My photoobooth photos r no longer in the photo booth folder

the pics r there on the comp... and on the app as well as iphoto.... but cant find the folder where the photobooth photos are. they r not there in the photobooth folder in finder. this is after i upgraded to osxlion

Hey there Trishna51,
It sounds like you are seeing your photos grouped together by date, rather than the view you are used to seeing. From what you are describing, it seems like you are seeing either the Moments, or Collections view in the photos app. You can switch to the Camera Roll view in Albums located at the bottom of the Photos window:

  • Recents.plist file in my User/Pictures/Photo Booth folder?

When I use PhotoBooth, a preference file named Recents.plist forms inside my User/Pictures/Photo Booth folder along with the picture. Why is this happening and can it be stopped?

Hello and thanks again BDAqua for writing. Yes, if I delete this Photo Booth Recent.plist file it will come back in the same place in my User/Photo Booth folder after I take another picture in Photo Booth. After deleting the one that was created earlier this morning, a Spotlight search shows no other file named Recents.plist anywhere on my HD. Spotlight also shows no entries named Photo Booth except the application itself and the one in my User/Pictures folder. I have no Photo Booth folder you describe to hold this preference file in my User/Application Support folder at all. The last four weekly clones I've taken also have no Photo Booth folder in that Application Support folder.

  • Computers no longer find the users home folder.

I only know enough to make me dangerous.
    Im using System 10.5.5
I have a Mac lab set up with Open Directory. My users log on to their Home folders located on our server through computers registered in Workgroup Manager. All of this is working fine.
Whenever a user tries to log on from another computer, they can connect and get to a home folder, but it looks like a new one, their files are not there. Any ideas?

I found my answer in another posting.  There were two options.  The first didn't help but the second did but both still good information.
Ringtones library is now called Tones. If you don't see Tones under the Library, go to iTunes menu EDIT>Preferences>check the Tones box under General tab, sources then click ok
iTunes>View>Show Sidebar...Tones should be listed here under Library.

  • Is my photo booth movie permanently deleted when I push x in the thumbnail?

I pushed x in the thumbnail of a movie I was watching in photo booth because I thought it would pause it. Without warning it dissapeared. Is there a way I can get it back?

    Hello Caleb
I tried this on my Mac, and here is what I found.
Click on the "Trash" iCon in your Dock. If you have not emptied Trash, your deleted video clip should be there. You can drag it out of Trash and play it with QuickTime Player.
However, even if you drag it back into your Pictures > Photo Booth folder, Photo Booth thinks it is gone. The filename has been deleted from Photo Booth's database.
You can use the file you have retrieved from trash, but if you for some reason need to have it in your Photo Booth tray, you will need to recreate the movie using Photo Booth.

  • Import photos into photo booth

    Hello,
I just upgraded to Leopard by doing an erase and install (wanted a fresh start). I manually backed up all the photos in my Photo Booth folder and the recents.plist file also.
Now I was to add those photos back into Photo Booth in Leopard. I know you used to be able to edit the Recents.plist file, but the new Photo Booth does not seem to make this file. Anyone have an idea of how I can import my backed up photos into Photo Booth?

Ah, just figured it out. The Recents.plist file is now located in /Users/~/Library/Application Support/Photo Booth/
For some reason when I did a spotlight search for Recents.plist, that folder didn't come up so I assumed Photo Booth was no longer using Recents.plist to hold the list of photos.
    Thanks!

  • Going on a Trip! Photo Booth help?!

Hey guys I recently bought my macbook white after tons of saving up. I LOVE IT. Iv'e had very little problems transferring from windows to mac, especially since Ive grown up with windows. Anyways. I am going on a huge road trip, and I want to take video journals with photobooth. I already have a ton of pictures on there, and I want to start fresh. Here comes the question: How do I delete photos from photobooth, without it deleting right off my mac?
    Thanks so much!

