My Photo on EP6 SP2 Patch Level 31
We have recently being doing some patching and have struck and unexpected problem. Under the Personal Information Workset and Location iView you can attach a picture of yourself. Previously we were able to delete that picture but after pacthing we have lost the delete option and now can only replace it. Is this deliberate or has something gone wrong during our upgrade?
Anybody have any ideas?

Hi ranger,
1. You need SAP Note 722890 to solve the Symptom: "SAPinst or process started by SAPinst terminates abnormally", so it's not needed when everything works fine!
2. You should log in as a user with super user (root) permission as stated in the installation guide. <b>But: only use root during the installation for runing sapinst. Afterwards su to j2eeadm and start the portal!</b>
3. The J2EE Engine should be running, but the IRJ application must be stopped!
Hope this helps,
Robert
PS: If you face problems as mentioned in 1., I can provide you with the SAP Note (by mail).

Enhancements made in EP6 SP2 patches 28 & 29.
What are the enhancements made in EP6 SP2 patches 28 & 29.
What I mean to say is that what are the new features added in Patches 28 & 29. here I exclude Bug fixes.
I can go to the central note for patch 28 : 793582 and can get a list of notes which indicate bug fixes done in Patch 28
Similar way, I can go to the central note for patch 29 : 803871 and can get a list of notes which indicate bug fixes done in Patch 29
What I am really concerned is regarding new features added in these two patches (Patch 28 & 29) separately.
Are there any new features added in these two Patch releases. If yes, Where are they documented.
Are they documented separately or their respective guides are updated.
Your help is really appreciated.Hi Robert, hi Suneel,
> Patch 28 & 29 are not listed there yet.
Not quite right, Robert, I don't know what a dreadfully old version you have looked on... It is listed, but it is explicitely said that both patches, 28 & 29, have
"no new features or enhancements to existing functionality. It is cumulative as of Patch 5. Please refer to Patch 5 and Patch 27 documentation for information about previous enhancements."
The document is retrievable without access to service.sap.com: http://help.sap.com/download/documentation/netweaver/ep/FeaturesEP6SP2Patches_v2.5.pdf
It's a pity that SAP publishes the version name within the link, so if a new version exists, one has to know (or to look via service.sap.com).
Hope it helps
Detlev
PS: Suneel, please consider rewarding points for people like Robert Thanks in advance -

EP6 SP2 Patch 4: Default Framework for innerpage corrupt
Hi,
we just installed Patch 4 and Hotfix 5 in a cluster environment on Unix. Everything went (almost) fine (eg. the SAPInst installer started the portal as user root which produced some error after our restart, but we could fix that).
The only "interesting" problem we had was, that the default framework for the portal (which is needed for the innerpage) was corrupt (or at least if we open this framework in the portal we can see only the narrow section of the framework -- and not the "narrow - wide" layout as it should be; the effect was, that all content of the innerpage was displayed in a very small area).
This was no real problem for us since we were already using a modified layout, but it still would be interesting to know if anybody else experienced this kind of behavior and perhaps knows a fix for that. I looked through the OSS notes, but couldn't find anything.
Best regards,
Holger.Did you find a resolution for this behavior?

Repointing "Help" link to a different source in EP6 SP2
Hi all,
I am using EP6 SP2 Patch 4 HF 7. I need to re-point the "Help" link in the top of EP6 SP2 to an different source. Presently it is pointing to http://help.sap.com and since mine is an intranet portal..cannot point to that.
Any idea where do I have to change the link ?
Regards,
Rajan.KHi!
You can customize this link by editing:
Content Administration - Portal Content - Portal Content - Portal Users - Standart Portal Users - Default Framework Page.
In popup menu choose "Edit". Select "Masthead iView" and press "Edit" link. Then in "Property Category" choose "Navigation" and in "Help Link URL" enter link you preffer.

Hi
Can you use webdynpro applications with EP6 SP2 Patch 27 and above. This is running on J2EE 6.20
Thanks
DarrellHi,
It depends on what are you mean by "running"
You can take WAS 6.40 ,deploy WD app on it, define this WAS 6.40 server on your EP6 SP2 SLD and then make an WD iView in you portal which will consume WD application from WAS 6.40. This means that all "buisness logic" would be performed on WAS 6.40 and you portal will only "view" the application. However you can use portal APIs (like Client Side Eventing) in this scenario.
On the other side you don't have a WD runtime on WAS 6.20, so you can't deploy WD application on WAS 6.20
Hope it hepls.

Error: Current patch level of database is unknown. Use latest dbpatch build
hi,
I am applying EP6SP2 CM&COLL patch 5 DBPATCH.
current portal version: version=6.0.2.29.0
current C&COLL version: CM_COLL version=60 SP2 Patch 5
Before applying this patch, i applied CM&COLL patch 4 hotfix 8 and the DBPATCH included in tht. Now, after applying CM&COLL patch 5, i tried to apply DBPATCH which comes with CMOLL patch5 SAR file. My database is oracle database. While applying this patch i encountred following error:
<i>
Current database version: SP2.CM.SPs
ERROR: Error: Current patch level of database is unknown. Use the latest dbpatch build
java.lang.Exception: Error: Current patch level of database is unknown. Use the latest dbp
atch build.

at com.sapportals.wcm.tool.dbpatch.DBPatch.patch(DBPatch.java:66)
at com.sapportals.wcm.tool.dbpatch.DBPatch.main(DBPatch.java:26)
</i>
Now according to SAP Note 761224, they asked us to use updated DBPATCH attached to this note. But currently there are only 3 files attached of MSSQL. I want the updated ORACLE_DBPATCH files.
rgds,
NilzHi,
i m thru. i raised the question in OSS. They rectified the mistake and attached dbpatch_oracle.zip to SAP note 761224.

