box  never used printer.  Unfortunately the program (which I used an external cd drive to load) said that the printer was successfully installed but I cannot print.  The same thing is happening that happened with the old printer.  The device manager sees the printers, says they are working,  -- a test page goes right to the appropriate queue but nothing ever prints!  HELP

Hello @RKWM , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are experiencing print interruption issues.  I would like to help!
I'd recommend starting with a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would also recommend downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • How to print a Photo Book to an online service?

How do I go about ordering a photo book from any of the on line services when the program will only save my created book in the pse file format and none of the services recognize that format.  I have tried several services and can't fine one that will allow me to upload my files in the proper way.  The services don't allow me the creativity that I bought the PSElements for.  Since losing Kodak I am stuck.  Will Elements 11 solve this problem?  I would rather not have to relearn the whole program again at this time.  Thanks for any help you can give.
Message title was edited by: Brett N

Basically, you have to create the Photo Book in the format of a print service (which print service you have availble depends on the version of Photoshop Elements you are using). If you create a Photo Book using the "Print Locally" template, you will not be able to send it to a print service because it will be in the PSE format. For PSE11, the online printer we use is shutterfly.
With a PSE file, there is a companion folder that has a PSD file for each page. These can generally be used by print services, or they can be convered to a supported file format with Process Multiple Files under the File menu.

  • Sync photo book print project between two Macs?

I have two Macs synced using iCloud Photo Library which works great.  I noticed that the Photo Books (and other print products) don't sync.  Is there a way to find that file in the Package Contents and copy it over to my other Mac?  Probably not the safest thing to do but I would love to be able to work on my photo book on multiple Macs.  If not I guess I could put my library on an external drive and use access the same library from both Macs.
    Thanks.

I have a WD 750gb Hard Drive on my imac partitioned 2 times 500gb for time machine and 250 just for FCE scratch disk files. I can log on to my macbook via wireless network and transfer files back and forth. I'm just not sure of all the files FCE uses when working on a movie. I think if I knew what files they are I could lump them together in one folder and copy that folder back and forth to each other via wireless. As long as path is the same on both mac. I'm just not sure and need someone that's maybe been there.

Wireless connection is a bad idea as data rate transfer speed needed for video material is pretty fast. I'm sure that your macbook air hard drive is not designed to give a sustained data rate tranfer speed for a such usage.
Partitionning is a bad idea too as your internal drive has to seek for data stored on 2 logical locations fitted on just one physical support. It seems many many actuator stop and go and less efficient data rate transfer speed.
I maintain my suggestion, go for a dedicated external hard drive where you will put all media related to your project AND the project file itself. If FCE is correctly installed on both mac, your project will open flawlessly from one mac or other.

  • Color profiles for I photo books

Is there a desired color profile to use for printing books with i photo
My images are currently adobe-rgb. jpegs brought in from CS
When I print the images thru CS they look great.
When i print them thru I photo book or the PDF they look very dark and muddy...and would assume the same of the book printing online.
any ideas on how to get the best print.
Is there a color profile availabe from the online book printers or are we just winging it
Also tried converting one page to S-RGB Still Muddy / dark thru i photo book
and PDF Print. And just fine thru CS
    Any Ideas??
    Thank you

I guess I am going to throw caution to the wind and see what happens.
Only one way to find out, Right
Though I did go back and lighten my images. Also
Ran color synch utility, which fixed 11 corrupt color profiles.(none of the 11 profiles pertained to i photo)
I guess I am afraid to use pref setter,, to set the key embed color profile.
Confused as to what that means??? Does that mean that all my CS Adobe-RGB jpegs will keep their color profile???
Also implanted one image as an SRGB vs the rest which will all be AdobeRGB
Oddly my color management in CS is almost Flawless. Yet, get me out of CS and I am completely lost!!!! Complicated stuff
Toad, I did want to pass on that AdobeRGB 1998 is a much more robust color profile then SRGB especially when it come to printing on Epson. It might be worth experimenting with and if you really want to get into it there is also
Pro photo RGB which is Huge color space, but a beast to work with
    Here is a link

No.  Apple only keeps the pdf file for a book for 30 days.  Without the library and book project you won't be able to reorder the same book.
Even though the horse is out of the barn the following tutorial might be of help for future books, i.e. create a new library for each book): iP08 - Archiving an iPhoto Book for Editing and/or Ordering at a Later Date