    You're welcome, Sami56
    And thanks for the star!
I have one more question for you...
I accidentally deleted photobooth ... re-installed ... ever since, I have trouble with ... sound...
Sometimes ... sound comes back after a couple of days... sometimes not.
Intermittent problems can be difficult to resolve. I suggest you try the easiest things first, but you can use these suggestions in any order you like.
    (1) Because the problem occurs only occasionally, it might be due to changes in your system settings. System Settings _should not_ change unless you modify them, but, the next time you find that Photo Booth (PB) is not recording sound, IMMEDIATELY verify that the microphone you think you are using is selected as your input device in System Preferences... > Sound > Input and that the input level is adjusted appropriately there. Additionally, System Preferences... > Sound > Output settings must be set to the correct output device, balance, and output volume. Also, be sure your speakers are not muted via the keyboard. Now try PB again to see if the sound works. If all settings are correct, but the problem remains, consider (2) below.
    (2) If you have not restarted your Mac today, do so and check the recorded clip again to see if PB will play sound now. If not, use PB to record a few seconds of you saying something. Then play it back with PB to test whether sound works in this clip. If so, you may simply need to restart your Mac more often than you usually do to keep simple apps like PB from becoming problematic. If the test recording does not play sound in QT either, move on the the next possibility.
    (3) Restart your Mac. Then open your Pictures > Photo Booth folder and find the test video file that you just created. (Unless you made other video clips after you made the test video, its name will be "Movie xx.mov", where "xx" is the highest number you see in a movie file name.)
Now hold down the <control> key while you click on the test movie clip file. Open the file with QuickTime Player. Click the QT play button and see if sound plays in QT. If the sound plays in QT, PB is recording sound, just not playing it back. If no sound plays in QT either, move on the the next possibility.
    (4) Restart your Mac. Then use iMovie to record a few seconds of you saying something. (Use your Mac's iMovie > Help if you need assistance on how to record video clips into iMovie from your built-in iSight.) Then save and play back the test clip with iMovie to test whether sound works in this clip. If iMovie works reliably for you, you might want to use iMovie for your "important" video recordings, at least until you can find and fix the cause of your PB problem. Remember, PB is a basic, "fun", application that makes quick snapshots and videos, but serious video recording is most likely more reliable in iMovie.
    (5) If you want to consider some other possibilites, use your Mac's  > Software Update... to be certain that your system software and all your Apple apps are up to date. If your software is up-to-date, but the PB problem remains, you can also consider anything relevant from the list of suggestions in this post:
      http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7089133&#7089133
    (6) Because you say the problem began when you reinstalled PB using Pacifist, you might want to reinstall all of your Mac's Apple applications software to verify that your software is not damaged. If you need help, see the instructions in the users guide (manual) that came with your MacBook. If you do not have the manual with you, you can download the manual for your model from this page:
      http://support.apple.com/manuals/#macbook
If reinstalling only your applications software does not resolve your problem, backup all your important data and reinstall all your MacBooks software. If you need help, instructions on a complete reinstall are also in the manual. (Reinstalling all your Apple software takes a LONG time, so don't start it when you will need to use your Mac soon.)
Anytime you use an installer that asks for your system administrator password, I suggest that you repair permissions *before AND after* running the installer.
Once you have reinstalled and repaired permissions, use your Mac's  > Software Update... to apply any needed updates. Finish the update process with another permissions repair. If you need help but cannot find what you need in your MacBook's Disk Utility > Help, see this Apple document:
      http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=DiskUtility/10.5/en/duh17.html
Don't be concerned that the instructions are for OS X 10.4. Permissions work the same in 10.5.
    (7) If your problem continues and you need more suggestions, when you post back be sure to list which of the above you have tried. Also include any new info you found while applying those suggestions. We will try to offer specific suggestions based on the details in your response.
    Cheers,
    EZ Jim

  • Photo Booth Files Misplaced

i took a video using photo booth then moved the video to a different location and forgot where i moved it to (trying to hide the video) is there a way to find this video that was created by photo booth without knowing the name of it if so please detail

