  • Photos not appearing after iCloud restore

My previous iPad 2 was fully backed up on iCloud.  It failed and was replaced by Apple for a new one. I did an iCloud restore, which seemed like no problem, and no pictures showing up on new iPad. Message that it was downloading X # of photos, but nothing. Tried a restore on another spare iPod, and this time, no photos and no message about the # of photos. Repeated both 2 or 3 times. Same thing as before on each one. Any ideas?

A response I put together from another post. Also going into iTunes and choosing to sync phone to iCloud then back "this computer" sometimes works.
First thing.. Stop where you are. Don't try to sync, update, hard reset, iCloud... Just stop.
Check on your phone under 'SETTINGS' 'GENERAL' USAGE'. It should show some value for PHOTOSTREAM. Also, connect to iTunes and you will notice at the bottom of your phones summary page that there is a large amount of 'OTHER' data.
I used third party software called iExplorer (formerly iPhone explorer). In this program you select 'MEDIA FOLDER', then 'DCIM'. In the various apple folders (IE: 101APPLE) you should be able to preview your photos and copy them to your desktop.
From there sync them back to your device through iTunes or whatever method you use.
There is a simpler solution I'm sure, which may involve using iExplorer to delete some .plist files then restart the phone and let it rebuild. I'm going to try it myself AFTER I've finished copying all the photos to my MAC
    Hope this helps.

  • Syncing with iTunes after iCloud Restore Syncs Unwanted Apps

After I had restored my iPhones using a recent iCloud backup, some of my content such as certain videos and music needed to be installed through syncing with iTunes. All of my apps were arranged and installed as they were before the resoration. I had iTunes set to not automatically begin to sync when I plug in any of my iOS devices, so I can review the device first and then begin the sync. Upon plugging in my iPhone, I checked the applications tab, and all of the apps were arranged the way they were when I would unlock my iPhone; everything seemed normal. It would appear that the content that had not been restored through the iCloud restore would simply be installed though syncing with iTunes. The second I hit sync, iTunes began to restore my iPhone with a very early sync, as many of the apps I had deleted some time ago were being installed onto my phone, and my of the applications added since that specific sync were removed. What can I do to just have iTunes act as it should when finishing the restoration on my phone and not default to a stubborn sync? I'm currently restoring my phone from another recent iCloud backup to have all of my apps and their settings restored to how they were less than 12 hours ago.

First make sure you have the most recent version of iTunes. Use the itunes menu to check for updates and install the latest version if needed.
Reboot your computer and rest your iphone. Press and hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the buttons and let the device restart. No data will be lost doing this. It's like rebooting a computer.

  • ITunes sync after iCloud restore

So after retoring from an iCloud backup, I found that I can't sync apps with my computer without deleting all of them from my iPhone? Anyone find a worksround to this?

Thanks! I was hoping there was a way to store page/folder info for apps too, but this is more than fine.
Looks like the backup includes all the user data for each app as well (or it's stored somewhere, anyway), since all the app configs and data seem to be there when I re-download the app. Nice!
Followup question: what is "transfer purchases" for if you can't transfer them back to the device after a restore? I'm not complaining, just asking. What can you do with the transferred purchases?

  • Can I retrieve my photos from iphone after factory restore?  Will the photos be included in my last back-up?

Can I retrieve photos from iphone 4 after factory restore?

I connected to my computer to back up and update my iOS.  At the time I connected to my computer, it also said I needed to update my itunes.  So, I updated itunes, then went ahead with downloading and installing the updated iOS.  It says that my last back up was today, and now my only option is to restore to factory settings.  My concern is being able to get back all of my info.  Now, it shows a screen on my iphone with a USB cable and and arrow to the itunes icon.

  • IPhone 5s photo folder missing after update

After the update, the folder containing all of my photos is missing. There is now a folder called recently added in its place.
The pictures are still on the phone as I can find them in the gallery that is broken up into years.
How do I get my folder back? Please help.
    Thank you

A search of the forums would be a good place to start, it is certainly faster that registering, posting, and waiting for a response.
Reset the device by pressing and holding the home and power buttons until the white Apple logo appears.

