My photoshop CS3 doesn't recognize raw files anymore.

I have an iMac G5 with Photoshop CS3 installed on it. I decided to install on this iMac my husband's French version of Adobe Creative Suite Design Premium CS3. It turned my Photoshop CS3 (English) to Photoshop Extended CS3 in French.
I tried reinstalling my Photoshop CS3 in English but to no avail. This brought no change. Photoshop is still in French.
Then I realized, when I use this Photoshop CS3 Extended version in French, that I cannot open raw files on it. It either tells me it doesn't recognize this type of files or it does open it and it looks all grey.
Please, I need help. Any suggestions?
Thank you so much to whomever will rescue me!!

How would I update the camera raw pluggin? Mine is 4.0.
Thanks!

  • Photoshop CS4 doesn't recognize RAW-files on MacBook

I recently installed photoshop CS 4 on my MacBook Pro. I have a Sony alpha 330 camera, and photshop doesn't recognize my RAW-files (ARW)
What do I have to download to get my photoshop working?

Are Photoshop and ACR fully updated?
It seems support for RAW from Sony A330 was added with ACR 5.4.

Have you tried downloading the free DNG Converter and processing the images with that yet?

    1. Sync wasn't intended to be used in that manner. You would be better off carrying around a USB Flash Stick with Portable Firefox for use on "strange" PC's.
    2. You could open the "Library" {Ctrl + Shift + B} and highlight all those bookmarks and then delete them all at once. But that would also delete all the other bookmarks, and it isn't foolproof. All another person would need to do it to '''''restore''''' a bookmark backup file that has your bookmarks. Beyond that, a new Profile could be created and then the current Profile deleted; but that's "messing with" someone else's computer - an action that is worthy of terminating a friendship over, IMO.
And if that "public" computer was set up properly, Sync should have been disabled.

  • Photoshop CS3 doesn't open dng-files converted with the adobe dng converter 7.4

    Hey Guys,
i got a new camera - sony alpha a57 - which produces arw-files. for being able to work with these pictures on my photoshop cs3 I converted the arw-files to dng-files. now adobe bridge shows only the converted dng-signs, but I can't open them to work on them.
does anyone have an idea what I could do to use these files?
    thanx,

    Hi,
Sometimes when using the dng converter one needs to set the compatibility settings to the version of camera raw you want to open the files with.

  • PSE 10 doesn't recognize raw file

Have been using PSE 10 on a four year old Macbook pro with no problems.  Opens RAW file with no problem.  Just installed the same PSE 10 on a new iMac, and PSE 10 editor says it can't open file because it doesn't recognize the file.  Any suggestions?

The canon 5d mkIII requires the 6.7 camera raw plugin and pse 10 does support the camera 6.7 plugin.
When you went to Help>Updates from within the pse 10 editor, was there an updated version of camera raw listed for installing?

  • Bridge and Photoshop CS3 do not recognize Raw capture

    Hi,
I've had problems importing RAW images from my Canon 20D into Photoshop/Bridge. I have downloaded the 4.2 plug-in but it doesn't seem to have helped. I do not get any error messages, only that when I select the source in Bridge, it reads that there are no valid files found on the camera to import. But there are. It is full of RAW images.
In Photoshop, the same thing. All the folders that should contain images to import are empty. It doesn't seem to acknowledge the existence of these images at all.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

OK, you know that you REALLY don't want to try to ingest images directly from the camera, right? You really want to use a card reader...
You still don't say what OS you are using...there are known issues with Vista not "seeing" raw files on a Canon camera connected directly, only the jpgs. Copy the contents from the camera/card to a directoy on your hard drive.

  • Camera Raw doesn't recognize raw files of Panasonic's new Lumix FZ100.

I just bought Panasonic's new FZ100 camera only to find out that nothing in my Mac -- be it OSX, iPhoto, Preview or Adobe's Photoshop CS4 -- recognizes the pictures I take in RAW2 format. Does anyone else have this problem and when will Apple come out with a Camera Raw update that makes all its photo apps compatible with newer cameras? I asked Adobe the same question and was told to buy Photoshop CS5 for megabucks since they no longer update Camera Raw in older versions of Photoshop -- which I will not do.

There's typically a 4-5 month lag between the time a camera manufacturer releases a new model and when software vendors (such as Apple in this case) have the ability to view the RAW files.
RAW isn't a standard per se. It's more of a concept -- and every camera has it's own unique RAW format. The camera manufacturer's don't provide a any type of "RAW driver" to the software vendors. Companies like Apple & Adobe have to write their own and this takes a while to write, test, and integrate.
I think the Lumix FZ100 came out in August -- which means it's been 3-4 months by now and probably pretty close to RAW support showing up. You might have to sit tight for another month or maybe two, but probably not any longer than that.

  • DNG doesn't recognize raw files from my Nikon D800

When I open DNG (v 7.1.0.354) and go to the folder my raw files are in the files are "grayed out." The files came from a Nikon D800. I want to use the files in Photoshop 5 (v 12.0 x64.) The camera raw plug-in currently inside Photoshop 5 is v 6.0.0.205.
    Advice ?

Your camera is on the list of supported cameras for the latest DNG converter. It is also on the list of supported cameras for Camera Raw 6.7, which was the last update for Photoshop CS5. I cannot confirm that support because I don't have a D800. Is the DNG converter that you have the release candidate or the beta version that was out at one time? You might check for the latest updates and see if that makes a difference. I would also recommend that you update to Camera Raw 6.7.