It seems that you certainly successfuly hid your movie!
Search using Spotlight.  Videos recorded with Mac OS X 10.8.2's Photo Booth are named "Movie" (without quote marks) plus the date & time.  Example: "Movie on 2012-11-25 at 23.31" Search for as much of the name as you remember.
The search is easier if you know at least the date.  If not, search for "Movie" without anything else and then look at each one to find the one that is NOT in your Photo Booth folder.
    • If your 10.5.8 Photo Booth version used a different first word naming convention, search for that.
    • If you moved the file outside your User Folder, or if you have used System Preferences... to modify where Spotlight may search, Spotlight may not be able find where you put it.  In that case, use Finder > Go > Computer to open a finder window and search your entire hard drive for "Movie". This list you must review manually may be much longer, but it might find your file (along with many others.)

  • Photo Booth Not Working

Hi there! OK. Seasoned user here, just can't quite figure this out... My Photo Booth application isn't working correctly. It is not saving the picture. After I take a picture (of myself, for example) it will freeze on the picture and not show the photo down below, its just blank. Then, I have to close the program. When I restart it the photo is not there... I tried trashing the plist file for Photo Booth to no avail. I tried restarting, repairing permissions, etc. Nothing works. I even tried reinstalling the "bundled apps" dvd and no go... Ok, can anyone help me with this? Am I going to have to reinstall Mac OS X? I would rather not since it's fully updated to 10.6.3 (and since I recently had to wipe everything out and start over already) someone please advise... Oh! Another tidbit.. I checked the Console log after Photo Booth freezes up and it keeps reporting this in Console:
"* -[NSCFArray initWithObjects:count:]: attempt to insert nil object at objects[0]"
    Help!

To all those having the same freezing issues in Photo Booth (not allowing you to save photos within program) Discussions user "maahs_k " has helped me. Here was his solution for another user that ultimately helped me! maybe it will help you too...
check your photo booth folder permissions
    macintosh hd/users/your_user/pictures/"photo booth"
I've had a number of the machines at my building have that folder's owner become blank or change to system.
once you have the folder selected in the finder go to
    File->"Get Info"
and if your user isn't listed as the owner with
    read & write
privileges then click the + to add your user and/or change your privilages then try to take a picture in photobooth.

  • Photo booth effects in imovie

Is there a feasible way to use effects from photo booth in imovie? I would like to have the background-effect and use my isight-camera. There is no effect to choose. Unfortunately the quality is too bad if I record directly from photo booth. I did not found a way to optimise the quality in the application itself. Thank you for your help! I would like to use it for a project with my students.

Is there a feasible way to use effects from photo booth in imovie?
    Not directly from either app.
Here are a couple of alternatives you can consider:
    (1) Record the clip in Photo Booth (PB) using the effect you want. Then quit PB and launch iMovie (iM.) Import a copy of the clip located in your Home > Pictures > Photo Booth folder and named "Movie xx.mov" into iM.
    (2) If you have iMovie HD (before iMovie 7.x), record a clip and add Editing > Video FX after the clip has been recorded. These are not identical to the effects PB adds during recording, but they can approximate some of them on clips you have already made.
I suggest a short test first to determine whether you like what you can do before you record an entire project without knowing if you can approximate the effect you want.

  • Photo Booth - Problem with filenames

    Hi.
I just noticed that Photo Booth names pictures taken in a curious way... This is the name of a photo taken a few minutes ago:
Foto del 65353972-09-2455450 alle 18/09 (don't care about the words being in Italian )
The number indicating the month is correct, but what about the others? Shouldn't they be year and day?
I know, wrong names in Photo Booth is not a big deal, but I have a lot of pictures in the Photo Booth folder, and it would be nice to quickly find a photo looking at the date, instead of watching them all one by one...

