My photos are eating up all my memory. Can I deleat albums?

When I look at my memory it is all used up by photos.  I have several albums that are from long ago and whould ike to remove them from this iPhone since they are backed up on my MacBook.

You need to connect your device to the computer, and 'unsync' them via iTunes, if they are albums that were created by syncing the device.  Otherwise, you can manually delete phots that were taken on the device that are in Camera Roll.

Acording to the Activity monitor, Addressbooksync and syncserviceagency are eating up all my memory. I force quit both of them but they come back on their own. When I force quit the complet apple software, when it comes back on it starts the mail program on its own, it their a way to stop this? The memory usage problem seems to have started when I asked Address book to check to duplicates - how do we get things back to normal?

How to Remove “Other” Data from iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch
    http://www.igeeksblog.com/how-to-remove-other-data-from-iphone/
With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5/6/7, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.

When you enable Photo Stream on your devices, only new photos you take or import to those devices will be automatically added to your Photo Stream. Existing photos won't.

  • I upgraded my iphotos and now all my photos are gone in all my albums.  How do I find them and put them back in? (1800 photos.)  Help.

I upgraded my iphotos and now all my photos are gone in all my albums. (1800 photos.) How do I find them
and put them back where they belong?

What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

I have lost my photo albums on my iPad Although the photos are still there. How do I get the albums back?, I have lost my photo albums on my iPad Although the photos are still there. How do I get the albums back?

It's version iPhoto '11. I sent the photos to the trash from in the resident iPhoto application, but not to the iPhoto trash, but the OS's trash in the bottom right task bar (Finder Trash).
Realizing what I had done, I dragged the picture folder back into the "Pictures" folder under my name in the Finder. I also dragged the iPhoto Library file back, but it said a new one had been created... I still attempted to replace the new with old iPhoto Library file.
The pictures are back and i can see the album names under events. The problem is that the album covers, nor the pictures themselves show up as thumbnails like they did before... they only show when you individually click on the photo to bring it into full view. I only see a grey background where the thumbnail was.
Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Evan

iPhoto 9.6 cannot open iPhoto Libraries on CD/DVD. The iPhoto Library needs to be on a writable storage.  Copy the iPhoto library from the disk to a folder in your Pictures folder. And then run the iPhoto Library Upgrader on that copy, see this link:  iPhoto '11: About the Library Upgrader

Thanks for the input. I was finally able to find some test conditions that duplicated the problem, and it is either that or some other out-of-spec diffraction distortion.  So I sent it off for repair.

  • How do i delete all the photos that are in that Photo app?   it is eating up all my memory

how do i delete all the photos that are in that Photo app?   it is eating up all my memory

Photos transferred from your computer are removed from the iPhone the same way they were transferred from your computer, via the iTunes sync process. To remove all such photos, deselect Sync Photos under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes followed by a sync.
Photos in your iPhone's Camera Roll can be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera followed by deleting the photos from the Camera Roll after the import process is complete.

  • Something is eating up all my memory on my Mac Book Pro.

I think that I downloaded some virus that is eating up all of my memory on my Mac Book Pro. I had 50 gb and not it's zero...Thank you.

Sorry, but where and what is The Finder?    I am running Tech Tool to check out my Apple Macbook Pro. My Apple disc utility says that I had
40 GB and then it went down to zero with very little usage. I am an honest person, Ogelthorpe, and I made a mistake by looking at Chatterbate and
maybe this **** site had a virus on it? I also looked at some old Busby Berkeley movies on You Tube. The hard drive problems occurred right after these
two searches. I have been erasing unnecessary things but as soon as I get some free space, it just disappears again, right away. It is like a stomach
worm in a dog that eats whatever hard drive space that I can muster...Thank you, again, Ogelthorpe, and it is now 3:45 PM in Caserta, Italy...Grazie!

  • Something that eats up all my memory? (or hard drive space?)