  • Photo's missing after 3.5 to 3.6 upgrade

Hello, I upgraded from 3.5 to 3.6 this morning and now 3/4 of my photo's show as gray boxes in the panel at the bottom of the screen. I click on the little question mark near the box and it tells me that the photo is missing. the box next to the question mark tells me the previos location and asks me if I want to locate it. This is new as of the upgrade. What should I do? This is happening with a couple thousand photographs.
    Thank You,
    noobie

Can you please post a screen shot of the Folder Panel expanded out like this:
and one of the Explorer/Finder view of the same folders on your HD like this:
This will help see what is where and resolve the issue.

  • Mail not working after icloud restore to new handset

Hi all.I have a new  iPhone 5 handset replaced under warrenty with full icloud restore to the new handset. All is well except my mail wont work and is saying my password is incorrect. I have gone into settings and everything is as normal but i keep getting this pop up saying password is incorrect.Would anyone know of why this is happening. Many thanks in advance

If this is your iCloud email account, go to Settings>iCloud, turn Mail off, then turn it on again.
If it's a different email account, delete the account and recreate it again.

  • Calendar missing after iCloud

My husband has always used his iCal on his iPhone and it synced via MobileMe to the iCal on the iMac.
After iCloud, his calendar is on his phone "on my iPhone" but there's a new SECOND calendar - mostly empty, an iCloud calendar. HOWEVER, on the computer, only the iCloud calendar (the one he didn't create) shows up.
How can we merge the "on my iPhone" calendar he uses with the iCloud calendar? Or does he have to go through all his dates and add them to the iCloud calendar?
This whole iCloud thing has been a mess.

Sounds like you had some calendars not only local to your ipad ( "on my ipad" ), but also synced with other accounts - like may be yahoo or gmail. You should be able to get that calendar back by opening calendars app and clicking calendars in top left. Option that you may need to check "show all calendars" - see if that helps. It will also give you an idea what other calendars you have used.

  • Missing password message yahoo mail and Iphone after Icloud restore

I have deleted my yahoo account from the phone and rebooted and added account back and I am still having this issue. It started when I was switching from on Iphone to another and then restored from Icloud. Everything was working fine prior to this on the old phone.

If this is your iCloud email account, go to Settings>iCloud, turn Mail off, then turn it on again.
If it's a different email account, delete the account and recreate it again.

  • Whole photo library missing from iCloud

Connection to iCloud photo library and Mail has been flaky in the past 48 hours.
I noticed missing photos on the iphone last Saturday night for the first time.
All photos taken prior to October 14 have since then gone missing from the iPhone5S.
(pics are still available on my iPad3 and my iPhone4 running iOS 8 and 7 respectively).
Have been trying to check the content of my photo library on iCloud several times using Safari to no avail. Connection times-out and the support form appears.
Please note that I can login to my account no problem and all other services like Note, Reminders, iWorks documents, Calendars everything works just fine.
The problem appears to be related to only the photo library.
Tonight I have tried on more time to check if things were back to normal but even the photo library icon has now disappeared. (see below picture)
A clear sign that something is not working properly on the server side IMHO.
Interesting enough, iCloud system status is not reporting any problem with the servers and if I take a new picture with one device it syncs with the others.
After two days I am now getting a little impatient and wonder what else could I do to solve a problem that appears to be at Apple's end.
I have tried to contact online support but ironically they ask me for a serial number in order to proceed. It seems like iCloud customers (I am a paying one) are left on their own. Quite disappointing..
Any ideas as to what to do and/or how to report this malfunction?
    Thanks and regards
    Pieter

Things have started working again first on the iPhone but not on the Mac via the browser interface.
Later on the day I got the photo library icon up and down but still no access to the library.
Tonight things are finally back to normal. Thank you guys for pointing this out.
Surprisingly, still no acknowledgement of any kind from Apple's side regarding a server trouble, if any.
This was a severe blow to my trusting into this cloud service as well as a reminder to ALWAYS BACK-UP no matter what.
Better to be safe than to be sorry