Nothing to do with Julian date as stated in one reply. It's a bug in some localizations, for example the Italian one(Apple is alerted about it).
You have to go to the Application folder, select Photo Booth and control-click (or right-click) to see the contextual menu. Choose Show package contents and then Contents, Resources, Italian.lproj, Localizable strings.
    Open that file.
    1) Change the 21st string: from "HH.mm" = "HH:mm"; to "HH.mm" = "HH.mm";
    2) Change the last string: from "YYYY-MM-dd" = "AAAA-MM-gg";
    to "YYYY-MM-dd" = "YYYY-MM-dd";
To open the file, no problems with Textedit or XCode, but to save it you will have permissions problems: you must enable root (in System Preferences, Account, Login Options, Network Account Server..Join, Open Director Utility, Edit Menu, Enable Root User). Login as a root user and modify and save the file.
Easier: from your admin user account (no need to enable root), open the file with Textwrangler or similar software, do the changes and save the modified file (Textwrangler will ask you if you want to unlock the file and will ask you for your admin user password).
+Textwrangler: Unix and server administrator’s tool, with the ability to open and save files in a variety of line-ending formats, open and save text files located on remote FTP and SFTP ser A vers, authenticated saves (you can modify files not owned by you, provided that you are an administrative user)+

  • PHOTO BOOTH problem with disapearing photos

    Hi,
Im having problems with photo booth... why isnt there a photo booth discussion board?
Anyway.. my photos seem to disappear from the menu at the bottom after a period of time.
When i go into the photo booth folder to find the photos, i find that they have an annoying black border around them.
    YUCK!
    whats going on?
    thanks

Yes. It just clears out your current preferences for that application ...it does not delete your pictures or any work you've saved while using that application.
Usually if an application is acting up you can safely delete its preference file from your Library (your User Library that is) - this returns the app. to its 'first run' state - although as I said, your documents/saved files are untouched.

  • Photo Booth can't find its pictures.

    Hi all,
Yesterday I was cleaning up my 'pictures' folder and decided to move the Photo Booth folder to another folder within 'pictures' that I had named 'private photos'. However, this morning when I made the customary self-portrait all the pictures in the Photo Booth 'film strip' (at the bottom in the window) where gone! So I open the finder, see that Photo Booth has created a new folder with the same name within 'pictures' which is empty. I drag my 'old' Photo Booth folder back to where it used to be and are asked if I want to replace the new one. I click 'yes' and everything looks like before in the finder. Restart Photo Booth but the pictures are still not in the film strip!
So I run Maintenance 3.8 to repair permissions and all that. Didn't help.
    Please help!
    Thank You
    totoror

From What I've found.. it seems 3ivx or Perian could cause this problem. A friend had this issue and deleted 3ivx and it fixed his crashes. Alternatively, some folks are reporting that turning off 32-bit mode (Get Info) for Photobooth has also fixed, although this was already turned off in my friend's case. Or if you have iGlasses installed.

  • Photo Booth - Where To Store Your Photos?

    Hi,
Can someone please explain, are you supposed to store your Photo Booth pictures actually within the Application, or are you eventually supposed to import them into iPhoto or drag them into the Finder? Is there a benefit to keeping your Photo Booth photos within Photo Booth, or are you best off just storing them in a regular folder in the Finder?

Photo Booth doesn't store your saved pictures in the application, it stores them in a Photo Booth folder inside your user's "Pictures" folder. This is where Photo Booth looks for them. If someone else logs in, Photo Booth looks in their "Pictures" folder for their own pictures. So, technically, they are in a folder in the Finder already. It's up to you if you leave them there or move them somewhere else. If you want to include them or use them in an iPhoto, you can certainly do that.

  • Issue with uploading files from photo booth

Whenever I want to upload a photo booth picture from my computer, I hit upload and go to the photo booth section of the window that pops up. However, the photo previews displayed only show my first fifty or so photos (I have over 400 in there), and I have to click in and out of the photo booth folder until it shows all of my photos to choose from. Does anybody else have this problem/know how to fix it?