  • I updated to Lightroom 4.4, and it doesn't recognize RAW files from a Nikon D300s.

I updated Lightroom this past week to V.4.4.  Now, I cannot import any photos because Lightroom does not recognize the RAW photos.  Prior to the update, it recognized the files and imported photos without any problem.  Now I'm dead in the water.  Any advise as to how to fix this?  Or revert back to a prior version of Lightroom?

Are you by any chance using Nikon Transfer to copy the files from your memory card to your computer?  If so, that could be the problem because there is a known issue with Nikon Transfer making some small change to each file.  If this isn't the problem, are you using LR to import directly from the camera or from the card via a card reader?  That could be the issue.  Try copying the files using Windows Explorer or Mac Finder to a folder on your hard drive and then see if LR can import from there.  That may help you narrow down the issue.  I have a D300s and have not had this problem with LR 4.4.

  • AIR app doesn´t recognize SWF files

    Hi
I have done an AIR app (in Flex). One of the features of it needs external SWF files to be browsed in a text field. Everything has worked very well for couple of years, but now I got a report from a client who uses that app. He says that AIR app doesn´t recognize SWF files anymore. When he clicks browse button, a normal file selection dialog opens but all the SWF files are greyed out.
He send one SWF file to me and it worked well in my computer/AIR app. Anybody have any idea what may cause that? He has used my app a lot, and two weeks ago it worked normally. He uses mac, not sure whis version, quite new I suppose.

    Hi,
That's odd that this just started occurring for the customer.  A couple of things come to mind, first, are you using FileFiters when you call browseForOpen()?  If you are, could you try a test where you remove them and then see if the swf's become enabled?  Do the swf files have extensions on the mac?  If not, try adding them and see if that makes a difference.
If you'd like, I can also give this a try since I have both platforms available to me.  Could you attach or email me ([email protected]) some sample code and a sample swf that would illustrate the problem?
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Why is my Photoshop CS3 not recognizing my NEF file from my new Nikon D7100, but will recognize NEF's from my old Nikon D90?

Help... Why is my Photoshop CS3 not recognizing my NEF file from my new Nikon D7100, but will recognize NEF's from my old Nikon D90?

Because many of the camera makers slightly alter their versions of their raw format whenever they release a new camera model.
Nikon does it, Canon does it, and also several other camera makers.
There is not a single version of NEF that all Nikon cameras use, nor a single version of CR2 for all Canon models.
Here is a list of supported cameras and the required ACR plugin needed to open the raw files.
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
Versions of ACR are specific to each version of Photoshop.
Older versions of PS cannot use the latest version of ACR.
You need to download the latest version of Adobe DNG Converter.
This will convert your newer 7100 files to DNGs that can then be opened in older versions like CS3.
Be aware DNG only works on folders of files, not individual files. Select the FOLDER not a single file

  • I can't import Nikon NEF (RAW) files.  It says it doesn't recognize the file.  Help.

I just installed Nikon Transfer and then View NX2 with Nikon Transfer 2 and successfully transferred over 300 RAW (Nikon NEF) files from my camera (Nikon D600) but Lightroom (v5.6) won't import them.  It says it doesn't recognize the files.  How can I resolve this?

Obsolete versions of Nikon software corrupt Nikon raw files slightly making them unrecognized in Adobe products.
You can reverse this corruption by using the utility from the following webpage:
    http://owl.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/fix_corrupted_nef.html
Basically you need to use Nikon software that is at least as new as your newest camera or don’t use Nikon software at all.

  • Does Photoshop CS6 support Nikon D810 raw files?

Does Photoshop CS6 support Nikon D810 raw files? Photoshop won't allow me to open the raw files and Bridge won't display the files either. I tried to download the camera raw plug-in 8.6 but read somewhere that Photoshop CS6 doesn't support it? HELP!!!

It should. The D810 had support since version 8.6. (A relative newcomer.) Did you use Help > Updates on the menu bar?
Take note that the updates for Camera Raw in CS6 only supports updates for cameras and nothing more. You won't get any of the new features inherent in the versions for Photoshop CC (like the filter brush in the Graduated Filter).

  • My photoshop cs5 will not recognize raw photos from my canon eos 70d

my photoshop cs5 will not recognize raw photos from my canon eos 70d

No.  DNG is a RAW format.  There are a few small manufacturer specific items that are left out when converted to RAW (for example, Nikon's Active D lighting) that aren't maintained, as well as some Meta data and focus points, etc.  Personally I never noticed the difference, but perhaps some do.  There is no impact to the image quality, you have just as much post production freedom with DNG.
I did it for a couple years before upgrading to CS6.  It's an extra step, but you get used to it and it's not a huge deal.  I would put my card in my reader, and download to a temp file.  While that downloaded I would go to the fridge and grab a beer [Edit - you can substitute the beverage of your choice ].  Then I would run the RAW to DNG converter, and drink my beer.  It was usually done before my beer (if not I got another).  I saved the CR2 files as a backup at first, but once I got comfortable trusting DNG I stopped doing that.
Another option is to get Lightroom and use that for your developing.  You can then send over a TIFF file with the edits.  But in this situation you couldn't send the image over as a smart object (I think, I assume this would use ACR?).