EP 6.0 SP2 Patch 27????
Hi,
just released in the service market place: patch 27 for EP 6.0 SP2. This is getting VERY confusing. See sapnote 774779 for details. The documentation they refer to is not yet available, but I would like to hear from SAP where this sudden re-numbering comes from! Are the portal patches now somehow related to the J2EE patch level?
Anyone?Naming Convention
Enterprise Portal 6.0 SP2 patches now have an improved naming convention. From this version on, portal patches are to be aligned with those of J2EE 6.20 and of Knowledge Management & Collaboration. It is, therefore, recommend that when upgrading your system to J2EE patch level XY, you also upgrade the portal to Patch XY.
One-Time Closing of the Gap
For the upcoming release of EP 6.0, the patch is designated as Patch 27, despite the fact that the previous patch was Patch 5. This one-time step aligns the patch numbering of the portal with that of J2EE Engine. Portal will not have patches 6-26.
Alignment with J2EE in Future Releases
The availability of future portal patches will be coordinated with that of J2EE Engine. Patches are expected every 5 weeks.
Improvement: Accumulation
From now on, portal patches will be cumulative. Each future patch will include all the fixes provided with previous patches, going back to and including portal Patch 5. In other words, the current patch (27) includes the fixes provided with Patch 5, which was released a few weeks ago. Hence: - If your installation is currently up-to-date with Patch 4, you can directly install the latest patch. - If your installation is not yet updated up to Patch 4, you must install Patch 4 first, and then you can continue to the latest patch available. Make sure that you upgrade to Patch 4 according to the instructions in the guide Installing Patch 4 for EP 6.0 SP2 since Patch 4 and its preceding patches are not cumulative.

Integrate CRM 4.0 and EP6 SP2
Hi,
Can anyone let me know the steps to integrate CRM 4.0 with EP6 SP2 on windows 2003 server.
Thanks in advance,
regards,
PayalPayal,
There is excellant documentation available at SAP Help site on this. Here is the top level link for SSO
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/89/6eb8deaf2f11d5993700508b6b8b11/frameset.htm
and here is a link to most common scenario
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/89/6eb8e7af2f11d5993700508b6b8b11/content.htm
Antoher thing it would be good to have access to BASIS skills while doing SSO to SAP Systems.
Cheers

Finding BI4 on UNIX Patch Level
Is there an easy way to determine the patch level of our UNIX SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence 4.0? Help about from the CMC shows Product: 14.0.0, but this does seem to be a patch level. I can't seem to find a reference to this in the help doc.
You've got a few options. If you're on the server, go to add/remove programs. You'll see the version there (patches show as separate items, so you will clearly see "BI platform 4.0 SP2 Patch 5")
If you're not on the server, go to the CMC, go to servers, right click on the Central Management Server and select Metrics. About the 11th item down is Version. You will see something like 14.0.2.439.
Then Google it.
Or click here: http://jdh2n.wordpress.com/category/business-intelligence/sap-businessobjects-4-0/ (Nice one, Jonathan Haun)

Any help is highly appreciated.
Warm Regards
Suneel RazdanHello
I have resolved it !!!
That's usually caused by the database not containing a valid config framework tree. In all cases so far this happened as part of the user killing the java vm in a situation where one should have waited for the cancel button to return.
I restored the target database with the backup
taken before started the migration and rerun the tool on
the target. You can continue to use the MigrationInput.zip file.

SAP-BO BI 4.0 SP2 (Patch 7)...?
Setting-up a new "Sandbox" server later this week on Windows Server 2008 (R2) - 64 bit OS.
It looks like the current version I should be deploying is SAP-BO BI 4.0 SP2 Patch 7.
Do I need to apply Patch 7 - or should I just use the regular SAP-BO BI 4.0 SP2 baseline for this Sandbox...?
Normally, we only install full SERVICE PACK levels - not PATCH LEVELS.
Thanks in advance for the advice.Hi Mark,
You would need to install SP2 first followed by Patch 2.7, or Patch 2.8 which is due out today or tomorrow.
If you can wait then you could also align with Feature Pack 3 which is the equivalent of SP3, but that is planned for Q1 2012
The following blog link also details SAP's patching policy.
http://blogs.sap.com/analytics/2011/10/07/sap-businessobjects-bi-release-plan-update/
I hope this is a very helpful answer to you.
Kind regards,

Portal_logger from EP6 SP2
Hi,
I used to watch the logger called portal_logger in EP6 SP2, but with the new log viewer I cannot find the same view. What is it called in NW04 ?

HenrikHi,
Logging console is now under visual administrator. Login to visual admin and under the Server node > Services click
on Log Configurator. Here you can set all the log levels.