  • Recently added photos/movies missing after closing iPhoto '09

I have iPhoto '09 (8.1.2 (424) running on an Intel iMac Core (1) Duo with Snow Leopard, all software updates current. Tonight I went to add several photos and movies to my iPhoto library (19,000+ photos). They imported fine. I moved some around with respect to events, fixed some dates, but did no photo edits. Then I closed iPhoto. When I opened it back up, all of the recently added photos were gone. The "Last Import" said "(0)". I found the photos/movies sitting in my iPhoto library in the file structure and could open them up and view them with Preview or Quicktime, respectively. But iPhoto didn't know they were there. I tried to drag and drop them into iPhoto again and it wouldn't let me, saying they are already in the library. I was able to reimport from the original location on my desktop and after closing and re-opening, same thing, no photos in iPhoto but another copy of them in the "iPhoto Library package > Originals > 2011 > ..."
This is repeatable. I can delete the folders I added then reimport and after closing and re-opening, nothing. I've rebuilt the library 2 times using command+option with all options selected except "rebuild from automatic backups." I can drag just one image into iPhoto from the bunch and it disappears to after a close+reopen. I have not yet tried to do a camera-based import. These are files on my desktop.
Lastly, I think this may be a red herring, but I just recovered from a HD crash last week. I got a new HD installed by professionals and did all the new installs to Snow Leopard and restore from my time machine backups myself. Everything looks/works like it did before the crash, except one of the user's (4 of us on this machine) desktop was missing their background pic and had to re-add it. All the other user's desktop pics were fine. This desktop pic was associated with the iphoto library I'm having the problem with. I just realized after talking with my wife that all the pictures she has added since the crash have had the same behaviour and are sitting in the iphoto library package but are not in the iPhoto library "viewer" when iPhoto is open.

    The Library database is corrupted.
Best option: restore from back up. Otherwise:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .
    Regards
    TD

  • Why is my iPhone 5s stuck after icloud restore

Hey I got my new iPhone 5s. This is my second one tho, but after I pressed to restore my setting from icloud to this new phone its started. I got an apple logo with a bar which won't go further and stays arount 5%. I've tried to press the sleep and home button at the same time but once I start it again it just stops again at the same place. Someone who knows how to fix this?

I suggest that you put your phone into recovery mode. Here's an Apple support page that explains this process. It needs to be followed step by step very carefully. Even then it may take several tries before the device enters Recovery Mode.

  • Photo's missing after back-up from TM

I've recently had to reinstall my hard drive from time machine and have found that a number of photo's are missing in iPhoto.
I had spent a considerable amount of time creating new albums from newly scanned and edited images which are missing. The most recent albums are on my ipad and iphone as I had backed-up to time machine the night before and updated my ipad and iphone, but for some reason my MBP is not properly updated.
I'm sure that I've reinstalled my MBP from the correct version in time machine.
    Any suggestions are appreciated.
    cheers

    Thanks again Eric.
Re Cloud / photo stream: I've tried to set-up cloud / photo stream, but I'm unsure if this is possible using iPhoto 9, or if this would work. Under System Preferences / iCloud, I'm unable to tick photo stream even though it shows up, albeit faded.
Re iTunes: If I understand your suggestion properly, this option is only available for photo's in the camera roll. The photo's I'm trying to move from my iPod to MBP are in the photo / album section of the iPod which doesn't show up as an option.
Re iTune apps: I found SimpTransfer and have given it a go, but feel there might be a better way.
Also, I've tried opening iPhoto with command / option pressed, but I think this wasn't reading the iPod, rather it was going through iPhoto only. As a back-up plan, I'm transferring photo's from the iPad to DropBox, but this is slow going and the dates / labels don't transfer across (I had dated and labled most of these images and am hoping this will transfer across from the iPod to MBP.
thanks again in advance for any further advice.
    cheers