    Hi,
Someone told me that there is something in Adobe Premiere Elements that I need to turn off as it eats up memory unnecessarily.  Is this true?  If so, what do I need to turn off.  All i know is that my laptop is full and I don't believe I have that much on it and I have a hard drive with a 250 GB capacity.
    Thanks.

    lithea
I just figured out what your turn on off referred to when I ran into your Premiere Elements 8 wireframing question.
In Premiere Element 8.0/8.0.1, the Automatic Background Rendering and AutoAnalzyer features are major grabbers of computer resources.
The Premiere Elements 8.0.1 Update was supposed to take care of the Automatic Background Rendering part, by disabling its default status.
The AutoAnalzyer part you had to take care of yourself.
    1. Automatic Background Rendering.
Go to Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1 Timeline workspace Edit Menu/Preferences/General and make sure there is no check mark next to the
    option about Background Rendering.
(If you have not download and installed the 8.0.1 Update, please do so. See Help Menu/Update. If that does not work, then use the 8.0.1 download
from Adobe Adobe - Premiere Elements : For Windows : Adobe Premiere Elements 8.0.1 update
once installed this will be no "8.0.1" seen.
    2. AutoAnalzyer
In the Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1 workspace, click on the Organizer Tab in the row below the active Organizer header to open the Elements Organizer workspace. In the Elements Organizer workspace, go to Edit Menu/Preferences/AutoAnalzyer Options, and turn off every option under that category.
To get back to the Premiere Elements workspace from the Elements Organizer workspace, in the Elements Organizer workspace, click on File Menu/Exit.
Any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask.
    Thank you.

  • Hi.  I down load all of my pictures to iPhoto.  I was removing some even folders to make room, but DID NOT delete any of the ones I needed (and there are a lot of photos as I am a photographer just starting out).  All of my photos are gone.  ALL of them.

Can anyone help me.  All of my photos from iPhoto are gone.  There are three weddings that I photographed and may other sessions (I am a brand new photographer and this is going to kill my business).  I am so sick to my stomach.  I was deleting some even files due to the fact that the start up disk was almost full but DID NOT delete everything.  I finished what I was doing and then went to dinner.  I came home to do more editing and EVERYTHING is gone.  EVERYTHING, but the iphoto program was still there.  Is there any chance that these pictures could still be somewhere on the hard drive?
    Thank you,
    Kari

Did you use the finder to delete any photos that are in iPhoto?
If so you have trashed your library - you choices are to put it back EXACTLY like it was, restore your backup or start over (right click on the iPhoto library and show package contents, drag the masters folder to the desktop, create a new library and start importing
NEVER make any changes of any sort to the structure or content of the iPhoto library - ONLY use iPhoto to manage yoru photos

  • My photos are in the Library, but I can't use them

Hi. I recently added a ton of photos to my library that I had in my email. They are there but I can only access them through the pictures file and cannot use them at all in iphoto. I have tried to import them into the library (even though they are there) and I get a message saying they are unreadable even though they are jpg's. So my question is, how can I get it so I can use these for slideshows etc? I mean they are on my computer in the library folder but just can't be used and don't show up unless I go through the pictures option. They aren't on the page where it says library with all the sub folders.
Hope this makes sense to someone out there because it is confusing as heck to me! I just want to be able to use these photos.

    lookinforhelp:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Where are those image file located? It sounds like they are located somewhere inside the iPhoto Library folder and iPhoto will not import any file located there. So move them to the Desktop and import from there. Never put any file inside the iPhoto Library folder via the Finder or move, rename or edit any file or folder via the Finder.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • Photos are showing up in Places and not in my albums, organization.

I have the 3GS. I recently upgraded to the new software with the 4.0. It's really cool so far, except the fact that it took some of my photos out of already organized "albums" and put them into "places". I like the fact that they are recognized in the places section/tab. But I also would like to keep them in the album itself so I don't have to go searching for a specific picture that I know I have on the phone but can't find. It's just kinda a pain in the butt cause now my pictures are kinda all over my phone between "albums" and "places". And some of the places location are really off by saying some were taken in a different town when they weren't. Is there any way to reorganize them.

The photo streams are not available at the icloud.com site. The are only available on mobile devices or Macs with iCloud capatible iPhoto.  If you create shared photo streams they will be online but at their specifie URL and not at icloud.com.
